Charles "Chuck" P. A. Melville is a furry author and artist. He was a guest of honor at ConFurence III, and at Conifur 2003. From 1998-2004, he also served on Conifur's staff as head of the convention’s dealers den. Over the years he has contributed to several APAs and fanzines, including Ink Spots, Q, Gallery, Ever-Changing Palace, and Tales of the Tai-Pan Universe.

Chuck self-published Champion Of Katara in 1986, first becoming involved with furry fandom upon joining Rowrbrazzle in 1987. In 1991 he moved from Rochester, NY to Seattle, WA, becoming a part of MU Press, first as co-editor (and co-creator) of The Furkindred: A Shared World with Edd Vick, and then from 1993–1997 as editor of MU’s anthropomorphic books, such as Zu, Cyberkitties, Fangs Of Ka’ath and Corus. He also wrote and/or drew several short stories for some of the titles.

Chuck was nominated several times for an Ursa Major Award; first in 2002 for best illustration – the cover of Wild Kingdom #13 – and once in 2003 for best short story – "Riding The Lady" in Tales Of The Tai-Pan #33. Success came in 2004 when two of his self-published novelettes were nominated for best short story – "Felicia And The Dreaded Book Of Un" and "Felicia And The Tailcutter’s Curse" – the latter of which finally won. Felicia, a supporting character from the Champion of Katara stories, was previously the protagonist of a long-running serial in Rowrbrazzle, subsequently collected in MU Press's graphic novel Felicia: Melari's Wish.

The raven is a black bird, the largest member of the crow family Corvidae.

The raven is considered by some to be the most intelligent of birds. It can learn to mimic ambient sounds or even speech. A scavenger by habit, it is nevertheless highly sanitary as compared to its smaller cousins. Its coloration may be described as mostly black with hints of other coloration, such as purple or green, especially on the pin feathers. The raven is a beloved bird of London, England, where a raven sanctuary is situated in the historic Tower of London.
In the fandom
Birds are, at present, quite a small minority among furry characters (not counting gryphons), but by some chance, ravens are among the few species of bird to have been chosen. The few raven characters as of this writing seem to tend toward the punk/goth subset.

There have been raven characters on talking wildlife-type MUCKs, including Shadow Over Kamchatka MUCK and The Lion King MUCK.

Before you ask, yes, I had read the dolphin sex guide already. It was standard fare on messageboards by then. I'm sure you can see where this is going, but don't worry, it took FOREVER to get there. The first night none of them even came close to the shore. I called to them, splashed the water and left food out. All that accomplished was waking up the people in the condo next to us. I got my ass back indoors, not wanting to explain to them that I was attempting to solicit sex from a dolphin. The next night I fared marginally better. They swam closer, at least. Earlier that day I had gone on some faggoty cave tour, and met a really cute girl in an orange floral bathing suit. She had hit on me, but being the sexual retard that I am, I hadn't done anything about it. With her on my mind I had a pretty damn near perpetual boner for the duration of the evening, including my walk on the beach. I repeated this process for the next week. We were only to be in Hawaii for a month, and the end of the trip was growing ever closer. It was one warm, humid evening after a dinner at a local shrimp shack that she appeared. Were she to stand vertically she might have reached from my toes to the base of my neck, clearly not physically mature just yet. I don't know if she was attracted by my efforts or if I met her purely by chance, but our bumping into one another was decidedly opportune. I had that girl from the cave tour on my mind, and I was good to go.I won't lie to you. I went into the water with sex on my mind, but expecting to be mangled. I could see several adult dolphins swimming nearby and I had no idea how dolphin adults would react to something like this. She was a darker grey than you see in pictures, maybe because of camera flashbulbs, who knows. I waded into the water, still wearing my shorts, and made squeaking noises before I realized how ridiculous I sounded. She swam in concentrically smaller circles around me, and I did my best to attract her, although I honestly had no idea how one went about attracting a dolphin. Eventually she saddled up right next to me, and just sort of floated there for a second before making another pass around me, poking me intermittently. As I had read in the FAQ I reached down and touched her belly. I guess it scared her because she withdrew for about a minute and a half before she came back. Almost immediately, she rolled over. Misunderstanding? Who knows. I rubbed that shit, let me tell you. This was the closest I had ever gotten to touching a woman, and it felt good. I stroked the length of her flat, muscular belly, not sure what the proper etiquette was when it came to "going for the goodies." I figured if she wanted me dead I'd be chunky red floaties already, so I went for it.
