Ruehai Trilogy

Biopunk: Added first draft description.

This is a trilogy of books in the Ruehai setting (Dreams of Ruehai, Tribes of Ruehai, and Wars of Ruehai).

This is a self-published, hard world building series. It's focused on darker aspects of human nature, such as bigotry, slavery, and extreme corruption. It is slow-paced and lore-heavy, especially early on, though book three does pick up the pace.

Only one of the four humanoid races is furry: a feline race. They are not introduced until roughly a third of the way through book one. However, book two focuses almost entirely on them, so it is justified to list Ruehai here. The humanoid and Earth-like species stand out, because native species on Ruehai do not match Earth life at all. There are native species that are intelligent as well, but they are not humanoid at all. They match the Ruehaian body plan, including having Ruehaian eyes (see book cover), four lower limbs, two back-limbs, etc. They are very rarely seen in the series. However, the character who narrates the books is one of them.

The series focuses on a corrupt theocracy in humanoid territories. It's led by a elderly, genocidally-minded high priest. The high priest is bent on enforcing his vision of the world before his time is up and resorts to conspiracy and war to do so.

The series features an ensemble caste, rather than a single main character. The caste includes three members of the most human species (ruajan) including a traditionalist farmer's daughter, a stir-crazy nobleman with delusions of grandeur, and a fast-talking con artist/thief. One member of the ensemble is of the slave species (seirken) who inexplicably becomes a super-warrior. It also includes a member of a non-humanoid native species to Ruehai that works as an anthropologist. It contains one member of the feline race (ruffa) who's searching for his (presumed dead) missing wife. He's an air-scout, which is a person capable of using artificial wings attached to a harness to fly. While there is only one ruffa main character, book two introduces a constant stream of other important feline characters; far too many to list here.

This series was written a long time ago. The author gave up on being a writer long ago (says so in official description). The author decided to self-publish after many years, though didn't advertise at all. It is published wide through a free self-publishing service, though not advertised anywhere. The website is bare enough to be little more than a placeholder ( www.ruehai.com ).

In short, this series had some seriously heavy-hitting world building potential, but was sabotaged by not having a structural editor. The author lost faith in their own work and so didn't bother hiring one.

Biopunk: /* G-R */ Put Ruehai in the wrong place before. Also, decided to have just one description for the trilogy, instead of individual books. Since the books are named "___ of Ruehai" it's redundant to list them separately.

If you can think of a novel that deserves writing about, add it in here, and feel free to write and add to articles yourself. Novels may be either commercially published or online (or both). Stories that are less than approximately 40,000 words should be placed in the [[:Category:Short stories|short stories]] category. Individual books of multi-part series are welcome here, but articles describing the series as a whole belong in the [[:Category:Story series|story series]] category.

The article title is the novel's title, sometimes with subtitle. Don't include the series name.
