Re my WikiFur entry
Just noticed that you had stuck in an unwritten link from the Kay Shapero entry for the Anthropomorphic Literature and Arts Association. I had deliberately NOT put a link there, because the ALAA exists to produce the Recommended List and present the Ursa Major awards, both of which have links right after the reference. So I figured it would be superfluous. What do you think? I could probably write an entry, but it'd only be a couple of lines long and probably wouldn't contain much you can't find out from the other two links. --Yealurowluro

:(I'm not GR, but we never have a shortage of opinions around here! :-) Actually, even the small amount of information you mention would be useful, if only to define the parametes of the organization and to show that it is independent of any other organization out there (when I first saw mention of ALAA, I erroneously conflated it with AAE, which is a different beastie entirely). ----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 00:28, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

:That's basically why I put it in there (also because I rememebered it was linked in Ursa Major Awards). If you really don't think it should have an entry, take it out, but as Duncan mentions, Anthropomorphic Arts and Education seems to do well enough. It's a short page, but it gives a link to the organization, and as it is a separate page it can be put into :Category:Organizations which helps us keep a tab on all such organizations. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:19, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

To Stub or Not to Stub?
Is there a guideline as to when a short article (which just doesn't have much to say) doesn't need to be tagged as a stub? 1000 bytes, etc.? Wouldn't stop anyone from dropping in to make changes anyway. Just curious. --Frizzy 23:11, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

:I usually go by the rule of whether I feel there's anything that ought to be added (but that I'm not sure about or don't know or don't feel like putting in right now). -- Siege(talk) 05:02, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

:The general rule is "if there is probably something that could be added fairly easily by someone who doesn't know much about the topic" (say with a few minutes of google searching) then it is a stub. If not, then it is not a stub, although if you can describe it entirely in a couple of lines, it is probably a strong candidate for merging with another article. --GreenReaper(talk) 08:04, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Categorization?
Thanks for the quick feedback! I was looking through WikiFur's style guide and had another question: Are there any guidelines on category order at the end of articles? I was going through alphabetically, but it might be helpful to define this in the style guide if there's a prefered order to doing this. --Frizzy 19:10, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

:Technically any order is fine. In practice, for articles about people I've tended to do People and then subcategories of People (note that we only do this category + subcategory thing with people so as to get a full listing in that category), and then their location and year of birth/death. In general I would put the most important or relevant category first, but that's just a personal style. --GreenReaper(talk) 20:44, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Requesting page protection
How do I go about requesting my page to be locked so that only myself and administrators can edit it? --Banrai

:You just did. I'm at work right now so I can't really look that closely to ensure it's appropriate, but I will later this evening.

:Be aware that "your page" is User:Banrai. Banrai is "the page about you". As such it is expected to be reasonably complete, and I do find it odd that there is no mention or reference to the actions mentioned in a certain LiveJournal entry that comes up when searching for your name. What's past is past, and it is important not to dwell on it, but it does deserve recording so that people understand how things ended up as they are today (and so we don't get complaints on the talk page from people who think things are being hidden). I will try and see about that tonight as well. I'm not a concerned party other than ensuring the accuracy of the article, and I don't particularly want to raise any drama about it, so fear not - it'll be brief.

:Oh, and just something I noticed glancing over the page - you only need to link to other articles the first time a linkable name comes up, not every time. It's assumed that people will already have clicked on the link if they want to go to it. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 15:04, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

::I added a small blurb about... that. But feel free to edit it as you see fit. It's a very personal preferance that the article itself not actually be linked, since it IS over and done, but.. yeah, you're the mod. I also went back in and fixed the massive-linking, so it looks a little cleaner now. ;3 --Banrai

:::I've not linked it. Instead, I spent a while reading various sources, then tried to give a summary of your actions, the context behind them - part of which was already evident in previous sections - and the response from others, without turning it into a duplicate of that post (or another Sibe). I think it says all that needs to be said about that without taking up too much of the article. If people really want to know more, I'm sure they can find out for themselves - but I suspect for most it is enough that they will not feel the need to do so.

:::As for your request, the article seems a good one as it stands. I will post a notice on the talk page, and unless there is significant dissent from the WikiFur community I will enable the page protection within a day or so.
It's about this time that I think bringing back the "patrol this edit" marker may be a good idea. It just has to be explained clearly: "These markers are for admin to make rounds of patrols through the various edits," and so forth. That way, once a proxy is confirmed, all wikis have the option of automatically banning it. -- Siege(talk) 06:24, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

If at a later point you decide that you no longer want the page protected then any admin can help you remove it at request. --GreenReaper(talk) 06:35, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Do we have an understood point where we block for longer periods, or infinitely? -- Sine 03:20, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

:I would say go up by one category per repeated offense - hours, days, weeks, months, years (or forever). If all they do is vandalism feel free to skip a step. We're not Wikipedia, we've not really got time to deal with trouble again and again. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:32, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Edit patrols
It's about this time that I think bringing back the "patrol this edit" marker may be a good idea. It just has to be explained clearly: "These markers are for admin to make rounds of patrols through the various edits," and so forth. I'd also like to suggest a proxy banlist which is shared across Wikia. That way, once a proxy is confirmed, all wikis have the option of automatically banning it. -- Siege(talk) 06:24, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
:I would support the creation of a shared proxy banlist with all of Wikia. Is there a feature for this currently in mediawiki or would it have to be added through some sort of module? -- DeVandalizer 06:33, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

:This might be a good idea. We are getting a lot of edits - certainly more than I manage to have the time to look at, let alone edit. We can probably try enabling it for a time.

:I think there is actually a proxy blacklist. We may be using a service, in which case it probably doesn't get everything. JasonR on the live chat would be the perosn to talk to about that (or he's available via technical at wikia dot com, or the wikia-l mailing list, or the wikia LiveJournal). --GreenReaper(talk) 08:12, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Bastique: gay/bi/straight => gay but straight friendly (I understand it's more accurate)

<div style="float:right">__TOC__</div>
The Lining is a gay, straight friendly, bar in Tapestries MUCK. It was originally mostly focused on BDSM, this being the initial focus of the MUCK. The oldest parts of the bar are based on a bar of the same name in Floral Park, New York that has since been replaced by a church.

Overview
The Lining was constructed October 15th, 1996 and originally contained only the two bars and a bathroom. Over the years it has expanded with a hottub section, pool, a rooftop bar, and several other attractions. The bar is Adult themed, like the MUCK, and the owner/builder takes great pains to see that things run well, having hired a manager and several bouncers to deal with things when he can not be present.

The Lining contains many firsts for Tapestries, several of which have been copied repeatedly (like the non-consent room), which the owner finds rather flattering.

History
Back in 1996 most furs on Tapestries tended to congregate in the plaza, and there really were few places, if any, that furs tended to go to and hang out. The plaza at the time tended to be overly crowded and was drawing a fair amount of twinks and obnoxious bashers of many people's personal preferences.

A friend asked if Banner would build a place for people to hang out, where those who were causing problems could easily be ejected without having to bother the wizards, and which would be harder to find not being at the main portal. The Lining officially opened its doors to the public on 15 October 1996, and has maintained a surprisingly high level of success ever since.

Clientele
The Lining is a Gay/Straight/Bi friendly bar, and the owner and the hired staff will not tolerate anyone who discriminates against anyone due to their sexual preference.

Atmosphere
The Lining is a BDSM bar, inline with the original theme of the MUCK. It still sticks to this theme, though the main bar is somewhat mellower than it was when it was first opened. In this light The Lining features the first 'Non-Consent' room every allowed on Tapestries, the construction of which required a great deal of negotiation between the owner/founder of the bar and White Wizard, in order to be sure that no rules were broken. It has become such a success that many other establishments have copied this feature.

Staff
The Lining originally had no staff beyond the owner/creator (Banner) for about the first six years of operation. This led to a large amount of work for the owner as there was a lot of policy that needed to be enforced. This was made easier by the help of a few friends, and several (at the time) unique features of the bar.

The front and rear bars, as well as a few other bar locations can be monitored by the owner and a select handful of people if there are complaints about a certain fur's behavior, or should other issues arise. Also the front Bartender, as well as the two Bouncers in the rear bar (the large Black Lion and the large Black Wolf), can be played remotely as well. This combined with the sweep and banish commands allowed the owner to police the bar rules.

Bouncers and Manager
As time progressed however, in order to maintain the bar's atmosphere and the owner's sanity, a recruitment drive for Bouncers took place. This was fairly successful and the bar currently employs a staff of part time bouncers who assist. Also the orginal group of friends have maintained their priviledges, though they are not on the offical bouncer list.

The Manager (Whoas) of the bar was hired when the owner himself could not devote the necessary time to running the bar, and that has worked out so well that he has been kept on.

Philosophy
The Bar is popular for several reasons. The theme and the people who hang out there are of course very important. Also important as well is the enforcement of the rules and the owner's personal commitment to an even and fair application of the rules to everyone. He plays no favorites and goes out of his way to treat all patrons the same, even if he has a personal dislike of some of those people.

This at times has been extremely hard, and very time consuming. Over the years there have been repeated attempts by different cliques to take over the bar and run others out. The amount of grief at times has been surprising for a game, and the reactions of furs when they find that in The Lining, you are actually held <I>accountable</I> for your actions (just like in an RL bar), has been educational.

The Bar's layout, the descriptions, the overall 'Karma', have been carefully designed even if it does not appear to be obvious. Some things have been added due to the owner's sense of humor (such as the April Fool's day changes). other things have been added to remember events that took place, or people who were once there: Sunhawk's perch, the waterline from when Kati flooded the bar. And then there is the Bar Wolf (Wolph) and the few odd secrets not mentioned here that you'll just have to find out for yourself.

Layout
The original layout of the bar at the time of opening was as follows:

Entrance
The is the area of arrival for the Tport pad, and also contains the Bar's bulletin board. From here you can either go into the Bar, or the Alleyway. You can see here that the building is a very plain and austere concrete block with a heavy metal fire door as the entrance.

Front Bar
The front bar is more of a 'nice' place, almost like an 'old man's bar' of the type found in the northeast. Plush overstuff seats in booths with flormica tables. Food and drink are available here. This room is based exactly on the same room in the RL Lining.

Back Bar
The back bar is painted all in black, has some junk suspended from the ceilings, loud music, cougar waiters in heavy bondage, and naked vixen bartenders in slave collars. The music is constant, and sometimes loud, it's dark, and two very large bouncers patrol the bar. (Yes the bouncers are modeled after two friends). This room is based almost exactly on the RL lining.

Hallway
Just a hallway, though some folks do hang out in it. It's main purpose it to join the bar to the bathroom and the Gate.

Bathroom
Tapestries' first non-consentual play space, one of several inovations in The Lining that has been copied repeated throughout the MUCK. This room was inspired by several events, and one person (names are withheld to protect the guilty). In the Bathroom, remember to read the Sign if you haven't been there before or recently.

This room is based almost exactly on the real life Lining - the RL one didn't have the pipes, and was a bit smaller, otherwise the stains, etc, were all there.

Alley
Just a place to play a little basketball, and hold the dumpster. The backdoor to the bar is here, as well as the entrance to the new underage club next door.

Gate
The gate isn't a room, but for a good many years was a locked barrier that you either had to find a way around, (there was a hidden one), get the combo from someone who knew it, or be on the lock list so you could pass through. The basement areas were originally a series of private play spaces for people who needed one, but in time the lock was taken off and the space was opened to the general bar public.

Landing
Again, just a place to pause. The entrance to the Office is here, as well as the Hot Tubs, and the stairs continue down to the Basement.

Office
My Office. Also my rooms and my Mate's rooms are linked off of here, along with some bar functional stuff. The Manager is often seem lounging about here as well.

Basement
It's pretty far down below the bar, so any noises here don't penetrate to the outside world, and vice versa.

North Dungeon
Off of the Basement, a standard rock hewn room with chains for restraining those in need of punishment.

East Dungeon
Off of the Basement, a sort of 'examination' room, with white washed walls, and examination table, and other assorted instruments of 'examination'.

Macro Room
Off of the Basement, this room is Huge!, and is magically done up to appear as if you're outside in a large open field, unless you're near the door or one of the walls.
Macro and Vore play tend to take place in this area.

Additions
The following rooms have been added over time, mainly due to requests from the patrons.

Leather Bar
This room was added to recapture more of the original BDSM play that went on in the bar in its early years. This is an IC only area.

Chill-Out Room
Also an IC only area, but as the name implies, for 'Chilling out'.

Boxing Room
A large Boxing Ring is in this room, and there is an attached locker room as well as a shower area off of that.

Hot Tub and Pool Area
This is a large area featuring a large public Hot Tub and Pool, modeled after those found in the Nexus on FurryMuck. There are also three private Hot Tub rooms with lockable doors for those wishing privacy.

Rooftop Bar
More of a relaxed area, for general chat and just hanging out. The BDSM theme of the bar is almost invisible here, and the open air bar has a nice view of the weather.

Viewing Area
This is off of the rooftop bar, and allows you to interact with the furs in the cage, without actually going into the cage.

Cage
It's a Cage. Careful going in, sometimes the door locks and you can't get out.

Voyeur Room
This series of new rooms is a recent addition, and depending on use may or may not survive. Performers in one room can be watched and heard by furs in another one. The performers may lock the door to keep out others, but have no idea who is watching.

Club Syzygy
Club Syzygy is an underage club built for ageplayers on the Muck, at the request of several Tapestries players. It was built next door to the bar, on bar property, which is why it is mentioned here under additions.

Rules
The rules for The Lining are presented here for reference. Putting a lock on the entries to the bar was not something the owner wanted to do, however he values fairness above all and without forcing people to read them, he was finding it hard to punish violaters. And at the time of the lock being implemented there were an unbeleivable amount of them.

Note that the rules presented here were current as of October 21, 2005. They may have changed since then.

<tt>Welcome to The Lining. This is a Gay/Bi/Straight BDSM Bar. It's the oldest bar on Tapestries, but first the RULES.
#If it is discovered that you did not read all of the rules, you will be banned. Permenantly. No excuses.
#Do not debate rules with the owner (Banner) or the Bouncers. You may bring up issues or request clarification via email. But no debates.
#If someone is scening, and you break it up, you are in the wrong. PERIOD.
#The Front bar is for socializing. Sex and scening IS ALLOWED however in ALL parts of the bar.
#The Back Bar is PRIMARILY for BDSM play and scening. The goal is not to have it overrun with OOC debates and arguments. So please try to respect those who are IC
#The Rear Bar is consentual on the whisper and OOC basis, that means that yes, someone can start what 'appears' to be a non-consentual scene with you, if you don't like it you can safeword IC'ly and they must stop. Or tell them in whispers IC or OOCLY to stop, and they MUST stop.
#Good scenes always -appear- non-consentual to those who are watching, that is what scening is about and what makes a good one.
#The Bathroom is a 'non-consentual' space. This means that safewords are IGNORED. You go in there, you get what you get. OOC Safewords STILL APPLY however. But don't go in there if you are not into that kind of thing. Furthermore read the sign in the Bathroom for more details.
#If a room has a sign in it, Read it! There may be special rules for that room. IGNORANCE of the rules is NOT an excuse.
#Punishment for most errors will be 1 week banishment. Repeated infractions will lead to a permanent ban. Severe infractions may lead directly to a permanent ban.
#SAFEWORDS MUST BE HONORED. If not I will talk to the wizards about banning you from the ENTIRE Muck! If you don't know what a safeword is, please find out before entering the bar.
#No BLOOD or violent stuff in the Front, Rear or Rooftop bars. No figthing no nasty physical stuff, no stranglation, no killing, no destruction of bar property.
#NO ANGST! This isn't a pity party, it's a BDSM bar!
#No one under the age of 18 in Real Life is allowed in the Bar! Ever!
#Age Play is allowed in Club Syzygy only! Not in the Bar or Bar environs.
#The Leather Bar area is IC only! No OOC there please! People engaging in ANY ooc behavour will be swept, possibly without warning! Do/ not use the OOC speak or pose command there either.
#Power Idling will not be tolerated and is a bannable offense! (Power idling is using a trigger to make it look like you are not idling when in fact you are). Ignoring questions from the bouncers is considered proof of Power Idling.
#Sometimes I do monitor the bars, there is also a bouncing staff (type 'Bouncers' to get a list). There are also 'puppet' bouncers that can be played remotely.

Bastique: a gay/bi/straight bar is...well... a bar.

The Lining is a gay, but straight-friendly, bar in Tapestries MUCK. Founded by Banner in October 1996, the bar was originally focused on BDSM, but, like its host, has diversified over time. The oldest parts of the bar - the two bars and a bathroom - are based on a bar of the same name in Floral Park, New York later replaced by a church.

In 1996 there were few places to go and hang out on Tapestries. At the time, the plaza tended to be overly crowded and was drawing a fair amount of twinks and obnoxious bashers of many people's personal preferences. The Lining was created as a place where such people could be easily removed.

Over the years the bar has expanded with a hottub section, pool, a rooftop bar, and several other attractions. The Lining contains many firsts for Tapestries, several of which have been copied repeatedly (like the non-consent room). It remains one of the most popular places on the MUCK, with over fifty people present on busy nights.

The bar is adult-themed, like the MUCK, and the owner/builder takes great pains to see that things run well, having hired a manager and several bouncers to deal with things when he can not be present. Discrimination against anyone due to their sexual preference is not tolerated, and various monitoring systems are in place to facilitate this. (more...)

It was pointed out to me on the chat, and I have to agree, that this article seems to of had its NPOV distorted some what since its original staring as a featured article. Possibly over time and with just little micro-edits the article seems to of turned in to something which seems to get an almost daily blanking. In concentrating on the Furry related events to SA, the article appears biased. I think if we reworded and reworked the article to list a few more of the general non-furry related positive things (I'm sure there are some ;) ) it might make people less prone to wipe it even if it goes a little out of our normal subject remit. Thoughts anyone? --Nidonocu - talk 16:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
:General non-furry related positive things? There was the (attempted) Hurricane Katrina relief fund - $30,000 before PayPal hijacked the charity. $22,000 for body armor sent to US troops in Iraq. $6,000 for children with terminal illnesses. Those are the big ones with dollar values attached. Most of the NPOV-diversion is probably due to committed journaling of groups and individuals with no official connection to SA - terminally unfunny SALJers and other mouthbreathers who think taunting the furries is their ticket to e-stardom in the SA Forums. Not every catchphrase screaming attentionwhore with :10bux: is a member of SA community. --the Shrike 19:38, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Better Days is a comedy/drama comic written by Jay Naylor. The strip began on April 18, 2003 and continues through the present. It is updated twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.

Better Days is about Fisk and Lucy Black, two fraternal twin siblings growing up in the U.S. state of Georgia, and their mother, Sheila. All of the Blacks are cats. The comic is divided up into "chapters" (story arcs) of varying length, each one portraying a significant and sometimes difficult episode in the life of the Blacks. Fisk and Lucy are also seen in Badly Drawn Kitties by Mat Sherer.

The comic is known for its conservative outlook, as well as for featuring controversial and sensitive issues such as incest, the Vietnam war, racial issues (Naylor loosely equates species with races in as similar way to Art Spiegelman - European whites are felines and canines, Semitic people are represented as mice, African-Americans as hyenas, etc.), rape, and sexual abuse. There is profanity and some violence, but the comic is not sexually explicit.

Chapter Summaries
spoiler

* Chapter 1: "Honest Girls" - Fisk has his sister Lucy deliver a love note to a popular girl, who turns him down after reading it aloud to her friends.
* Chapter 2: "How to Impress" - While Fisk attempts to impress Jenny's parents, Lucy refers him to a Bible verse where David presented foreskins to King Saul in order to marry his daughter.
* Chapter 3: "My Sister's Keeper" - While taking care of his sick sister, Fisk accidentally gives Lucy the wrong medicine, resulting in a family emergency with Lucy's life in the balance and Fisk's guilt issues overwhelming him.
* Chapter 4: "The Bedbutter Chronicles" - An example of one of Naylor's more political arcs, Fisk's mouth gets him in trouble with his Democratic teacher. When Sheila comes in for a parent-teacher conference, she and Mrs. Bedbutter get into a heated argument dealing with feminist issues.
* Chapter 5: "Predators" - Sheila goes on a date with Principal Longfellow, whom she met in the last chapter. He lies about having known Sheila's deceased husband during the war, and when she confronts him about it, he rapes her. Fisk catches him, and knocks him unconscious with a baseball bat. Longfellow dies under suspicious circumstances while undergoing reconstructive surgery (it is hinted that Sheila's dead husband's CO, the friend that alerted her to the lie, is involved in Longfellow's death).
* Chapter 6: "Tough Love" - An 11-year-old female hyena shows her interest in 10-year-old Fisk; the two end up having sex. The FBI discovers that the hyena's father is wanted for murder and rape, and it's implied that he sexually abuses his children, a reason why the girl insisted on sex with Fisk.
* Chapter 7: "Of Mice and Idiots" - A new year at school, and most of the girls have hit puberty - except for Elizabeth, whom Fisk asks out after Lucy blackmails him.
* Chapter 8: "Chess" - Fisk has a discussion about war and human nature over a game of chess with a family friend.
* Chapter 9: "Lucy's Mom" - Ted, a football player at school, asks Lucy out in order to get closer to her mom.
* Chapter 10: "Brother's Arms" - When Lucy finds out the truth behind Ted dating her, she's an emotional wreck. When Fisk comforts her, things take a turn for the intimate.
* Chapter 11: "Armed and Amorous" - Ready to date again but concerned about safety after the Longfellow incident, Sheila seeks self-defense training from Sam Tobs, a next-door neighbor in a cold marriage. They end up becoming intimate, only giving fodder to the private investigator Tobs' jealous wife hired.
* Chapter 12: "Exemplary Girls" - It's time for the Halloween Dance, and Fisk is hooked up with a cheerleader's sister who turns out to be the polar opposite of her sibling - a Wiccan lesbian. Womanizer Randy asks Lucy to the dance, which turns into nothing short of a drama fest. Lucy also becomes worried she may have caught something when she discovers Randy didn't use a condom while having sex with her after the dance.
* Chapter 13: "Thicker Than Water" - The Black family visits relatives when they hear their grandfather is dying. Fisk decides to join the army.
* Chapter 14: "All the Wrong Places" - Lucy seeks out relationship advice from her roommates while getting used to life at the University of Georgia. She ends up fooling around with the boyfriend of one of her roommates, whom has been unsuspectingly cheated on for years.
WikiFur is a cooperative attempt to record information of use to the furry community. Yes, that's a broad statement! If it's related in any way to furry community or culture, chances are it's worth mentioning on WikiFur. You are the best judge of that, so be bold in updating pages!

The above is a Wikipedia guideline. In general, Wikipedia policies and guidelines are good things to follow here, too, because they've been tried and tested over time. Many topics here may also be covered to an extent in Wikipedia; we aim to cover furry topics to a greater depth than might be considered appropriate for a general-purpose encyclopaedia.

As such, a few exceptions to Wikipedia customs include:
*Our threshold for vanity pages is much lower. If there is anything about a person which might be of interest to the community, it is worth recording. If you are writing about yourself, you might want to put personal activities on your wiki user page, then link to it from the main page about you. For an example, see Creatures:User:GreenReaper and Creatures:GreenReaper.
*As a generalization of the above, you should not be concerned if what you write is only of interest to a small group of people. Purely personal projects or websites might be best discussed on a page about you, or on your wiki user page, but almost anything has a place somewhere.
<div style="float:right;padding-left:5px;">__TOC__</div>
Purpose
WikiFur is (mostly) a collaborative project by the furry fandom to build an encyclopedia for and about itself. It is freely editable and aims for a neutral point of view. For more information, see what WikiFur is, and what it is not, as well as checking out the Community Central. Please note that while we may make reasonable attempts to ensure the factual basis of articles, we can't check everything, and so WikiFur may contain errors or omissions. If you see such a problem, the best solution is to fix it yourself!

If you'd like to know a bit about the history of WikiFur, and why and how we differ from similar projects like Wikipedia, you could read GreenReaper's manifesto, WikiFur - a home for the furry community, and his subsequent LiveJournal promotion, WikiFur - By and for the furry community. Please note that though the vision has stayed relatively constant, some details may have changed.

Request
One thing - there has often been and probably always will be conflict between people and groups within our community, as with every community. It would be nice if these conflicts did not spread to here. Please do not use the Wiki as a platform for your personal disagreements. The policy against personal attacks does apply to WikiFur, as do all Wikia policies.

If you think something you type is likely to be taken as a personal attack, or derogatory to another person in the community, please consider whether you could phrase it in a more neutral way. If in doubt as to how to do this, ask one of the administrators how to word it, or even to add it in for you. Remember that there are always other pages you could be editing, so if you find yourself in an argument with someone, try writing on another page for a while; after all, you can always come back later!

Thank you for reading. :-)

Rating
This site is not yet rated as a whole. While the majority of content is unlikely to rise above PG, there are several areas that may warrant a higher rating - use common sense while surfing (and editing). Remember that language or content you feel offended by may not be objectionable to others. Please ensure that anything you add is within the law of the United States and the state of Florida - if you have to check, ask yourself if it really needs including!

Statistics
There are several forms of statistics that can be viewed if you're interested:
*The wikistats give a good idea of how we're doing, both singly and compared to other wikia
*The web usage statistics give information on what pages people are going to, and where they're coming from - useful for knowing who has linked to the wiki and how much it is being used (down right now due to server changes)
* The local statistics has information on pageviews and number of pages, among other things - in theory we have NUMBEROFARTICLES pages, but the wikistats above may be more revealing
* The Statistics Record and stats in comparison pages show WikiFur's growth over time and its comparison to other major wikis based upon the information on the Statistics pages of each
* WikiFur has a Google Analytics account, which provides various reports used by the furry cabal, both to measure the results of their promotional activities and as a guide to future development. If you wish to have access to these, please contact GreenReaper. You do not need to be an administrator, you just need a gmail or other google account.

Linking
You might want to use one of these buttons to link to WikiFur, although if you have a design of your own, feel free to use it - and thanks! When linking, use either http://wikifur.com or http://furry.wikia.com

RSS/Atom newsfeeds
Want great links to ever-changing furry content for your websites/news portals? Use WikiFur's newsfeeds! You'll probably want the recent changes feed (rss, atom), but there are also feeds for new pages (rss, atom) and other dynamic pages - just look for the rss or atom links in the toolbox at the left of these pages.

Database backups
WikiFur is part of Wikia, which runs regular backups to a separate (though not offsite) server. Some members of the community also take copies of these backups from time to time. If you wish to join them, see the database download page for details and a sample script. You are welcome to use copies of WikiFur database for any purpose covered by our license, including data mining, site mirroring or offline publication, as long as any content copied is covered by the GFDL.
