'''Bengaley Summercat''', real name Henry Thiel (born August 28th, 1985)<ref>[http://www.socalfurs.com/members.shtml Bengaley's profile] on [[SoCalFurs]]. Retrieved December 5th, 2007</ref> is a [[furry]] who lives in [[Wikipedia:Southern California|Southern California]], United States.<ref>[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Bengaley Bangaley's profile] on [[Wikipedia]]. Retrieved December 5th, 2007</ref> His main [[fursona]] is a [[snow leopard]], however, he is well known for giving people a headache with the large number of various other fursona and persona characters. Bengaley Summercat is his full 'fan' name, and people more commonly call him by either name or nicknames, such as Ben or Summer.

==History==

Bengaley Summercat claims to have been a furry since he was a little kid, but was not introduced to the Furry Fandom until the Fall of 1999, when a friend he met at highschool brought him into the [[Star Fox]] fandom. Bengaley had already created the name Bengaley based on the character Ben Gali from Thundercats, and simply reused the name as his fursona.

Summercat continued to lurk around the edges of the Furry community until 2003, when he attended the furry Christmas party held at the [[The Prancing Skiltaire]] with close friend, [[Vorenth]]. He then attended the last Rick's Cafe party, and has continued to show up at the PS parties for the last four years. Since 2003, Bengaley has further involved himself in the local furry community, and has stated a goal to further the cause of Unporn.

== [[Califur]] ==

In 2006, Summercat attended his first Furry convention, Califur II, where he started his sketchbook (see below.) Afterwards, due to a case of mistaken identity by [[Kurt Miller]], he was volunteered onto Califur's staff to assist with Electronic Gaming for Califur III, and has since become official for Califur IV.

== [[Rowrbrazzle]] ==

At Califur III, Bengaley was introduced to Rowrbrazzle, and became a member of that publication. He's has expressed his elation at being able to join, as the publication was known to him as to have been central in assisting the start of the furry fandom, as well as being older than he is.

== Bengaley's Sketchbook ==

Started at Califur II, Summercat's sketchbook is filled with art from a dizzying variety of sources, with a large portion of which from [http://www.furaffinity.net/user/Hobbpanda Hobbpanda], another local furry. Summercat has set two rules for any picture he begs from artists, that the artist draw something, and sign it.

== Presidential Plans ==

Bengaley Summercat, under his real life name Henry Thiel, will be running for President under the Bull-Moose Party in the 2020 Elections. A formal announcement of candidacy will be announced when his campaign website, Thiel2020.com, launches.

[[Image:RowrBrazzle-17.jpg|thumb|right|Rowrbrazzle #17. Cover art by [[Mike Kazaleh]]]]
'''''Rowrbrazzle''''', also known as '''''Brazzle''''', is an [[wikipedia:amateur press association|amateur press association]] (APA) magazine devoted to [[wikipedia:funny animals|funny animal]] cartoon illustration, that for a long time was a bulwark for [[furry fandom]]. The word is a misspelling of "rowrbazzle!", an exclamation used at times by the characters in [[wikipedia:Walt Kelly|Walt Kelly's]] comic-strip "[[wikipedia:Pogo|Pogo]]".

==History==
''Rowrbrazzle'' was co-created by [[Marc Schirmeister]] and [[John Cawley]] in 1983 as a result of the cessation of its predecessor, ''[[Vootie]]'', with the first issue being distributed to its first contributors in February 1984. [[Fred Patten]] took over as an official editor five years later, and as served in this position for the last 17 years, until he had to step down in 2005 due to illness. [[Mike Curtis]], [[Edd Vick]], [[Michael Susko]] and others served as interim editors until the new permanent editor, [[William Earl Haskell]] was found.

The first issue was distributed to the association membership in February 1984, it is still published as of July 2007 (with over 90 quarterly issues so far), and it is continuing its uninterrupted 20+ year run. Number 94 is due the Summer of 2007, in a continuing uninterrupted run of 24 years. Rowrbrazzle is always looking for new members. Furry [[writer]]s, [[artist]]s, or journalists are invited to contact Haskell or any of the interim editors.

==Significance==

[[Fred Patten]], onetime editor of ''Rowrbrazzle'', had this view of 'Brazzle's significance:
{{q|My thesis is that furry fandom coalesced out of sf fandom and comics fandom, blending elements from both of them and achieving its own critical mass in 1983/1984. The first clear signs of the independent furry fandom were the creation of its first apa, Rowrbrazzle, and the decision by some fans to self-publish furry comic books because there seemed to be enough fans of stories with talking animals to support them (as distinct from earlier attempts to self-publish comics which had to hope for sufficient sales from the general public alone.)
...
Rowrbrazzle started in February 1984. Since it was specifically an apa for writing and drawing funny animals as a genre and discussing the new fandom that was forming about them, it is a handy landmark to say that "furry fandom existed at this time"[http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/mglyer/club/page2.html]}}

Why the heck did you bother to make one of me? I'm not exactly notable aside from small portions of a few sectors of FA, and the Socal Furries... I'm just curious why you bothered and such o.o; [[User:Bengaley|Bengaley]] 23:15, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

:Hi there, Bengaley,
:Why did I make an entry on you? Well, WikiFur doesn't have the Notability standards of Wikipedia, so it can cover all of furry fandom, and that means we can have articles on everyday furries, not just the Big Names. I think I first came across your name when I saw your youtube video about there being (shock, horror) porn on the internet.

:Also, by including articles on a broad cross-section of the fandom, we can, for example, look at the number of people in the different species categories, and estimate which phenotypes are the most common.--[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 04:47, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
::Well, there's the thing - I didn't think I was notable enough in just the general sense of the word for someone to put up a Wikifur article on me! *chuckles* Nice to know you saw my sucktastic video of doom. Thanks for creating all these new articles about people! A couple of small points:
* "Soandso is an x who lives in" reads more smoothly, and is more grammatical, than "Soandso is an x living in"
== How to do bot vandal rollbacks ==

In cases of mass vandalism (page blanking and the like) it is acceptable to use the "bot" rollback method. To do this, go to the user's contribution page by clicking their name or IP address in the userlist, then add &bot=1 to the URL (or ?bot=1 if there is no ? already in the URL). Press enter to reload that URL, and then just open all the rollback links in new tabs. This will give the initial edit a "bot" flag, so that only your revert will be visible in [[Special:Recentchanges|recent changes]]. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 19:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
== Image:FrizbeeFursuit.JPG ==

Hello Higgs Raccoon,

This is in regards to ''[[:Image:FrizbeeFursuit.JPG]]''. It has not been tagged with a copyright status. This can be a complicated area, so I can try to help if you need any. The Wikipedia [[Wikipedia:WP:IUP|Image use policy]] may give some background, but it isn't policy here.

'''Why <nowiki>{{fursona}}</nowiki> was not a usable tag for this image:'''
:The way I see it is that <nowiki>{{fursona}}</nowiki> is sort of a "fair use" claim; a fursona drawing is a like a "logo" for that furry, so a low-resolution graphic of a fursona drawing is the only way to illustrate what the fursona looks like. Pictures of fursuits are not unique in that way; anyone can take a picture of one.

To deal with this image, there are a few choices:

* If you are the copyright holder, release it under a free license, for example:
** [[Wikipedia:Public domain|Public domain]] <nowiki>{{PDImage}}</nowiki>
** [[Wikipedia:Creative Commons|Creative Commons]] Attribution-ShareAlike <nowiki>{{Cc-by-sa-2.5}}</nowiki>
** [[Wikipedia:GFDL|GFDL]] <nowiki>{{GFDL}}</nowiki>
* If you are asserting that this image is usable under fair use, add an appropriate fair use tag. A very basic summary is that fair use is used for commentary, criticism and review on the image when no free image could be used instead. Some fair use tags are:
** Logos: <nowiki>{{logo}}</nowiki>
** Covers: <nowiki>{{Cover}}</nowiki>
** Comic panels: <nowiki>{{Comic-panel}}</nowiki>
* If the image is already under a free license, provide information on the license, and tag the image if you can.
* If you would like the image to be deleted, ask any [[WikiFur:Administrators|administrator]]

To see a list of current copyright tags available on WikiFur, see [[:Category:Image copyright tags]]
If the copyright status is not resolved, the image may be deleted.

Unless you have a question for me specifically, I'd prefer responses on the page for the image. --[[User:Rat|Rat]] 01:25, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
== Re: Edits to [[AussieHusky]] ==

Hi Simba. I notice you reverted the edits made to the entry on [[AussieHusky]] (and eventually blocked those who made them). Although it could have been written a little better (and was unreferenced), I believe it *was* a legitimate attempt to add to the entry. On the OzFurry mailing list, AussieHusky did claim to have made chocolates for the event, which were going to be given out as prizes at some point. -- [[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 21:32, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
::Well, the reason I blocked the person who made them was that as well as the fact that they created a nonsense article, and when that was deleted, registered an account and recreated the article. The edits to [[AussieHusky]] weren't enough alone (IMHO) to be a problem. It's a little unclear to me what exactly this person is up to as I got an e-mail asking for the ban to be lifted, and I replied saying if they'd stop creating nonsense articles I would lift the ban. I went back and read the deleted article and I don't see any other way to interpret what was there other than as a nonsense article. [[User:Simba B|Simba B]] 21:36, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
== Your edit ==
In regards to [http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=Frizbee&curid=19648&diff=123081&oldid=123078 your edit], we don't totally revert people for good faith edits, even if they aren't familiar with our customs. I know that this editor is the subject of the article. Like [http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=User_talk%3AEarthFurst&diff=122830&oldid=122827 GreenReaper says], we can discuss it, but just reverting the subject over what could be a reasonable edit can lead to frustration. --[[User:Rat|Rat]] 11:13, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

:I guess it depends on how you define "reasonable". When so much of an article is stripped (and the information is still online for anyone to look up), and done by an anonymous user with no explanation, it starts to look less like a good faith edit and more like subtle vandalism. --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 11:19, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
::I understand that. I do know that it is being edited by the subject though, and there may be privacy or accuracy concerns, though I haven't asked about the exact reasoning for the edits. ::: <shrug> Done. Whatever.
:Actually, no permission is necessary. I would direct you to the text that is printed below the text box every time you edit something on WikiFur: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then don't submit it here." That is the nature of wikis - they are the product of the community, not of one individual.----[[User:DuncanDaHusky|DuncanDaHusky]]([[User talk:DuncanDaHusky|talk]]) 13:46, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Per the editing notice: As the page is of a personal nature, I would gladly move it back to [[User:Brushwell_Clinton]], since it appears all articles in the main namespace are public domain. ==Newspaper Articles==
Hi GR. Just writing wondering if you can clarify the way articles on newspaper pieces should look?

Sine has gone and removed the italicization of the title from two entries I put in today: [[Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My‎]], [[March of the Furries]]. (I'd originally copied the format from an earlier article about a Denver Westword piece: [[Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits]].)

Is Sine's way correct? (It seems to be, I think Sine is using an accepted style, but I thought I'd double-check before spending time going through the list of Media Coverage articles and standardizing them all - there are few in there that italicize the title).

Also, some articles on newspaper/magazine columns have the "(year) events" category whilst others don't. What's the correct thing here?
-- [[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 20:56, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

:I would generally agree with this. The titles of newspaper articles are typically encased in quotes if there is a need to offset them from the text. Given that they are already bolded (being the title of the page) this is probably not necessary. We would italicize the name of the publication.

:It's tempting to suggest that we should use [[:Category:News by date]] for this, but it's probably a good idea to keep the two concepts separate. We do have the [[Timeline of media coverage]] for non-furry media. I don't think the date categorization really adds much in this case, so it could be removed (they're not really an event). --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 22:03, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
That tag is routinely put at the end of short articles to encourage people to flesh them out a bit. (For example, you might say a say words about how you discovered furry fandom, what part of the fandom you are involved in (art? costuming? gaming?), what species your fursona is if you have one, stuff like that.) You can remove the tag just by removing it in the article's edit window.

:Oh, and you can sign your posts in Talk pages (like this one) with four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>) --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 15:25, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

::Thank you. Im still learning the setup from this place in comparison to those that use BBCode, but I'm not yet ready to make/add signatures for here.{{unsigned|Vosur}}

:::Signatures aren't anything fancy - just put "<nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki>" after anything you add on a Talk page and your name, the time, and the date will be automatically appended. (Otherwise it makes it harder to keep track of the conversation.) --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 16:02, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for creating a stub article about me. I went ahead and added on a link to my podcast novel. If you'd like to contact me, send me an e-mail (skunksmells@gmail.com) and I'll give you my IM info.

:Hello Marcus. You're most welcome.
:In reply to what you were wondering on your recent LJ entry, I got your birthday and location from your LJ profile. (I don't go digging too hard for information, and only include birthdays, etc, on wikifur if someone has already happily put that data up in a public profile somewhere.) --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 22:40, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Mister Higgs Raccoon,

I realize I'm a new user on WikiFur, but do I not have the right to add content to a page that is about me? I attempted to add a link for my Fur Affinity profile, under the name of my second fursona, Atnarko, and you removed it. If I add content and someone comes along to smite it from existence immediately afterward, my already plain description is going to become even more pitiful. Is there a little dance I have to do or a handshake I must learn before my additions will stick?

Yotie / Atnarko
--[[User:Yotie|Yotie]] 08:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

:Hello, Yotie,
:Of course you have the right to edit/add content to a Wikifur page that is about you. (This being a wiki, anyone can edit anything.)
:I undid the pair of edits you made on December 1st as it appeared you weren't sure what you were doing (mysteriously inserting the wikifur logo and making links to your User page that had already been handled by the Contributor tag), and I thought you needed help getting things back to their original state. I hadn't noticed the FA link amidst all your other changes or I'd have retained it.
:Clearly you're getting the hang of editing and are more familiar with wikifur's style now - your edits today (Dec 4th) are much better!--[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 16:19, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

== Wikifur Entry ==

Hey, thanks for getting me started! I've been meaning to make an entry for awhile, but *shrug* I've only the question...

In 2006, Summercat attended his first Furry convention, Califur II, where he started his sketchbook (see below.)
