Art by Jonas.]]
:There is also a BC FurBQ.
The FurBQ, also known as the SoCal FurBQ, is one of the largest informal, annual gathering of furs in the SoCalFurs region. It's basically a huge potluck picnic, held at the Irvine Regional Park, in Orange County, California, U.S.A.

History
The annual FurBQ started in 1998, when Loran Skunky and Dark Fox went to a picnic with several other furs earlier in the year. With everyone there at the time the 2 found that it was nice "getting away from the PC and hang out with friends" that an idea to have one during the summer came up.

Loran Skunky was quick to post the plan to the then little Mailing List about having a BBQ and asked people to RSVP for the event. The location came to an apartment complex that a fur was living in that contained quite a picnic area, including a pool and clubhouse. Little did the organizers realize more than anticipated were going to show up. It was discovered that word was placed on a larger list and a good 40+ furs showed up. This unforeseen problem caused quite a stir for the fur whom was living at the complex, and the organizers took some heat from the other tenants as well as the manager several days after.

The result was a really cool shindig involving food, a pool, food, lots of music, video games, food, lots of talking and food... including some cheap Vons sushi. After the success of the 1st real FurBQ, Dark Fox and Loran Skunky realized that if this was going to happen again next year more space would be needed.

The following year, the official name of the event became "The FurBQ". Both Loran Skunky and Dark Fox were seen as the organizers of the event and used the list to help them gather better data on how many people would show up and where the event could be to hold so many. The 2 then spent over 4 months before deciding on Irvine Regional Park.

The first year of it being held there involved a very large, horizontal tree which was used by many (including Shadarack) to display their skills of balance and coordination. Henceforth, one inexplicable event which always has happened since then is a "kitty in a tree"... whether it be to hang out or retrieve some kinda Nerf.. thing...

It continues today at the same location and is held in the May months, just before Califur. The specific date per year changes, as per discussion and a yearly poll on the Mailing List. The attendees for the FurBQ are in excess of 100+ furs, second only to ConFurence and Califur, and have furs come from as far as Britain to attend!

External links
*SoCalFurBQ on Twitter
*Small video of the 2005 FurBQ

Conventions

We try to insure the veracity of any data added to article entries. "I talk to..." is not accepted as valid reference. valid reference would be like the line I'm currently pursuing of checking the obituaries on the city of Tonopah and surrounding counties' newspapers' obituaries - Spirou 21:12, 11 November 2012 (EST)

:OK guys, hold up. Oggy, the issue appears to be that other editors don't know you, and we're hesitant to use "someone we don't know talked to someone else we don't know" as a firm reference to say "X died", especially given the other stuff above. We can say something like "X said that he contacted Y, who in turn said that Stalking Cat had died on Z". It seems like this would do for now unless and until we get a published source. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:13, 11 November 2012 (EST)

::For what it's worth, Chilly also called up, and got the same information. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:27, 11 November 2012 (EST)

:: Im sure this comforts no one but I can vouch for Oggy as someone I know. I admit that I asked her to update the info (instead of me doing it through my account) only because SHE talked to the Admin. With a few assumptions being made about me, or at least my credibility, I didnt see any point in just relaying Oggy's info, lest that add to the conclusion-jumping. So, if you want to blame me for encouraging the direct source to post (about the contact of authorities there in Tonopah), in the hopes it would keep the assumptions and drama-factor low... than by all means do so. At this point, I am taken a bit aback to a bit of the behaviour but Ill recognize it for what it is. It is not reasonable for me to continue harping over this in a time when I am in deep sorrow and mourning, so I shall leave this talk page be. --Kat the Leopardess 21:22 11 November 2012 (PST)

:::http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4018759/ NecroDone13 also called using the same number I did and spoke to the Admin. GreenReaper, the Sheriff said the local papers are Tonopah Times and Bonanza. She didn't know if these were sources that had online content. I looked, I didn't see an obituary for either, let alone content for the Times at all. Admin said nothing was published currently. I assume that a death certificate will eventually be in public record. I really don't care what you guys believe or don't. I'm just trying to provide some of my friends closure. You are in for the ride of your life when we unleash all that is furry in our own unique comedic style.

:Freaky Furry Friends is comprised of 3 young 20-somethings from Rancho Cucamonga, CA: Stina Kitsune, Manda Panda and Sylvrwolf. The show is centered around furry and gaming but also covers a myriad of things such as current events, fandom related news, and a few politcal and religious discussions.

:The show started by being aired on the Gaming Uncensored site. However since then, the team thought to expand to a podcast earlier this year. <br>

Out of studio appearances by the Freaky Furry Friends:

Califur (May 2006)<br>
[http://www.mtsac.edu/ Mt.
Catwoman69y2k: /* Submissions */

WikiFur is soon to have its Community Portal redesigned to provide more functionality, communication and organisation for projects within the wiki. As such, the Community Portal is going to be given a new name.

What is that name? Well, we don't know yet and we'd like to have suggestions!

Criteria for the new name
The name should be something furry related and it can also be a little humorous too if you want. The WikiFur: namespace remember doesn't have to be official like the main article namespace. It can also run on a little theme if you want as we are also going to have a forum and discussion area within the Portal (akin to Wikipedia's Village pump), you can suggest a name for that area too if you wish to accompany your suggestion.

If you want some examples, WikiNews has "The Watercooler"; Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki, has "Ten Forward"; the Homestar Runner wiki has "The Stick".

Process for picking a new name
The process for picking a new name will be as follows:
#Enter your personal suggestion below, sign your edit to show who you are, these will be checked against the edit history of this page.
#Once enough submissions are in, a vote will be held for the favourite name.
#The favourite name will be selected and development on the new Portal will begin.
We are aiming to have the new portal up in time for the 2000th article so get your entries in now!

Submissions
To make your submission, place a semi-colon followed by your name idea.
