Caer Carnivore

2008-08-04T08:20:47Z

BigTig: Location links.

The Caer Carnivore is a furry household now in San Jose, California.

It was a social focal point for some of the early furs from the Philadelphia and New Jersey areas and was resident of several noted furry artists.

Movie Night
From nearly at it's inception in 1995 until 2005, the NJ Caer Carnivore would host a weekly "movie" night on Tuesday evenings. While it initially grew out of the dubbed anime that locals were providing to New York Animation Society (FANTA), it soon became a gathering of artists, furs and friends.

Many furry artists and new furs were introduced to the fandom here. Regular attendees included Uncle Kage, Gideon, Roxikat, Astor, Bennie, SusanDeer, Jay Shell, Rob Fenelon, Gerald and Richard Moriarty and more.

Events
In addition to regular gaming and moving nights, there were often weekend social gatherings.

On his birthday, Wolf Kidd would host an annual gathering that drew from both locals as well as strongly from the Toronto furry artist community. Regular attendees included: Ferris, Max Blackrabbit, Mel. White, Torrle, Andrew Murphy-Mee, Shawntae Howard, etc.

The house played host to two weddings: Wolf and Anastasia Kidd in 1997. Ken and Lisa Sample in 2002.

The caer was the central organizing point and binding location of the A.P.A. MegaMorphics.

New Jersey
It originally was formed in December 1995 when Ken Sample and Anastasia Kidd purchased a late Victorian 3-story house in Dunellen, NJ.

Over the years the residents have included: Anastasia Kidd, Dorthy Vonkannon, Lisa_Lynx, Wolf_Kidd, and SueDeer.

In June 2005, the house was sold and the then current residents went their separate ways. Ken and Lisa moved out to San Jose, CA. Wolf Kidd moved to Lewisville, TX. Anastasia Kidd remained in Dunellen, NJ.

California
In April 2008, the house was reformed. Original residents Ken Sample and Lisa_Lynx were joined by former movie night members Bennie and SueDeer. Additionally moving in were long-standing friends Cory Partypup and Orrin.

Ferris

BigTig: Link changed format a while ago.

Chuck Davies, also known as Charles Davies and Ferris, is a Canadian furry artist who draws himself as an anthropomorphic giraffe who is known for his realistic toony style and erotic media.

He was one of the artists contributing to The Yiffy Guide to Safer Sex, a PDF file/pamphlet which explained methods of safe sex to furries. Ferris's interests include macrophilia, dragons, and hermaphrodites.

Controversy
Ferris put his artwork and websites in hiatus around January of 2005 due with an artistic conflict with furry artist I.C.E. about the latter heavily borrowing Ferris' art style to the point that it was indistinguishable from his work.

As of January 2007, Ferris started posting new work on FurAffinity.

Macro, also known as Macrofurry or Furry giant, is, as a furspeak term, used to describe any furry character who is larger than normal (commonly, anything starting above 50'/15 meters.)

This can mean anything from a character larger than a normal human (8-9 feet = 2.44 to 2.74 m tall), to titans that dwarf cities. As a paraphilia, the sexual attraction to macro characters is known as macrophilia.

Macrophile
One of the best known sites dedicated to macro furs is Macrophile.com, which acts a combination of FurNation with some elements of FurAffinity.

Many noted furry artists and story writers keep galleries or pages on it, including Kenneth Sample, Rogue, Gideon, Doug Winger, SusanDeer, Cerberus and many more.

BigTig: gammer

Ken Sample (also known as Kenneth Sample or Coug'r) is an furry artist who started drawing furries (or, as he termed them, Exotics) in 1975, inspired by catgirls in mainstream television animation of the time, including the animated Star Treks Caitian officer M'Ress, Filmation's The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty, and Napoleon from Richard S. Meyer's science fiction novel Doomstar (ISBN 0445200510).

Until that point, his main influence had been mainstream superhero comics, and his style of furry drawing reflects these beginnings, featuring athletic figures with smoothly detailed musculature, and finished with crisp inks.

Characters and species
During the 1980s Ken created a large number of species designs, including the felinsect, femaline, silkie, and tigrant. His Genetitech characters from this era exist in an informal shared universe with Rod O'Riley's Fur le Dance characters and Mark Merlino's recoms. He was "the illustrator for" Other Suns, a science fiction roleplaying game.

Furry macrophilia
Sample later became one of the founders and most highly regarded creators of furry macrophile art, as well as a co-founder and regular contributor to the A.P.A. MegaMorphics. He also contributed character designs to Sean McGuinness's Kaiju Girls, a set of female characters based on japanese giant movie monsters.

Real life
He currently resides in California, along with his wife in the new Caer Carnivore. Although he is somewhat reclusive, his extensive body of work is readily available in the form of CD collections.

He is currently working with 3D artwork and animation, as well as experimenting with Shockwave Flash animation.
