Squad Redpaws is a small, close-knit, low-key, furry-specific military simulation group, based out of the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Squad currently contains three regulars and four irregulars, spread from Pittsburg to South San Jose.

Regularly frequent airsoft fields from Southern to Northern California, and are easily identifiable by their distinctive camoflauge and badges. Often are seen in uniform at such conventions as Further Confusion and Conifur, as well.

History
First envisioned in September of 2004 by Cetaphin and Rudy_Jones. Squad's first operational deployment on October 24th, 2004, in the mountains near Santa Cruz. Has grown steadily since then, in both numbers and equipment, gaining three new members in the first six months alone. Gained an unoffical sponsorship by Combat Enterprises in late 2004.

Equipment & Tactics
Squad equipment and tactics are based around light infantry principles. Small fireteams form a bounding overwatch towards a central objective. Each fireteam usually consists of three soldiers, each with specialties ranging from fire support to sniper/reconissance.

Uniform consists of the ACU (Army Combat Uniform}, Magnum combat boots, and olive drab MOLLE tactical gear. MICH helmets are used on preference and operation.

Weapons are of personal choice and speciality, but range from the newly-released H&K MP-7 to the venerable M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.

Commonly-used vendors for squad weaponry are Marui and Classic Army, and are currently testing weaponry from such new manufacturers as Guay & Guay and Star.

The Future
Expected continued growth and expansion. Even considering the idea of an airsofting fursuit, or series thereof; but problems with vision, suit physiology, and mobility are to be considered, as airsoft is a high-impact, physically-demanding game.

Co-creator Cetaphin is currently working on opening a airsoft retail location in the Pacific Northwest, which will hopefully expand the group's membership and interest across the West Coast, and possibly beyond.

Cetaphin is a 27 year-old male furry that lives in Santa Clara, California. His fursona is a anthro albino bottlenose dolphin.

He is most often found on Tapestries MUCK.

User
He has been a constant lurker within furry since 1995, often making token, random appearances at Further Confusion, Conifur, or local furmeets; his first being Conifur 2000.

Engineer by trade, he gradutated from Oregon State University in 2002, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. However, he has been disinterested with his chosen field of study for some years, and thus floats from job to job, currently working as a courier with a major overnight shipping company.

Airsoft
Is an avid player and collector of airsoft, a realistic military simulation game similar to paintball, since late 2001.

Co-creator and Commanding Officer of Squad Redpaws, the only known furry airsoft squad in the United States.

Although having not a shred of visual artistic talent, he is quite mechanically inclined, and is considered a master, by some, in the 'art' of airsoft gunsmithing, and is currently in the process of opening an airsoft retail location in the Pacific Northwest.
