Rowrbrazzle (also known as Brazzle) is an amateur press association (APA) magazine devoted to funny animal cartoon illustration, that for a long time was a bulwark for furry fandom. The word is a misspelling of "rowrbazzle!", an exclamation used at times by the characters in Walt Kelly's comic-strip "Pogo".

History
Rowrbrazzle was co-created by Marc Schirmeister and John Cawley in 1983 as a result of the cessation of its predecessor, Vootie, with the first issue being distributed to its first contributors in February 1984. Fred Patten took over as an official editor five years later, and as served in this position for the last 17 years, until he had to step down in 2005 due to illness. Mike Curtis, Edd Vick, Michael Susko and others are currently serving as interim editors until a new permanent editor is found.

The first issue was distributed to the association membership in February 1984, it is still published as of July 2006 (with over 90 quarterly issues so far), and it is continuing its uninterrupted 20+ year run. Number 93 is due the Spring of 2007, in a continuing uninterrupted run of 24 years. Rowrbrazzle is always looking for new members. Furry writers and artists are invited to contact any of the interim editors.

Significance
Fred Patten, onetime editor of Rowrbrazzle, had this (biased) view of 'Brazzle's significance:
:"My thesis is that furry fandom coalesced out of sf fandom and comics fandom, blending elements from both of them and achieving its own critical mass in 1983/1984. The first clear signs of the independent furry fandom were the creation of its first apa, Rowrbrazzle, and the decision by some fans to self-publish furry comic books because there seemed to be enough fans of stories with talking animals to support them (as distinct from earlier attempts to self-publish comics which had to hope for sufficient sales from the general public alone.)
:"...
:"Rowrbrazzle started in February 1984. Since it was specifically an apa for writing and drawing funny animals as a genre and discussing the new fandom that was forming about them, it is a handy landmark to say that 'furry fandom existed at this time.'"
Diana Vick is an illustrator and writer whose work has appeared in numerous different genres through the years. She began doing fan art in fanzines, including Apaloosa and BCApa back in the early eighties. One of her early influences was Wendy Pini’s Elfquest and she did artwork for many of the Elfquest fanzines.

Her introduction to furry fandom began when she met Steve Gallacci and read his anthropomorphic comic Albedo 0. Soon after she began contributing to Rowrbrazzle and Gallery and creating her own characters.

Edd Vick (no relation) invited her to do production work for MU Press, and eventually she became the art director. During her time at MU she helped create books such as Beauty of the Beasts and Wild Kingdom (now WILD!) which she also contributed artwork to. Her main character, the pirate Cap’n Kate appeared in Wild Kingdom #1 & 2 and later was featured in a full length book; Wild Kingdom #10- "WK presents the Amorous Adventures of Cap’n Kate". She teamed up with SS Crompton and Edd Vick to include Kate in Demi’s Wild Kingdom Adventures #1 published by Carnal Comics.

She contributed pin ups to Hit The Beach ’97 & ’99 by Radio Comix. She designed the uniforms for the Nightrunner stories by Tom Milliorn. One of her favorite projects was creating cloisonné pins of various characters for MU Press.

She regularly attends furry conventions on the west coast where she sells prints of her art and does commissions. She was the guest of honor at the first Conifur held in 1998. She enjoys costuming at science fiction conventions and recently did a kitsune costume at Norwescon 31.

In 1995 she began to do card art for collectable card games such as Magic the Gathering and Legends of the Five Rings. She has had around a hundred and fifty cards published in various games. In other venues, she did cleanup work for several animated series such as Gargoyles and Wild Cats and helped ink an issue of Strikeforce: Morituri for Marvel Comics.

Diana Vick resides in Seattle Washington with her husband.
