At many furry conventions, there was an Internet room (or computer room), which consisted of several computers that were networked together and an Internet connection. People attending the convention used the computers to check email, surf the web, or log on to various MUCKs. Many of the Internet rooms at American furry conventions were run by Tigerwolf.

During the early to mid 2010s, conventions stopped setting up internet rooms due to lack of demand (caused by the increasing ubiquity of smartphones).

Meme

Bally:

A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a single or multiple cultures. While genes transmit biological information, memes are said to transmit ideas and beliefs.

A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to selective pressures.

BAWWWWW! (the number of "w"s may vary, although it's generally set to five) is a furry onomatopoeia or text that appeared in a panel in Incontinent Student Bodies, a comic by Karis.

Origin
The panel comes from the second issue of Incontinent Student Bodies (first published in 2003), where Dougie (a young rabbit) accidently wets his pants, causing him to cry. This prompts his fellow dormmates to put him in diapers.

Usage
The word, as both text and as a image macro meme, is used as a response on a thread or discussion to imply that the person being mentioned or attacked (normally a furry fan or furry artist) is a whiner or crybaby. It is one of the most well-known furry memes, with multiple tributes and parodies (especially among babyfurs).

Party floor

2023-08-05T04:30:25Z

Bally:

The party floor is a hotel floor that a convention designates for room parties, and is typically open from late evening to very early morning. While room parties may be hosted on any floor, the party floor provides a hub for multiple room parties to be held in close proximity. Since alcohol is served at makeshift bars, there will usually be plastic wrap on the walls and floors to make spills easier to clean. A cooldown room, featuring water and snacks, is often provided for the purpose of sobering up.

Room parties may be highly elaborate, with custom decorations, music/video playlists, and rave/disco lights (which are very easy to notice in the room's window). Since room parties are run independently, the party host is responsible for any damage or civil disorder that may arise.

Message boards, also known as bulletin boards, are a common feature at many furry conventions. They are often displayed in areas with heavy foot traffic (usually social spaces) for the purpose of advertising room parties, websites, panels, or items for sale.

Depending on the convention's policies, it may be necessary to obtain permission from convention staff before posting on a message board.

Room party

2023-05-23T03:45:27Z

Bally: Added more information

:Room Party
Room parties may be hosted by attendees in their hotel rooms in addition to formal programming and dances at conventions. The people running such conventions generally have no interest with what goes on in a particular room, so long as they do not get complaints from other members or hotel staff.

While room parties can be held in any hotel room, the party floor is reserved specifically for room parties.

Furry parties
Furry-themed room parties, held at established science fiction conventions, were the precursor to separate furmeets and have sometimes spawned entire furry conventions such as Anthrocon.

The first known funny animal fan party was the Prancing Skiltaire Party held at the 1985 Westercon. The first party to be openly referred to as a
"Furry Party" was held at the following Westercon in July 1986 by Mark Merlino and Rod O'Riley, who would later co-found ConFurence. A 20th anniversary celebration of that event was held July 1, 2006 during the 59th Westercon (known as "Conzilla") at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley.

Room parties that have been held at multiple conventions include The Frozen Oasis party, Sorien's Tea Party, and Lynx's Ice Cream Party.

Features and activities
Room parties are often centered around a specific theme or cater to a specific interest, and may be public or private. Snacks and drinks (including alcoholic beverages) are often provided. The party host (or one of their associates) will usually provide curated music, games, and other entertainment. Due to thier large size and better amenities, suites are frequently used as party rooms.

Game room

Bally: Cleanup

A game room is a room at a convention venue dedicated to games for registered attendees to play during regular operating hours of the convention. Some game rooms, such as those of Furry Weekend Atlanta, are separated into board game rooms (for board, card or other tabletop games) and video game rooms (which may host arcade machines, video game consoles, and VR headsets). As with other reserved rooms, attendees must present their conbadges to staff upon entry.
