They derive their name from the anonymity of these sites, where Anonymous posting is encouraged and often necessary.

Due to the group being vastly broad and diverse, the actions of individual Anonymous vary massively, yet most are content with mocking popular culture and one another. This is often done through [[wikipedia:Internet meme|memes]] that an outsider would largely find confusing.

Their accepted motto is: ''We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget.''

Traditional Anons tend to act out negatively towards a number of groups, including [[furries]], in the form of harassment and trolling because it has proven in the past to be very amusing. Anonymous acts in pursuit of [[lulz]]; in other words, as long as any one target contains the promise of personal amusement, it will be harvested for its "lulz" potential.

The Anonymous of [[4chan]], [[7chan]], [[Something Awful]] and particularly [[Encyclopædia Dramatica]] have conducted numerous notable "raids" on furries that were deemed "lulzworthy" targets. This has led to a generally negative image among furries towards Anonymous as a whole. However, while it is true that the majority of Anonymous share a negative view of furries, some members of Anonymous are in fact quite tolerant or indifferent of the furry subculture.

Some furries claim to be members of Anonymous; while this may be true in that their identity is hidden and thus their contributions may be accepted into the "hive mind," one should be warned that once a member of Anonymous is discovered to be a furry, they will quite likely be subjected to harassment and trolling by many of the legion.

The eldest child of her family, Zig Zag has two younger siblings, a brother and sister. None of whom share her striking coloration which she inherited from her maternal Siberian tiger grandfather. Zig Zag's childhood was an unhappy one; her father was abusive and her mother neglecting. With dysfunctional parents, she had to assume responsibility and care of her two siblings. Finally as Zig Zag grew older and started 'filling out', her father began delivering a different kind of abuse. This was the last straw that ultimately drove her from their poverty-stricken home.

A run away, she attempted to pursue an acting career. She worked hard but her lack of credentials, experience and her own 'exotic' looks meant her career was poor and encumbered. It even reached a point where returning home was a thought Zig Zag considered.

But her much awaited big break did come, in the world of [[pornography|adult entertainment]] industry. Despite initial hesitations, she made her choice. From that point forward, she worked her way up. Her career as adult movie actress was on the rise, coupled with her business acumen this culminating in the opening of her very own Double Z Studio. At this point she is described by her creator to be in her mid-twenties and still stars in many of her own productions

Then in a manner perhaps cliché, she returned home, gathered her siblings and brought them to her grandparents. She successfully sued her parents for custody, citing parental neglect and abuse. With her siblings safe, this victory was icing on cake as far as this skunk was concerned. Zig Zag - in all her incarnations by fanfiction authors - is characterized by being very generous and liberal with her show of affection, and protective of those close to her, whether they be employees or loved ones. She is the type of boss that makes no small effort at keeping her studio personnel happy. Zig Zag is also bisexual, having serious heartfelt loving crushy feelings to all around her (of both genders) - especially Sabrina!

''Sabrina Online'' depicts Zig Zag with a soft spot for kids. She volunteered a babysitting deed at a child-proofed day at Double Z Studios, as a pre-embarrassed, shorthanded Sabrina was needed there. Adult-oriented, pornographic (or [[yiff]]y) fan artwork featuring [[furry]] characters has been popular in [[furry fandom]] since the beginnings of this subculture. Zig Zag first became known as the star of a series of "yiffy" drawings by Max Blackrabbit, whose artistic style placed him into the upper tier of popular amateur furry artists. == History ==
Cyrin first joined the [[furry fandom]] in or around 1998, not long after first gaining access to the Internet, side-stepping into it via the [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] fandom. He was quick to become involved in the [[alt.fan.furry]] and [[alt.lifestyle.furry]] newsgroups, at the time going by the alias '''Vulpie Fox'''. During this time he quickly identified an interest in [[transformation]], particularly [[artwork]] and [[stories]] involving [[aquatic]] species.

After a period of self-exploration (and indecision), he arrived at the revised species of dolphin in early 2002. This decision reflected a long-standing, somewhat uneasy relationship between himself and the ocean, stemming from his early childhood. It was at this time that he first attempted to depict his characters and write stories relating to his principal furry interests. This period also coincided with Cyrin's entry into the local furry community, attending a small handful of [[furmeets]] in Perth.

Between 2003 and 2004, Cyrin continued to explore the fandom, exploring other furry interest groups including [[balloonies]] (drawing upon a pre-existing fascination with inflatable toys) and [[rubberfurs]], steering his creative output in these directions. He also became more actively involved with the [[Perth Furs]].

As the Perth furry community saw an explosion in growth in late 2004-2005, Cyrin met [[Fallimar]], his mate for 4 years. In the years that followed, he began to explore two new species, [[fish]] and [[cow]], coinciding with events in his life such as moving out of home, finishing a bachelor's degree in [[wikipedia:Software Engineering|Software Engineering]] and transitioning to full-time work. Ultimately, Cyrin chose to retain these aspects of his furry self as alter-egos, re-embracing the common dolphin species as his life stabilised.

In mid-2008, gaining a renewed sense of independence, Cyrin resumed the path of self-exploration to the point where his primary [[fursona]] changed to that of an inflatable toy. This transition was nurtured by rediscovering members of the [[toykin]] community (which he was involved with pre-2005).

Cyrin's main character (and fursona) is an anthropomorphic inflatable toy, based on his common dolphin character.

The toy's design is based on two main air chambers (tail and body, each with a separate valve) supported by a number of smaller, interconnected inflatable regions. It is constructed from medium gauge, semi-translucent glossy [[wikipedia:PVC|vinyl]] in four colours; grey, white, yellow and blue. Its features are simplified and of [[cartoon]] proportions, including crudely fused two-toed flippers, fin-like mittens and large, cute, green printed-on eyes. Two soft, solid plastic handles adorn its back, situated on either side of its huge, puffy dorsal fin.

Second Life was started in 2003 as a project by "Linden Research, Inc." doing business as "Linden Lab".
Second Life's primary attraction has always been the level of customization; from the ground under your feet to the clouds in the sky. This was quite literal since the world's developers intended for the user to be able to create the world to their desire, as is quoted in the Second Life overview on its site:

Also, unlike other role playing games, there is no goal to reach, no levels to gain, no enemies to defeat, therefore it isn't a game at all. It is more a MUSE: Multi User Simulated Environment.
Rather, it is a platform that allows games and worlds to be built within its framework. It is better classified as a richly graphical multiple user chat kingdom ([[MUCK]]) rather than an MMORPG. Some go so far as to just call it a [[Wikipedia:Metaverse|metaverse]], which isn't that far of a stretch.

Until April 2007, membership on Second Life required a credit card or [[Wikipedia:Short message service|SMS]]-capable cellphone, both for security reasons and because each region has its own content rating, from PG to Mature (which can be very mature at times); such prerequisites were dropped by 2007. ===Controversy===

On September 8th 2006, Linden Lab reported via a security bulletin (which was also emailed to all SL users) that the servers holding player account information had been attacked using a zero-day exploit. According to Linden Lab, this attack on the servers may have begun as early as September 3rd and they only noticed an increase in activity on the 6th which they then quickly locked out. Their investigation showed that the attack allowed a significant amount of customer account information to be downloaded such as credit card numbers, PayPal transaction ID's, real life names, Second Life names, account passwords, and contact information.

As part of their effort to improve the security of their servers, Linden Lab had invalidated the passwords (assuming they were already compromised) of all Second Life users and has required said users to reset their passwords. Linden Lab further mentioned that while the compromised payment information was encrypted, no encryption is unbreakable given enough time and computing power. They had thus stated that if any SL user believed themselves to be the victim of credit card fraud, they (the user) should contact their credit card company.

==Second Life and furry==

The [[furry fandom]] has a major presence in Second Life, with multiple areas devoted to providing accommodation, entertainment and creative services specifically for members of the furry community. Themes range from the pedestrian to the bizarre, although trees are common in furry haunts. Each user can create their own objects from the inbuilt primitives, but the majority of users rely in part on objects created and sold by others. These include body parts for avatars, accessories, vehicles (which may be purely aesthetic or provide extra functionality), toys, [[pose ball]]s for avatar animation, and scripts to provide extra features (like "push" and "shield" defensive/offensive capabilities).

Second Life has become one of the popular forms of online entertainment for members of the furry fandom; at last count there were over 500 furries registered as Second Life users, and the true number is probably several times that by now. This arose out of the fact that the avatars, humanoid objects representing the user, are very customizable and the world's disposition for allowing users to create anything has made the concept of a virtual "[[fursuit]]" possible. Many furries of Second Life don't like to be considered to be wearing fursuits. Instead, they pretend it is their real body. These consist of a variety body parts which are attached to the user's avatar. These parts include [[tail]]s, [[wing]]s, legs, and so on - some have even made complete sets that resemble mythical beasts such as [[dragon]]s, complete with scripted flame effects. Such avatar add-ons can be sold by their creators, who retain the ability to control distribution of their objects as part of their copyright, enforced by inbuilt copy restrictions. The high interactivity is also a plus for online social networks - as a result, various [[furry]] communities began to pop up in the world and are now a sizable force in the virtual world. In (early 2006?), a "furry admin" meeting for all furry and/or furry-friendly sims' administrators or owners was held to discuss several unifying strategies regarding the fandom population in world ([[Inferniel Solvang]] was the lead fur for this particular encounter.) Of the many proposals, one was the creation of a common, official symbol or logo for identifying purposes for sim or fur.

The final design, a SL logo inspired image, came to be thanks to the design of SL [[furry artist]], [[Yiffy Yaffle]]. The logo can be viewed on most of the older furry sims, with propagation to newer ones going at a slow, but steady rate.

He joined ''[[WikiFur]]'' after seeing the extensive clean up needed on the [[ArtPlz]] article and couldn't resist the twitch to click edit and fix it. Following that he did a large amount of early editing work, creation of templates and policing before partially retiring in late 2006. Since then he has made a few edits here and there to the wiki and would like to do more if he could remember to pay it a visit more often!

His major work was in wiki development and he spent much of his time time importing [[Wikifur:Boiler Plate Text|templates]], setting up wikipolicy and patrolling the Recent changes list occasionally.

His first major edit on Wikifur was [[ArtPlz]] where he did a large rewrite of the main article. His first written article (one that he started) was [[Northern Furs (UK)]], a group for which he occasionally attends fur meets for.

After his contributions during the early stages of WikiFur's development, Nidonocu was made an [[Wikifur:Administrators|Administrator]].

== Furry ==
Nidonocu has been a [[furry]] since around 2002 after meeting other furs online and learning about the fandom. Though he has suspicions that for some time that he was a fur, and this could explain at least half of his childhood behaviour.

He started off taking on the form of a Nidoking-Morph, an [[anthropomorphic]] [[Wikipedia:Nidoking|Nidoking]]. This is also where his name comes from; 'nido' from his species; 'nocu' short for nocuous, meaning noxious. So his actual full name is ''Nidonocuous''. He is often referred to though as either just the first four, or last four letters of his name for short.

This form however, was originally created to be a character for a [[Wikipedia:MUSH|MUSH]] and he felt it didn't quite suite him as a personal avatar, so went ahead and created himself a more accurate creature and [[fursona]] that fitted his personality.

Thusly, his species is Poison Bunny (''Animalia Chordata Mammalia Lagomorpha Leporidae Contraho Noxialis-Lagus''). This is a original species that is [[Wikipedia:elemental|elemental]] in nature and takes aspects from both real [[rabbit]]s and the [[Wikipedia:Pokémon|Pokémon]] species, Nidoking(#34).

The overall look is an anthropomorphic rabbit like creature with purple fur and pale purple underbelly. He retains also the green and teal colouring of his ears, though they are more rabbit shaped than those on any member of the nido-family of pokémon. He also has a small forehead horn, back-spikes, shoulder pads, and tail like that of a nidoking, but lacks the thicker body plating and flesh instead of fur. He has bright gold-brown coloured eyes and dark brown, normally messy styled, hair.

Not including the few non-furry related site I work with. I have particular interest in furry relations in the mass media, apart from that I'm rooted into web design and a bit of programming too. I've only been in the fandom a couple of years, but in that time I've done my darndest to help as much as possible.

I'm British and use good old "proper" English - you know, the one from England. However I'm also quite proud of my roots based in Malaysia, because it's a fairly nice place for a semi-developed country.

2 has been making poetic audio files known as the Lucid Sonic Delusions. At present he has released two of them on his official website, with plans to release a whole new series as time goes on.

It is thought that the files were named LSD Files because they give the same euphoric feel as the drug of the same name (though they have nothing to do with drugs). The files are in fact named Lucid Sonic Delusions; this may have been on purpose so that the initials would be LSD, but this has not been confirmed.

The first DVD, "Rolling A One", is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Anthrocon in 2002.

The second DVD, "The Truth", is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Anthrocon in 2003. It includes commentary from 2 and Lord Skandranon on one track, and a separate track consisting of 2, [[Lord Skandranon]], [[Skates]], and [[Krahnos]]. The DVD also includes the infamous "chocolate bunny death" video.

The third DVD, "The Gods Hate Me", is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Anthrocon in 2004. Among the DVD's special features are a full length MST3K style commentary from 2, the DVD's creator Lord Skandranon and their friend [[Gir Tygrin]] (who in the video refers to himself as random other guy), some random bonus footage, and an explanation of the "beer shot" joke.

Plans for a fourth DVD, "Place Gryphon Here", were scrapped due to technical problems while recording the shows at [[Anthrocon 2005]] and [[Midwest FurFest 2005]]. Instead, an audio CD was released that contains audio from both. It replaces an earlier audio CD that has gone out of print.

A fourth DVD was eventually released, called "Live In Germany". This DVD is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Eurofurence 12 in 2006.

40oz discovered the [[furry fandom]] at the age of thirteen via the Internet and has been a very active member of the furry fandom since then. 40oz Hyena at one point went by the name of '''Kropotka Hyena''' and produced a bit of artwork under this name, although for some time, denied he was Kropotka, and then admitted that he was after numerous people claimed that he was, claiming he had denied it because he had just got kind of burnt out on the [[furry art]] scene.

After a while he took on the namesake 40oz, or Forty Ounce, due to his fondness for 40 ounce bottles of malt liquor. His favorite being King Cobra. His obviously alcohol related name, and the fact that he appears at functions often inebriated, has earned him a bit of a reputation as an alcoholic. 40oz does not deny this allegation at all, and in fact, seems to be quite proud of it. Despite the social and health risks associated with alcoholism.

At age 17, 40oz ran away from home and has been traveling since then. He has lived in many places such as Ohio, Michigan, Missouri and every state on the Eastern seaboard.
