== Overview ==

Players [[roleplay]] as a Japanese [[human]] teenager who spends one month of his last summer vacation back in his rural hometown, where he has the opportunity to hang with eight of his [[anthropomorphic]] childhood friends. The first unofficial English fan translation was released in March 2012. Labeled unofficial due to the original developers not wishing for translations to be made, under threat of IP bans from the download site, this version is how many in the furry visual novel community came to know about and appreciate Morenatsu.

====Morenatsu ~Revisited~ (2017)====

Morenatsu ~Revisited~ began in November 2017 with Tumblr user DzahnDragon recreating the game with many alterations to the story in an attempt to resolve plot contrivances in the original game. Notably, '''Morenatsu ~Revisited~''' sought to bring a completion to the undeveloped routes, and flesh out the existing story. After positive reviews of its first demo, the development team expanded by three members and grouped as Stormsinger Studios. However, as time passed the game grew beyond the realm of the original game and Stormsinger Studios focused instead on a reimagining called '''Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~'''.

====Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~ (2017 - current)====

Morenatsu Homecoming is a reimagining of the Morenatsu game by Stormsinger Studios. After altering several parts of Morenatsu in its fan revival Morenatsu ~Revisited~, Stormsinger Studios started Morenatsu Homecoming using original assets based on the original Morenatsu game, altering elements such as the gameplay, character descriptions, and setting. Like Revisited, undeveloped routes are completed, and characters who were not playable in the original game are datable. Whereas in the original Morenatsu, Hiroyuki would have only one interaction per day, in Homecoming, there are multiple interactions per day. This leads to increased play time, and as paths intersect, a much more varied experience.

Homecoming has often been the topic of controversy within the furry VN scene due to the many artistic licenses taken. For example, Hiroyuki has had his species altered and is now an Arctic fox. All references to humans have also been removed, and fewer references to Japanese culture are present in Homecoming. Characters have had their ages adjusted, most likely due to legal reasons. Homecoming's art has also been criticized for having new assets traced from the original art or barely altered from their original designs.

Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~ changed hands twice. In 2019, while DzahnDragon shifted his primary focus to his original project, he handed control of Homecoming to Frostclaw, who became the primary developer in his place. In mid-2021, Frostclaw stepped down as project director, returning control to DzahnDragon. However, Frostclaw still maintains an active role in the project, as both a writer and the director of the iOS version. With this shift in leadership came the announcements that all sprites would be receiving a renewal which would see them more closely resemble those found in the original Morenatsu, while also having their unique elements to them.

Despite the varied routes and endings, several plot points are shared together amongst all the characters. These include: a welcome back party at a restaurant on August 1st, a beach trip on August 7th, and a camping trip August 14th and 15th. Whereas in the original Morenatsu, Hiroyuki would have only one interaction per day, in Homecoming, there are multiple interactions per day. This leads to increased play time, and as paths intersect, a much more varied experience.

Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~ changed hands twice. In 2019, while DzahnDragon has shifted his primary focus to his own original project, he handed control of Homecoming to Frostclaw, who became the primary developer in his place. In mid-2021, Frostclaw stepped down as project director, returning control back to DzahnDragon. However, he still maintains an active role in the project, as both a writer and the director of the iOS version. He decides to return for the month of August as his last summer vacation and stay with his grandparents in Minasato Village.

Upon arriving at the village from the bus stop, he is greeted by his childhood friend Torahiko, an anthropomorphic tiger, and attends a welcome-back party at a restaurant with several of his anthropomorphic childhood friends and new village inhabitants.

For the rest of the month, the player has the option to hang out with his friends and develop one character as a love interest, resulting in several nonlinear paths. For instance, the player may be presented with the opportunity to visit the candy store, the river, or his old school one day, but will eventually be presented with one linear path based on the love interest around the second half of the game.

Despite the varied routes and endings, several plot points are shared together amongst all the characters. These include: a welcome back party at a restaurant on August 1st, a beach trip on August 7th, and a camping trip August 14th and 15th. Some scenes that are shared amonst many characters but not all include fireworks on the riverbed on August 11t, A Bon Festival on the 22nd, and a farewell at the bus stop on the last day. In addition, most routes include a good and bad ending, with some routes having joke endings as well.

====Morenatsu ~Revisited~ (2017)====
A fan remake that rewrites the story and expands it. In November 2017, a Tumblr user by the name of DzahnDragon decided to recreate Morenatsu, while making many alterations to the story in an attempt to resolve any plot contrivances of the original game. This iteration, titled '''Morenatsu ~Revisited~''' sought to bring a completion to the undeveloped routes, and flesh out the existing story. Morenatsu ~Revisited~ released its first demo to mostly positive reviews. As development continued, another three members were added, and thus, Stormsinger Studios was created. As time passed, it became clear that new assets would be required, and as such, an artist was brought onboard. Development was eventually cancelled, and the developers moved on to develop '''Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~'''.

====Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~ (2017 - current)====
In developing '''Morenatsu ~Revisited~''', it became obvious to Stormsinger Studios that the different assets clashed too much from the original, and it was decided to start the project anew, using only original assets. This iteration would be titled '''Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~''', and it would be the birth of a completely new Morenatsu.

Homecoming has often been the topic of controversy within the furry VN scene, as many artistic licenses were taken. For example, Hiroyuki has had his species altered, and is now an arctic fox. All references of humans have also been removed, and characters have had their ages adjusted, the latter most likely due to legal reasons. Homecoming has also expanded upon the events that unfold within the story. Whereas in the original Morenatsu, Hiroyuki would have only one interaction per day, in Homecoming, there are multiple interactions per day. This leads to increased play time, and as paths intersect, a much more varied experience.

Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~ changed hands twice. In 2019, while DzahnDragon has shifted his primary focus to his own original project, he handed control of Homecoming to Frostclaw, who became the primary developer in his place. In mid-2021, Frostclaw stepped down as project director, returning control back to DzahnDragon. However, he still maintains an active role in the project, as both a writer and the director of the iOS version. With this shift in leadership came the announcements that all sprites would be receiving a renewal which would see them more closely resemble those found in the original Morenatsu, while also having their own unique elements to them.

Each character typically contains around 2-3 dates and one sex scene. Some of the characters feature varying dialogue and story paths based on player decisions, while some paths are mostly static. Many characters are based on characters from previous Jasonafex/Kabier works.

The thesis is an examination of [[furry]], [[otherkin]], and [[otakukin]] as [[wikipedia:Internet subculture|Internet subcultures]]. Sections of the thesis include aspects of [[wikipedia:Identity (social science)|self-identification]], [[fan fiction]], [[artwork]], and [[Wikipedia:Sexuality]]. The thesis's name is derided from the ability of fandom to produce performative non-human narratives and traits in a nonhuman life that is posthuman and posthumous.

==Content==

The content of the theses uses an extremely broad theoretical framework to defend its argument. The first section, the Carnival of Community, places furry internet fandoms in the context of human history. Theories as broad as Michel Foucoult's Order of things to Queer studies and Kinship theory to national are used to explain fandom involvement. Broad descriptions of internet use are also profusely. For example, pages are devoted to the interpretation of a google image in contrast with fandom creation beginning on page 28. Beginning on page 31, the definition of history is used to contextualize fan fiction. The section also describe colloquial surface level information about the fandom.

The second section details Altman's ethnographic research about the furry internet subcultures. The section details the interactions fandom members have online, their influences, and the differences with their human counterparts. However, Atlamn's research is extremely limited with a seeming lack of parameters and protocol given the broad environments in which they are conducted. The interviews serve little more purpose than to advance Altman's narrative rather than build a survey of information as evidenced by the lack of statistics, coding, and quotations stylized like an English argument rather than a research piece.

The third section details the fandom's use of fanfiction. The piece uses many pieces of Altman's research as well. This section uses postmodern criticisms of power structures.

The fourth section details the fandom's dominant prominence of carnal fanfiction. This section uses feminist and queer criticism.

The conclusion remarks upon Altman's perplexion with fandom culture and tries to remain neutral in its analysis.

I wonder if an article about food, especially a specific brand, is really needed in an encyclopaedia about furries. I mean, it may be possible that many furries like it, but I'm also sure many furries like Nestle ice cream, Burger King and McDonalds Hamburgers and stuff. As for the hamburgers I think there have also been some furry "flashmobs" at McDs restaurants.
So I'd like to know your opinion, is an article about a specific food, which is itself not related to furry, not having a furry mascot, slogan or whatever, really appropriate? If this discussion has ever been opened somewhere else or if too many people actually think this is important, go ahead and remove that tag again, but in my opinion this article seems "wrong" here. While it may not have great significance nowadays, prior interest has resulted in traditions that affect the furry fandom today. == Accuracy of the guide ==

It should be noted that the guide contains some factual inaccuracies and omissions. I recognize that the guide was created in 1996, but I think the article here should at least mention it, and maybe someone might be interested in creating an updated guide.
*HIV is not found in urine, but is found in breastmilk and pre-ejaculate.
*The interruption method is not very effective because HIV is found in pre-cum, and it's completely inapplicable to cunillingus.
*Using a condom or dental dam is the best way to increase the safety of oral sex.
*It should be noted that oral sores can be transmitted to the genitals and vice versa.
*Condoms can break or fall off even when used properly, though it is much less common.
*Don't flush condoms. Not a safe sex thing, but it can lead to interesting plumbing issues (I've seen them)
*nonoxynol-9 has fallen out of favor, and had little concrete evidence in support of HIV prevention
In general, the guide is very good, and it's certainly the best effort I've seen. I'm a peer educator on HIV/AIDS though, so these little things bug me.

Nonoxynol-9 is a detergent and causes inflammation in contacted tissue; as a result it actually -increases- the likelyhood of HIV infection.

About a third of the guide is devoted to proper condom use, storage, and disposal. The pamphlet includes a few paragraphs about safer alternatives to penetrative sex and ends with a paragraph about mutual consent.

The guide uses several furry specific visual aids and various terms exclusive to the furry fandom, often anthropomorphizing human interactions. Characters are depicted across a variety of sexualities and fetishes including threesomes, lesbian cunninglingus, handjobs, and macro characters. The guide also anthropomorphizes human body parts liberally, including using paws to describe ligaments, muzzles to describe jaws, and tail holes to describe the anus.

== Accuracy of the guide ==

It should be noted that the guide contains some factual inaccuracies and omissions. I recognize that the guide was created in 1996, but I think the article here should at least mention it, and maybe someone might be interested in creating an updated guide.
*HIV is not found in urine, but is found in breastmilk and pre-ejaculate.
*The interruption method is not very effective because HIV is found in pre-cum, and it's completely inapplicable to cunillingus.
*Using a condom or dental dam is the best way to increase the safety of oral sex.
*It should be noted that oral sores can be transmitted to the genitals and vice versa.
*Condoms can break or fall off even when used properly, though it is much less common.
*Don't flush condoms. Not a safe sex thing, but it can lead to interesting plumbing issues (I've seen them)
*nonoxynol-9 has fallen out of favor, and had little concrete evidence in support of HIV prevention
In general, the guide is very good, and it's certainly the best effort I've seen. I'm a peer educator on HIV/AIDS though, so these little things bug me.

Nonoxynol-9 is a detergent and causes inflammation in contacted tissue; as a result it actually -increases- the likelyhood of HIV infection.

Himitsuri no Lagoon | 秘密裏のラグーン (Lagoon's Secret), the first game in the Lagoon Lounge Series, was released in June 2012 with the English version released in May 2014. A remastered edition was released on Steam globally in July 2018 as ''Lagoon Lounge: The Poisonous Fountain''.

In the first game in the series, Himitsuri no Lagoon (秘密裏のラグーン "Lagoon's Secret"), Kuugo reunites with his old friend Sousoke in Harusu village after losing his job. He takes a job at a café called the Lagoon Lounge during a recent tourist boom from a tremor known as the Giant of Harusu. The Lagoon Lounge operated by Gou, who works with his junior, Yuujirou, who hopes to ask out his childhood crush Yuuri. Kuugo is given an overview of the village by Gou but is warned not to approach the Poisonous Fountain at the center of the city.

One night, Sousoke's little brother Seiya visits the fountain and wisges not to go back to school. To Kuugo's surprise, the wish comes true when everyone in the village falls asleep except him and Seiya. Gou reveals that the fountain's poison is a myth to keep people away from the well. The wishes come true but are all with karmic retribution: a person who wishes for a good thing will also suffer a bad thing. Gou had wished for more customers by having the town have a tourist boom with the Giant of Harusu tremors, but his childhood friend Yuujirou is forced to move away with his family due to the tremors and his business is threatened by Yamato, a new resident who opens the Black Cat Cafe in competition to his. Gou undos his wish by burning his hands and closing the restaurant, and the tremors and tourist boom end.

Yuujirou’s crush Yuuri makes a wish to go out with Sousoke, only to have her wish undone after Yuujirou outs Sousoke as gay, causing all kinds of suffering. After Yuujirou, Sousoke, and Kuugo reconcile, Kuugo wishes for the well to be destroyed so no one has to suffer anymore. However, when he breaks the well, he finds Sousoke’s name on a coin. By this time, Rai has fallen in love with Kuugo for his kindness and candor. Rai comes out as gay and they share an intimate moment. However, Sousoke discovers them and kicks them out of the house, where they find refuge in Yamato's house. Kuugo eventually apologizes to Sousoke and tells the truth of the situation. Sousoke accepts the apology and the two become partners once again.

In particular, Sousoke and Rai pressure Kuugo to confess his love to one of them by Christmas, and the game follows Kuugo's daily life as he contemplates this while working in Harusu village.

The ending changes depending on how much the player interacted with a certain character. Players can unlock a special ending with Sousoke, Rai, Yamato, Gou, Yuujirou, Seiya, or an undetermined ending. The undetermined ending is unlocked by default if the player does not commit to any character or cannot decide who to spend their Christmas with, keeping things the way they are.

The protagonist, a grey and white Japanese canine man in his mid-20s. His actions are chosen by the player. He came to village with a desire to see his old friend Sousoke after burning out from his job and started working as waitstaff at the Lagoon Lounge cafe. He is openly gay. He is cheeky, playful, but respectful and has a healthy sense of adventure/curiosity.

Inami Sousuke 稲海爽輔 ♂
A grey wolf man in his mid-20s who invites Kuugo to live with him. He drives over an hour each day from the village to work in a hotel in the city. He inherited his house from his late parents and must care for his brother Seiya. Sousoke is a serious deadpan man who keeps his emotions to himself, leading to only a few people knowing that he is gay. However, Sousoke often worries about the people around him and is surprisingly possessive.

Sanriku Gou 山陸豪 ♂
A 24-year-old ripped tiger man. He is the cook and manager of the only restaurant in the village, the Lagoon Lounge, which he inherited from his parents. He is very serious and astute but also extremely thoughtful and forward thinking. Although he is straight, he has unrequited love from Sousoke and Kuugo and doesn’t mind being pleasured by men despite his sexuality.

Urushi Yuujirou 漆悠二郎♂
A brown muscular dog man with scars on his face in his early 20s. He loves baseball, and his scars are all from that sport. He stopped his studies to help out at Gou’s restaurant. He is trying to figure out his adult life as a straight man hoping to start a family. He’s an open, honest, and carefree man but is at times rude, vulgar, and thinks with his dick. He embodies many of the village’s values and traits of traditional masculinity.

Hitofumi Yamato 一步大和♂
A chubby black cat man with a few white spot. He manages the village’s new restaurant, The Black Cat Café in direct competition with Gou’s restaurant, the Lagoon Lounge. His life consists of all sorts of traveling and business ventures. He has a Kansai accent and is a fast talker but has a surprisingly soft side.

Inami Seiya 稻海晴也♂
A young grey wolf. Sousoke’s younger brother. He lives in a dorm at his school and is undergoing puberty.

Morikawa Yuuri ♀
A canid woman in her early 20s. She works at Gou’s restaurant and is about to graduate. She is the object of Yuujirou’s affection and does not appear past game 1, although she is mentioned in passing a few times.

Banjou Rai ♂
A heavily built curled haired lion man and nationally renowned baseball player. He retired from his baseball team the Liyons and moved to Harusu village in Lagoon Lounge 3 with his earnings and becomes the town’s celebrity ambassador. He is a thoughtful soft-spoken man but can be sly about his closeted gay desires.

Kuugo is given an overview of the village by Gou but is warned not to approach the Poisonous Fountain at the center of the city.

One night, Sousoke's little brother Seiya visits the fountain and wisges not to go back to school. To Kuugo's surprise, the wish comes true when everyone in the village falls asleep except him and Seiya. Gou reveals that the fountain's poison is a myth to keep people away from the well. The wishes come true but are all with karmic retribution: a person who wishes for a good thing will also suffer a bad thing. Gou had wished for more customers by having the town have a tourist boom with the Giant of Harusu tremors, but his childhood friend Yuujirou is forced to move away with his family due to the tremors and his business is threatened by Yamato, a new resident who opens the Black Cat Cafe in competition to his. Gou undos his wish by burning his hands and closing the restaurant, and the tremors and tourist boom end.

Yuujirou’s crush Yuuri makes a wish to go out with Sousoke, only to have her wish undone after Yuujirou outs Sousoke as gay, causing all kinds of suffering.
