Mr. Applebaum's books contain subject matter that leaves a reader wondering what is real and what is made up in context of the fiction. One major question is after Book 1's 8th chapter is anything for real or is it all an expression of insanity within the only confirmed real character's head.

When asked why the characters seemed unusually knowledgeable yet not about how certain things worked and where one could have got it wrong he told us,

"Hints are sprinkled through the books to suggest an unreliable narrator trope is in play and hints of fountains of youth and the fact a character can only copy existing inventions having the ability to wipe memories and learn their techniques when anthro characters have never demonstrated to have such leaves one wondering if maybe he worked for them at one time and to ensure secrecy of their existence they had to be mind wiped before coming to earth. Unfortunately not everyone saw this and assumed the worst. Moreover the Human Adam ends his book with is said to have similar powers to him and yet by design if it were not obvious enough that she is too smart to be human if we do believe the narrative, when released her spirit does not take her human form contrast to Adams who looks like a clone of him. This was no accident. I wanted people to eventually see nothing was as it seemed."

What this could possibly mean is up to interpretation. Nevertheless it raises more questions as to how age and time even works in a series like that. Perhaps some things are best left unknown.

Adam has also been known to self promote on Amazon reviews of his books, and in a Google review of The Prancing Skiltaire
--Where is He Now?--

As of the latest interview at Pawcon 2021 by us where we asked him about his fandom reception, he seems to have disappeared from the larger fandom. Anonymous reports suggest he has been at meets, but that he has retired or refocused to other pursuits. Will he ever come back? Time will tell. His site however remains active...

Biography:
The Forsaken Scribe was an Independent Writing Business Started by Adam Thomas Applebaum at Califur 2016 to fit with their Renaissance and High Fantasy theme. During that time he offered Calligraphy for $5, Poetry for $10 and books for $20. He has since kept the business name and while tweaking the offerings ever so slightly to the theme of the convention he is at or holiday, swears by the quill pen and ink when he isn't typing up his next breakthrough novella.
Mission Statement and Quotes: "As an Independent Writer, I wish to revive old art forms and recreate them for a whole new generation." "You do not get people interested in reading by writing the same tired old premises sanitized for their reading age." "It isn't the size of the book, but the content within that matters." "If people wanted to read (name of your favorite author) they would read (name of your favorite author) write it your way." "Censorship only protects people from the truth that they will discover once they leave home." "I really didn't like reading books for kids my age because the terms they used were utter garbage that no self-respecting adult would dare read of their own volition." "If I ever write for kids, my books will use higher vocabulary words because there are plenty of books that assume they are ignorant."
Notable Works: Adam The Forsaken: Tales Of Extraordinary Beings Book 1, Neko The Inventive Wanderer: Tales Of Extraordinary Beings Book 2, Kit Kit & Kit Kat: Tales Of Extraordinary Beings Book 3, Into The Mind Out To Nature: Musings of an Interesting Man.

Fandom Involvement: Besides his appearances at Conventions, The Forsaken Scribe's Owner has historically felt misunderstood by a lot of people which lead to him joining the fandom in the first place. Upon visiting the Prancing Skiltaire House in February of 2015, He showed up in his first costume which consisted of a necromancer's robes, a scythe a pair of cat ears and tails which were spray painted. Initial responses ranged from awe to fear as he'd never been there before and it was probably an awkward first impression.

Nevertheless, he settled in rather quickly and loved an atmosphere where he could be as unusual as he wanted and as best he could tell no one cared. He has since gone to other furmeets like Rose Bowl Furmeet, Mountain Fur Meet, Abandoned Zoo Furmeet and even hosted a few meets in Covina, Little Tokyo L.A. and Fairfax L.A. He made history for the Prancing Skiltaire when he brought New Israeli Shekel shaped Gelt to a Holiday Party and a Hanukkah Gift in 2015. Some social media posts that followed had people asking who put the medallions in the Fursuit bag or the dragon who kept hoarding it all at the Snack table. There were according to some members people who normally visit Denny's after the event tipping waiters in Gelt coins which delighted them apparently. His latest such achievement of the same in 2016 was a bit underwhelming. You can only make a splash once I guess. Rumor has it he has hired a Karaoke DJ for July 08, 2017th's Prancing Skiltaire and will be bringing cake. It remains to be seen how well that will go over.

Recent Controversy:
After some accusations of violating Dealer's Den rules at Califur 2017 came to light and he was subsequently banned from selling at Dealer's Den, The Forsaken Scribe's Owner announced throughout Furry Amino, Facebook, and a plethora of other social media outlets that due to being barred from the Dealer's Den and the other drama that unfolded while there he will not go back. It is still unknown what ultimately was the nail in the Coffin for his vending there, was it the meltdown over not being accepted in Cabaret, the incident where he was in a state of panic trying to navigate his friends safely to the convention, or did someone just happen to go behind his stand and find his hidden wares while he was paneling?

He may never know and he has since vowed to lock up all merchandise that may be of questionable content and only display the squeaky-clean stuff. He is quoted as saying "You have adult pictures with taped up private parts and other obvious visual adult stuff within plain view of anyone who'd dare unveil them and you are worried about my text-based novellas? Has the world gone mad?!" Despite this he still has plans to branch out to other conventions and as both a satire on the situation and to maintain compliance with their rules, decided only to display a picture of the cover photos which have absolutely nothing adult about them and put a content warning sticker on the images with the words "Show Adult Badge to Browse those titles." "It is my hope that with these new measures in place and 'evidence' that I am in compliance with convention rules as they are outlined via photographs of the stand setup, I can continue to sell my poetry commissions and novella content unfettered," Adam said.

Overall: The Forsaken Scribe is no stranger to controversy, and he can at times come off mean spirited or vindictive. One can conclude that with lack of hate articles he either isn't infamous enough, or he isn't as bad as he thinks he is relative some other members of the fandom. He can at times come off as whiny on social media, but given he considers himself Jewish that may just be stereotypical cultural tendencies to Kvetch in even the best of circumstances.
