2022-08-04T16:54:19Z

Aphinity:

'''Howloween 2021''' was the 19th iteration of [[Howloween]]. It's dates were on November 12 and 13, 2021 at [https://www.executivehotels.net/burnabyhotel/ The Executive Hotel & Conference Centre] in Burnaby, BC, with a theme of "Creature Carnival", a circus-style theme. Attendance was 291 picked up badges, which was lower than past years, but higher than expected due to lingering issues with Covid 19 in the local area. Strict Covid policies were in place that included masking and vaccination proof and included a government-mandated rule that did not allow dancing.

'''Aphinity''' is an [[anthro]] Pacific White-Sided [[dolphin]] from [[Wikipedia:North Vancouver|North Vancouver]], [[Wikipedia:British Columbia|British Columbia]], Canada. He first came to recognize himself as [[furry]] in February of 2006. He spent a few years on [[Tapestries MUCK]] as [[Chuff]], the anthro [[killer whale]], prior to his introduction to [[Vfur]], courtesy of [[Orka]] and [[Selkit]] from [[Furnation Worlds]], who in turn lead him to [[Trapa]] and [[Loial Otter]]. He is the lead organizer of [[Howloween]] since [[Howloween 2008]] and [[Howloween 2009]], is on the Board of Directors for [[Rainfurrest]], and is also on the Board of Directors for [[VancouFur]].

== Marine studies & work ==

Aphinity is passionate about dolphins and [[whale]]s. He has previously worked as a dolphin trainer at [http://www.dolphin-institute.org/ The Dolphin Institute] and has constructed a [[Wikipedia:Sonar#Passive_sonar|passive sonar]] [[Wikipedia:Hydrophone|beamforming hydrophone array]] for both [http://www.ubc.ca/ UBC] and for [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium] researcher [http://www.zoology.ubc.ca/~deecke/ Dr. Volker Deecke].

He regularly attends conferences relating to studies of wild killer whales and marine mammals in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska and was given approval to construct a passive sonar array system in the [[beluga whale]] habitat of the [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium], to which he was given staff privileges. He was previously a volunteer for the Vancouver Aquarium as a Gallery Educator and is currently employed for [[Mascot]] work as Beebop beluga, the Aquarium's official mascot.

== Interests ==
===Automotive===
Aphinity has a background in automotive racing and performance vehicles thanks to his father, who runs an [http://www.inlinesix.com inline six drag race car]. He personally drives a 2004 [[Wikipedia:Dodge SRT-4|Dodge SRT-4]] turbo sport compact car, and occasionally races radio controlled off-road and on-road cars, having placed 3rd in the Canadian Nationals in 1/10th Scale Gas Truck before previously quitting racing in 1997.

===Photography===
Aphinity is an amateur photographer with a good deal of [[Wikipedia:Nikon|Nikon]] camera equipment. He is an experienced videographer and editor with past years of experience, including construction of a multimedia grad slide show for his high school graduating class, and various other amateur productions.

===Computers===
Aphinity is an avid computer user (including being an [http://www.apple.com/ Apple] [[Wikipedia:Macintosh|Macintosh]] user) and once worked as an Apple Certified Technician at a major Apple Specialty store in Vancouver, BC. He is presently employed as a computer consultant for a North Vancouver company. He dabbles in electronics occasionally and has a diploma in [http://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/550qdiplt Computer Systems Technology] from the [http://www.bcit.ca/ BC Institute of Technology] with a specialty in embedded systems.

== Fursuits ==
[[Image:aphinity-fursuit.jpg|right|150px]]
[[Image:Aphinity_Ioco.jpg|right|150px]]

Aphinity constructed his first [[fursuit]] thanks to tips and guidance from [[Trapa]] and help from [[Loial]], and a head design thanks to Saros (Legend Gryphon). The suit is comprised of a molded plastic head construction with overlaying soft foam and plush fabric, 3D eyes, a separate tail that hooks through a belt loop, a separate dorsal fin that can be worn independently, and feet constructed over top of old shoes.

When the fursuit was still unfinished, he chose to wear it for [[Howloween 2006]], his first ever furry convention. He continued to work on it, and made substantial improvements to it for his use at [[Further Confusion 2007]], as well as [[Rainfurrest 2007]] and occasional public venues. Due to wear and damage, this fursuit is currently retired and it's final use was at [[Rainfurrest 2009]].

He expanded his performance options by acquiring a second suit, a Siberian Husky named Ioco, which was received in October of 2009 on a commission from [[One Fur All Studios]]. While Aphinity is still his main character, he has found ioco (always spelled with a lowercase "i") to be tremendously well received by others and better understood compared to Aphinity, his dolphin character.

Aphinity: Added 2010 info in post tense

{{Howloween}}
'''Howloween''' is a Halloween-themed [[furmeet]] held in [[wikipedia:Surrey, British Columbia|Surrey, British Columbia]], about 20 minutes south-east of [[wikipedia:Vancouver|Vancouver]], [[wikipedia:Canada|Canada]].

It was held annually around Halloween at the Best Western Coquitlam Inn & Convention Centre from [[Howloween 2003|2003]] to [[Howloween 2005|2005]], and began being held at the [http://www.compasspointinn.com/ Compass Point Inn] in [[Howloween 2008|2008]]. As more of a furry-themed event than a full-fledged [[convention]], Howloween does not have a specific [[dealers den]] or [[art show]], but there are many available tables and chairs in the event area which takes up two halls in the hotel. The event includes furry themed games, panels, competitions, entertainment, and dance with an all-ages target audience. An ongoing tradition of the event is an unofficial after-party involving [[fursuit]] bowling at [http://www.revs.ca/holdom/ Revs Bowling Centre] in [[wikipedia:Burnaby, British Columbia|Burnaby]], [[wikipedia:British Columbia|British Columbia]].

==History==
[[Image:Howloween06.jpg|right|150px|Howloween 2006!]]
* '''[[Howloween 2002]]''' began at the home of [[TJ_Wolf]] in [[wikipedia:Burnaby, British Columbia|Burnaby]]. About 10 people attended the [[house party]], which featured modest events such as pizza and videos.
* '''[[Howloween 2003]]''' was the first to be held in a formal hotel setting. It was originally planned to be held at the Burnaby Radisson Hotel, but was moved to the Best Western Coquitlam Inn & Convention Centre, where it has remained until Howloween 2006. The event was featured in the [[wikipedia:CBC|CBC]] television program ''Culture Shock''.<ref>[http://fursuit.timduru.org/view/FursuitVideo/FurriesInTheNews/200401_CultureShock ''Culture Shock'' on CBC] (from [[Timduru]]'s [[The Fursuit Archive]])</ref>
* '''[[Howloween 2004]]''' was extended to two days and moved to the upstairs event area of the Best Western Coquitlam Inn & Convention Centre. A [[fursuit]] of the new mascot - a pink [[bunny]] with a hockey mask and chainsaw - was introduced, and the [[Wikipedia:pumpkin carving|pumpkin carving]] contest was also held for the first time.
* '''[[Howloween 2005]]''' introduced the candy table, where furries pooled their money to buy a whole bunch of candy. Attendees who pre-registered this year began receiving a Howloween T-shirt with their membership.
* '''[[Howloween 2006]]''' was once again held at the Best Western Coquitlam Inn & Convention Centre. The room block was increased and the convention space was expanded to two halls. Total paid attendence surpassed the record of the previous year with 119 registered [[fur]]s. This increase is believed to be a result of the cancellation of [[Conifur Northwest 2006]].
* '''[[Howloween 2007]]''' was officially cancelled, but a party in lieu was held at [[Aphinity]]'s house with over 60 people in attendance.
* '''[[Howloween 2008]]''' was organized by [[Aphinity]], and held at the [http://www.compasspointinn.com/ Compass Point Inn] in [[wikipedia:Surrey, British Columbia|Surrey]] with 160 registered [[fur]]s.
* '''[[Howloween 2009]]''' was organized by [[Aphinity]], and held at the Compass Point Inn in [[wikipedia:Surrey, British Columbia|Surrey]] on Saturday, November 7th.
* '''[[Howloween 2010]]''' is being organized by [[Aphinity]], and will be held at the Compass Point Inn in [[wikipedia:Surrey, British Columbia|Surrey]] on Saturday, November 6th. Official announcement pending.

Aphinity: Edits to job function and aquarium related activities

[[Image:aphinity-marci.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Commission by [[Marci_McAdam]]. Used with permission.]]
'''Aphinity''' is an [[anthro]] bottlenose [[dolphin]] from [[Wikipedia:North Vancouver|North Vancouver]], [[Wikipedia:British Columbia|British Columbia]], Canada. He first came to recognize himself as [[furry]] in February of 2006. He spent a few years on [[Tapestries MUCK]] as [[Chuff]], the anthro [[killer whale]], prior to his introduction to [[Vfur]], courtesy of [[Orka]] and [[Selkit]] from [[Furnation Worlds]], who in turn lead him to [[Trapa]] and [[Loial]]. He was the lead organizer of [[Howloween 2008]] and [[Howloween 2009]].

== Marine studies & work ==

Aphinity is passionate about dolphins and [[whale]]s. He has previously worked as a dolphin trainer at [http://www.dolphin-institute.org/ The Dolphin Institute] and has constructed a [[Wikipedia:Sonar|passive sonar]] [[Wikipedia:Hydrophone|beamforming hydrophone array]] for both [http://www.ubc.ca/ UBC] and for [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium] researcher [http://www.zoology.ubc.ca/~deecke/ Dr. Volker Deecke].

He continues to actively assist in studies of wild killer whales in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska and was given approval to construct a passive sonar array system in the [[beluga whale]] habitat of the [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium], to which he was given staff privileges. He continues to volunteer actively for the [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium] as a Gallery Educator and is employed for Mascot work as Beebop beluga, the Aquarium's official mascot.

== Interests ==
====Automotive====
Aphinity has a background in automotive racing and performance vehicles thanks to his father, who runs an [http://www.inlinesix.com inline six drag race car]. He personally drives a [http://www.bluesrt4.com 2004 Dodge SRT-4] turbo sport compact car, and occasionally races radio controlled off-road and on-road cars, having placed 3rd in the Canadian Nationals in 1/10th Scale Gas Truck before previously quitting racing in 1997.

====Photography====
Aphinity is an amateur photographer with a good deal of [[Wikipedia:Nikon|Nikon]] camera equipment. He is an experienced videographer and editor with past years of experience, including construction of a multimedia grad slide show for his high school graduating class, and various other amateur productions.

====Computers====
Aphinity is an avid computer user (including being an [http://www.apple.com/ Apple] [[Wikipedia:Macintosh|Macintosh]] user) and works as an Apple Certified Technician at a major Apple Specialty store in Vancouver, BC. He dabbles in electronics occasionally and has a diploma in [http://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/550qdiplt Computer Systems Technology] from the [http://www.bcit.ca/ BC Institute of Technology] with a specialty in embedded systems.

== Fursuits ==
[[Image:aphinity-fursuit.jpg|right|150px]]

Aphinity constructed his first [[fursuit]] thanks to tips and guidance from [[Trapa]] and help from [[Loial]], and a head design thanks to Saros (Legend Gryphon). The suit is comprised of a molded plastic head construction with overlaying soft foam and plush fabric, 3D eyes, a separate tail that hooks through a belt loop, a separate dorsal fin that can be worn independently, and feet constructed over top of old shoes.

When the fursuit was still unfinished, he chose to wear it for [[Howloween 2006]], his first ever furry convention. He continued to work on it, and made substantial improvements to it for his use at [[Further Confusion 2007]], as well as [[Rainfurrest]] 2007 and occasional public venues.

* '''[[Howloween 2007]]''' was cancelled. <ref>[http://www.furry.ca/cgi-bin/furryca/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=20;t=15 Howloween 2007 Cancelled]</ref>
* '''[[Howloween 2008]]''' was organized by [[Aphinity]], and held at the Compass Point Inn in [[wikipedia:Surrey, British Columbia|Surrey]].
* '''[[Howloween 2009]]''' is being organized by [[Aphinity]], and will be held at the [http://www.compasspointinn.com/ Compass Point Inn] in [[wikipedia:Surrey, British Columbia|Surrey]] on Saturday, June 7th.

Aphinity: Additional reasoning for removing the page

Is the whitewashing of references to Helping Pawz from various articles ([http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=Thumper&curid=19649&diff=256240&oldid=241374&rcid=266128 1] [http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=P-Dawg&curid=19691&diff=256244&oldid=243616&rcid=266132 2] [http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=Lace_Aurora&curid=16381&diff=256251&oldid=256247&rcid=266139 3]) really appropriate? It seems to me that replacing the link to [[Helping Pawz]] with a vague and unspecific phrase like "a not-for-profit character performance association" is a step backwards in the articles' quality. --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 15:15, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
:I do not feel it is appropriate, no, especially when this is public information. In particular, I have reverted the edits by [[User:174.1.37.70]] and restored information removed by [[User:70.68.14.93]] on this topic.
:I have been contacted by this person asserting that they are a director of the group, stating the following:
:*Their Board of Directors did not approve the page and would like it taken down.
:*It was not put up by a member of Helping Pawz.
:*Some of Helping Pawz' members belong to the fandom, but Helping Pawz is not a furry organization.
:*Helping Pawz has not been associated with Howloween for three years, and gets no support from that event.
:My personal feeling is that while corrections are appreciated, it is really none of their business whether or not we have an article about them. It is unfortunate that they see the presence of this article as a negative, but their approval is not required. [[WikiFur:Personal exclusion]] does not apply as they are a public registered charity, not an individual. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 18:14, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
<br>
GreenReaper, since Helping Pawz is not a furry organization, and wikifur is a furry-themed site, may I suggest that there is no reason to have the page here in the first place? The directors of Helping Pawz do not see the page as negative, but rather are concerned of event organizers getting conflicting information about the group due to media hype and propaganda. Despite all of our best efforts, Furry is still not widely accepted socially, and it would be unfortunate if a widely used search engine such as wikifur pointed a biased organizer to a theory, that then led to a biased stream of slander towards the Helping Pawz organization. It doesn't help that the popular media has published stories about two furries charged with criminal offenses in the last week alone. Trying to keep a clean image despite public perception is not an easy task. All the group is trying to do is help out people and make them smile, and it's incredible how many people want to find something wrong with doing that. [[User:Aphinity|-Aphinity]]

Aphinity: New images, and new revisions to RC racing history & fursuit section

== Animal research ==

Aphinity is passionate about dolphins and [[whale]]s. He has previously worked as a [http://www.tailslap.com/rob-hiapo.jpg dolphin trainer] at [http://www.dolphin-institute.org/ The Dolphin Institute] and has constructed a [[Wikipedia:Sonar|passive sonar]] [[Wikipedia:Hydrophone|beamforming hydrophone array]] for both [http://www.ubc.ca/ UBC] and for [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium] researcher [http://www.zoology.ubc.ca/~deecke/ Dr. Volker Deecke].

He continues to actively assist in studies of wild killer whales in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska and was given approval to construct a passive sonar array system in the [[beluga whale]] habitat of the [http://www.vanaqua.org/ Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre], to which he was given staff privileges.

====Automotive====
Aphinity has a background in automotive racing and performance vehicles thanks to his father, who runs an [http://www.inlinesix.com inline six drag race car]. He personally drives a [http://www.bluesrt4.com 2004 Dodge SRT-4] turbo sport compact car.

He occasionally races radio controlled off-road and on-road cars, having placed 3rd in the Canadian Nationals in 1/10th Scale Gas Truck before previously quitting racing in 1997.

====Photography====
Aphinity is an amateur photographer with a good deal of [[Wikipedia:Nikon|Nikon]] camera equipment. He is an experienced videographer and editor with past years of experience, including construction of a multimedia grad slide show for his high school graduating class, and various other amateur productions.

====Computers====
He is an avid computer user (including being an [http://www.apple.com/ Apple] [[Wikipedia:Macintosh|Macintosh]] user) and works as Fulfillment Manager of [[http://www.alphatrade.com/ AlphaTrade]], a publicly traded company dealing in stock market trading software as well as promotions. He dabbles in electronics occasionally and has a diploma in [http://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/550qdiplt Computer Systems Technology] from the [http://www.bcit.ca/ BC Institute of Technology] with a specialty in embedded systems.

== Fursuits ==

[[Image:Businessphin-006.jpg|right|150px]]

Aphinity constructed his first [[fursuit]] thanks to tips and guidance from [[Trapa]] and help from [[Loial]]. The suit is comprised of a molded plastic head construction of [[Trapa]]'s design with overlaying soft foam and plush fabric, 3D eyes, a separate tail that hooks through a belt loop, a separate dorsal fin that can be worn independently, and feet constructed of old shoes.

When the fursuit was still unfinished, he chose to wear it for [[Howloween 2006]], his first ever furry convention. He continued to work on it, and made substantial improvements to it for his use at [[Further Confusion 2007]].

Chuff

2007-01-31T19:45:12Z

Aphinity:

A '''chuff''' (to '''chuff''', '''chuffing''') is the sound made by large [[cat]] [[species]] such as [[tiger]]s, or from [[whale|whales]] and [[dolphin|dolphins]]. For feline species, it used as a greeting to family members or companions, and denotes [[wikipedia:Happiness|happiness]], similar to a house cat's ''[[purr]]''. The sound can be described as a stuttering cough.

For dolphins and whales, a chuff is usually a fast exhale done for equivalent reasons to a human sneeze or cough, but can also be done as a sign of exasperation, aggression, or frustration.

I don't see how this is particularly relevant to furry. Perhaps the information here can be merged into the [[Balloonie]] article. --- [[User:Sine|Sine]] 18:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

== Relevance ==

I feel it is, as I am a looner myself, and am often confused with a balloonie. I am not. Balloonie pertains to desires to be inflated and be made of an inflatable substance. Looner pertains exclusively to balloons, and activities with them. I was hoping to prevent confusion between the two very distinct kinks. -Aphinity

Aphinity:

How do I, [[Aphinity]], get added to this list?

Hi, welcome(yes, this is the Rat you meet at Trapa's). Your User page, [[User:Aphinity]] is where you can write your own message to other WikiFur users. The article page [[Aphinity]], which hasn't been written yet, is an objectively-written article. Your User page is already written in an objective tone, so I would suggest copying it to [[Aphinity]]. Then you can add <nowiki>[[Category:Dolphin characters]]</nowiki> to the [[Aphinity]] article. --[[User:Rat|Rat]] 22:34, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

:Just create an article about yourself, and at the bottom include <nowiki>[[Category:Dolphin characters]]</nowiki> (the same goes for any other categories that would be appropriate to add yourself to).
:Also, it appears you've create a user page - [[User:Aphinity]] - which might be adequate to be the article. The difference between them is that the article should be neutrual and objective, written in third person, and may be edited and improved by anyone, whereas the user page is where you can talk about yourself in the first person, is much more relaxed on style guidelines, and for the most part is edited and maintained by you. Does this help? --[[User:Mwalimu|mwalimu]] 22:39, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help! I'll do that right away.

Dolphin

2007-01-11T23:15:58Z

Aphinity:

'''Dolphins''' are certain aquatic [[mammal]]s related to whales and porpoises. They are social animals, living in pods or "schools" of up to a dozen animals, where the animals can establish strong bonds between each other. Dolphins are widely believed to be amongst the most intelligent of all animals. A typical statement is that dolphins are roughly as intelligent as a two-year-old human. The military has employed dolphins for various purposes; from finding mines, to rescuing lost or trapped persons.

The most commonly known species of dolphin is the '''Atlantic [[wikipedia:bottlenose dolphin|bottlenose dolphin]]''', made poplular in part from the TV series "Flipper" and marine parks around the world that display the animals. There are almost 40 different species of dolphin in total, ranging in size from the 4 foot long tucuxi dolphin, to the [[killer whale]], which is actually the largest member of the dolphin family [[Wikipedia:delphinadae|Delphinadae]]. [[Wikipedia:porpoise|Porpoises]], while closely related, are in a different [[Wikipedia:genus|genus]] than dolphins.

==Dolphins in Furry==

Dolphins are one of the more uncommon species chosen for [[character]]s in the furry community. They are one of the species without fur that many argue do not fit into the '''[[furry]]''' description when the term is taken too literally.

Some will opt to play a dolphin character as a standard [[non-anthro]] dolphin, often with the premise of being isolated to water environments, or possibly able to float through the air by means of magic or science fiction. [[Jaidara]] constructed a bio-mechanical dolphin [[fursuit]] for his character [[Wishy]], showing a non-anthro dolphin contained within a mechanical body with legs and arms, able to walk on land.

Others will play their characters as [[anthro]] dolphins with legs and arms. Style of the characters tends to be a humanoid form with dolphin-like head, a dorsal fin extending from the middle of the back, and a tail with dolphin tail-flukes on the end. Notable anthro dolphin fursuits include [[Calafin]] and [[Aphinity]].

==Sensory Abilities and Adaptations==

Dolphins have excellent awareness of their surroundings thanks to keen sensory abilities.

Dolphin eyesight is considered very good, with an ability to change the focal length of their eyes on demand to suit both in water and above water environments. Their [[wikipedia:pupil|pupil]] is not round and is rather horseshoe shaped when closed, leaving two openings along the eye that would be emiting two images onto the [[wikipedia:retina|retina]]. It is thought that this unique construction may allow them to perceive [[wikipedia:depth perception|depth perception]] with one eye. Dolphins are unable to see shades of red, but have very accute vision in shades of green and blue.

[[wikipedia:Hearing|Hearing]] ability is one of the dolphins greatest assets. Dolphins do have ears, but they are sealed by wax from the outside at a point called the auditory meatus and are non-functional in the traditional sense. Dolphin bones, due partially to boyancy reasons, are filled with a thick oil that conducts sound very well. Sounds propogate through the water or air to their jaw, which then vibrates their inner ear and allows them to hear sound. Dolphins can be observed orienting their jaw towards objects or pressing their body towards the source when listening closely to something.

Dolphins have an advanced sonar sense called [[wikipedia:Animal_echolocation|echo location]] that they use to find objects in cloudy or dark conditions, as well as in loose sand. By producing a series of rapid clicks, the dolphin listens to the reflected echos and gains a mental image of the surroundings. They can tell the shape and material an object is made of, even complex abstract objects. They have also been reported discerning whether a predator has eaten recently and whether a potential mate is pregnant or not. Dolphins have been proven to be capable of interpreting another dolphins sonar without being present in the same environment, as well as being able to interpret an environment through sonar without generating any sounds themselves.

Sound generation is accomplished through a pair of air sacks just below their [[wikipedia:blowhole|blowhole]]. These sacks can be squeezed and manipulated independently to create whistle and click type sounds, similar to a stretched neck of a balloon. Sound travelling from air to water has nearly 90% reflection, so dolphins have an organ at the front of their head called their melon which is filled with thick oils and fats of different densities that allow them to direct sounds from air to water with much greater efficiency. Dolphins can focus sounds with their melon on a widespread or small area, which is particularly useful when used with [[wikipedia:Animal_echolocation|echo location]].

==Sexuality Truths and Rumors==

Dolphins are notoriously sexual and it has been argued that dolphins are the only species other than humans known to have sex for fun, rather than exclusively for reproduction. To this end, speculation and folklore has spread about their abilities in this area through the internet and other media, particularly through the [[zoophile]] community. Furries in particular are guilty of using these rumors during sexual roleplay.

Dolphin males maintain their sleek body style by containing their penis within a slit along their ventral peduncle. Dolphins have been observed with the ability to extend and retract at will, often doing so while orienting with a potential mate. This observation has led many to state that a dolphin penis is prehensile, much like a monkey tail or elephant trunk, when this is actually untrue. Most mammals have a [[wikipedia:vascular|vascular]] penis, where bloodflow causes the organ to swell and extend to erection. Dolphins, much like those of the [[equine]] species (to which they are [http://www.gma.org/marinemammals/natural_history_facts.html distantly related]), have a muscular organ which can be flexed or relaxed at will, but has no ability to move beyond what the muscles in the base of the genital region can orient it with.

Dolphin males have been described as having an extremely high intensity [[wikipedia:ejaculation|ejaculation]] cycle, and some have described [[wikipedia:oral sex|oral sex]] as potentially lethal. It is confirmed that a dolphin male will ejaculate a substantial quantity of semen in a short time with some reports from 50ml to over 100ml in quantity, perceivably required due to the salt water environment that acts as a natural [[wikipedia:spermacide|spermacide]]. However, the pressure of delivery is not enough to cause bodily harm.

Dolphin females have been rumored to have an ability to clamp down on their partners and provide a milking action. Since they live in a salt water environment, females have certain internal adaptations to ensure salt water does not get into the internal reproductive organs. A male must push past multiple folds within the females vagina and the female must control certain muscles in order to relax the folds and make herself able to be fertilized. It is perceivable that the muscles to do this could be used in a way to create a rippling effect, although it is unknown if this is commonly done. Trainers and swimmers have confirmed that certain dolphins have the ability to suck on objects with their genital regions, as has been experienced when a lusty animal uses a human's knee or fingers in such a way (an extremely uncommon occurance).

Furries often seem divided on whether to use dolphin-like male genital structure, including a slit and internal testicals, or whether to be more humanoid with external testicals and penis. Dolphin females normally have their nipples oriented on either side of their vaginal slit, but in [[anthro]] [[furry|furries]], those nipples are almost always positioned in the chest to resemble humanoid breasts.

==Dolphin lore==
*The popular television show ''Flipper'', created by Ivan Tors, portrayed a dolphin in a friendly relationship with two boys, Sandy and Bud; a kind of seagoing Lassie, Flipper understood English unusually well and was a marked hero: "Go tell Dad we're in trouble, Flipper! Hurry!" The show's theme song contains the lyric ''no one you see / is smarter than he''.

*In ''The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'', dolphins are very intelligent creatures who tried in vain to warn humans of the impending destruction of Earth. However, their behavior was misinterpreted as playful acrobatics. Their story is told in ''So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish''.

*After study at the Dolphins Plus research center in Key Largo, Florida, fantasy author Ken Grimwood wrote dolphins into his 1995 novel ''Into the Deep'', including entire chapters written from the viewpoint of his dolphin characters.

*''[[Ecco The Dolphin]]'' stars in a series of games for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and Dreamcast.

*A book called ''The Music of Dolphins'' was written by Karen Hesse, about a girl who had lived with dolphins since the age of four.
