Precocious is a webcomic drawn by Christopher J. Paulsen. It focuses on a group of children as they deal with the hazards of life and school. Paulsen himself states Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County and especially Ozy and Millie to be his primary influences and inspiration. Originally, it was a daily comic, but since Paulsen attended college, it has now changed to Mondays, Wednesday, and Friday. As of April 2011, Chris has since reverted back to his daily format.

Main Characters
Bud Oven
Bud is a Scottish Fold kitty with brown hair and a black vest. He is considered the de facto leader of the group and is usually the one to cause the most problems, from minor damage to arson-related explosions. He is usually thinking up new ways to have fun no matter what the consequences are. Bud, as well as his friends, always see most of their classmates as strangers and pretend that they are invisible - especially when Roddy enters the scene, to whom Bud responds, "Roddy! What are you doing here?" Bud is often rivals with Dionne Crup. His parents tend to neglect him; as a consequence, he taught himself how too cook and has become a culinary genius. Bud is related to Tiffany Et on his father's side. His supervillain persona is Dr. Oven, a mad scientist who specializes in baked goods of doom.

Autumn Pingo
Autumn is a red fox wearing a white uniform shirt and layered-green skirt. She and her parents had recently moved to Sapphire Lake at the start of the comic, but she has quickly fit in. She loves causing mischief with her friends. She is very competitive in everything, such as when she and Bud argued who would make a better supervillain. Autumn is the oldest than her classmates, which Bud makes fun of calling her an old lady in two strips. Her constant rivalry is with Max Zeit, which started when Autumn's and Max's birthday parties were on the same day. Her supervillain persona is The Scarlet A.

Jacob Linkletter
Jacob is a dog with a red and white striped shirt. Jacob is the happy-go-lucky kid of the gang but is often a recurring target of their pranks and schemes. He is highly devoted to whatever he does. He enjoys playing sports but is very clumsy. He is often being pushed around by his others peers, especially Suzette Grady. His hero persona is Some Guy/Target Man.

Tiffany Et
Tiffany is a calico cat, with an orange spot around her eye and one orange ear, wearing a green dress with a smiley face button on the bottom. Tiffany has a short attention span and is constantly wandering her thoughts into space or falling asleep at unexpected times. In some cases, Tiffany can lose control and start causing trouble. Like Bud, Tiffany is very creative, though her fun is artistic rather than culinary. She often can be spotted saying something off-kilter in the background. At home, she often causes trouble to her siblings and using them as pat of her "experiments". Her supervillain persona is Chaotic Butterfly, a red butterfly who causes random mischief and grief.

Supporting Characters
Dionne Crup
Dionne is a spotted cheetah, sporting a pink shirt with a heart in the middle. Hailing from the luxurious neighborhood of Diamond Bluffs, Dionne is the most sadistic and selfish character in the entire cast; she takes pleasure in causing humiliation, defeat, and overall grief. For example, Dionne's main purpose in competing in beauty pageants is to humiliate her competitors, rather than winning them. She has very little regards to loyalty and honesty as she often betray her allies. Also, her ability to manipulate other is so great that she was able to cause a coup at Poppingstock Academy; this ability also gave her a landslide victory of class president. Her villain persona is Di-Va, a silhouette character; her powers are the same as her real identity.

Ballerina Mafia is a furry webcomic by Immelmann. It is as gag-a-day comic with no stories or drama, in contrast to the author's first webcomic, Concession. It shares similarities to At the Heart of it All, as some strips feature Immelmann himself and deals with events of his real life (though purely humorously this time). It's initial premise was to avoid recurring characters, but the comic eventually evolved to have a main cast.

This comic re-introduces Shugwar, Immelmann's real-life friend and now room mate who first appeared as a Protoss Warrior in At the Heart of it All. Various other real-life friends of Immelmann have since appeared in the comic.

Cast
*Immelmann - Male Wolfrabbit. The main character and artist.
*Shugwar - Male Panther. Immel's straight, sarcastic roommate.
*Epam - Male Cat. Old friend of Immel and Shugwar. Creator of Mr. Dude, filler art for Concession.
*Malik - Male Goat-badger. Musician, Shugwar's friend from high school.
*Sphix - Male Lion. Immel's long-distance boyfriend who spent visited and spent a week in the comic.
*Nicole - Male Skunk. Waitor at local restaurant. Returning character from Concession.
*Ossia - Female human. A new employee at the Concession stand with Zoe and Clive. She is of Scottish descent. Ossia started as "Ossian", as a male, but an April Fool's Day joke turned him into a girl.
*Corpsie - Dead male human. A decayed, inanimate corpse that somehow has an extensive career as a television actor. A fan favorite, possibly out of irony.

"Dandy & Company," is a webcomic created and produced by cartoonist Derrick Fish, who has also produced the comic book "Scarred World: The Chronicles of Aegis" and currently co-produces the Half Moose Media title "Tails to Amaze" alongside writer Marc Hammond.

The webcomic has been updated on its own site consistently since October 11, 2001. It chronicles the lives and adventures of a cairn terrier named Dandy, his owner Bernard, and their family and friends in the suburban neighborhood of Loudonville, Ohio. Dandy usually spends most of his time with Bernard by pulling pranks on him, having watergun fights, and in the more fantastical storylines, dealing with extraterrestrials or evil dopplegangers. The humor is a mixture from the likes of Calvin and Hobbes, Looney Tunes, and general science-fiction and geek culture, all presented within the context of the irreverent stories and with a sarcastic tone. Readers of the strip often remark on its vibrant, high-energy artistic style which would lend itself well to becoming an animated feature, much like PVP: The Series.

Aside from the webcomic itself, Derrick has made an assortment of bonus material, including side stories, guest comics, web accessories, printed collections, and even some short animations featuring the characters.

Characters
Danforth Quentin Dog VI (Dandy) - a Cairn Terrier dog. The eponymous costar of the comic is somewhat of a foil to his human boy Bernard, with whom he shares a more or less "love-hate" relationship. Dandy spends most of his time plotting pranks against Bernard, but he also has an occasional romantic interest in a female dog named Maryweather.

Bernard - a human boy. He is a somewhat naive and cheerful soul simply trying to make his way through life in a normal manner, but his dog is constantly getting in his way...not to mention a lot of other strange things like an alien abduction or a hungry alligator. Nevertheless, Bernard often finds ways to get back at Dandy--an art which he seems to be learning from his dog. Bernard also possesses a "beanie hat" which may or may not be a mysterious magical item.

History
The strip and its core characters (Dandy, his younger brother Mistake, Dandy's human owner Bernard and his father George) were originally created by Derrick in 1982 at the age of 8 as part of a grade school art project. He continued drawing new strips and growing the cast and universe on and off for years before starting the current web comic. The official continuity of the current strip began with strips Derrick created while attending the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in 1994. These short stories and strips were collected in a series of 6 self-published "fanzine-style" comics under an earlier title of "Dandy and Friends".

In March 2005, Derrick was approached by a fan of the comic interested in helping to bring it into the 21st century with a brand-new website powered by the Wordpress content management system which would heavily automate the comic posting process. Until then, Derrick, together with his wife Melissa, had been manually editing and updating the website for each new comic every day. The new website went live on May 2, 2005 and was one of the first webcomics to use Wordpress as a comic publishing platform.

Dandy & Company experienced a moderate hiatus between December 5, 2005 and July 3, 2006 due to personal reasons, during which time Derrick re-ran strips from the beginning. On March 19, 2007, Derrick announced another hiatus , although this time much shorter than previously. Four months later, strips began reappearing on the site and Derrick made a statement that he would finish the current storyline beginning August 24th after which the webcomic, and the site, would undergo a "rebranding" to bring all of his projects together under one roof.

On May 1st, nearly three years after first approaching Derrick, Dandy & Company's webmaster revealed a new version of the website with a more mature, colorful theme and new logo. The new design also featured a re-envisioned archives, AJAX-driven in-page strip navigation, and additional opportunity for advertising.

In 2010, Derrick announced that he would be ending the strip by the summer. As of now, the website is inaccessible and the comic has not yet ended.

Print versions
There are currently five, 128-page paperback print collections of the Dandy & Company strips being sold through Lulu:

Hailing from the luxurious neighborhood of Sapphire Lake, Dionne is the most sadistic and selfish character in the entire cast; she takes pleasure in causing humiliation, defeat, and overall grief.

Furry

2011-06-19T03:52:58Z

ASR1572: linked text

The word furry has several meanings, dependent on the context in which it is used. Predominantly, it means "consisting of or resembling fur". It also pertains to an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or mythological or imaginary creatures which possess human or superhuman capabilities.

The plural form of furry in all its contexts is furs or furries; the subjects of furry interest are also known as furries. Because people in the fandom tend to identify closely with their avatars (or fursonas), the word is often used to mean a group of furry characters in art or roleplay.

What it means to be furry
Someone who says they are furry is generally expressing an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or creatures (and perhaps some affiliation to furry fandom). They may express that that interest in a variety of ways - through art and stories through to roleplay and performance. How deep or meaningful an interest in Furry is varies greatly from person to person.

Furry's gamut of interests
Below is a list of common interests with which a fur is likely to identify. A furry may be interested in any or all of them, to any degree.

Cartoons and games
Interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or creatures can be as simple as the many popular furry cartoon characters, known as funny animals. These may include Bugs Bunny, Tony the Tiger, Sly Cooper, Star Fox, etc. However, someone who merely happens to like these characters is not necessarily a furry; the degree and nature of one's interest is relevant here.

Spirituality
[[Image:Postsecret.jpg|thumb|175px|A postcard sent into PostSecret depicting a fur's interest in becoming her fursona.]]
Some furs believe they have a spiritual connection to a particular animal which is typically their fursona, but also may be a totem. Strong spiritual believers may often say that they are "an animal in a human body" (and in fact may identify themselves as otherkin, weres and/or therians which are their own categories and not linked to the furry fandom just by interest). Some join and find the furry fandom to be a place to be themselves, as most of these groups are underground and the furry fandom is more open to the world. However, not all therians have their theriotype as their fursona.

Art and creativity
Some furs may be interested only in the creative aspects of the furry fandom. Furry content, both online and off, is easy to obtain, and available in vast amounts, and furs produce new works regularly. Furry artwork is also done by many nonfurries as well in targeting the fandom. Others may disassociate themselves from the fandom and refer to themselves as funny animal artists. Furries may also enjoy role-playing a particular furry character or fursona, sometimes writing about this character or recording their online interactions for posterity.

Fursuiting
Some furries enjoy the practice of dressing up in a costume that is typically designed after a fursona. These "fursuits" are usually worn at conventions, and a few are even designed to accommodate sexual situations. Some furries opt to wear a "partial" suit, consisting of a head, tail, and paws, instead of a full fursuit; others may just wear a tail or various other pieces. While only a minority (about 15-20%) consider themselves fursuiters, they tend to be highly visible at events where many furries are present.

Sexuality
To some furs, the sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals is a part of what makes them furry. This is a topic of much controversy, as it has been the subject of early media attention (such as that from Wired Magazine and Vanity Fair), leading to its becoming a common stereotype of the furry community at large. This has spawned a few groups in response (such as the Burned Furs) with a desire to discourage this angle, or create a clear distinction between these furries and the rest of the community.

Other contexts of Furry
From within the fandom, anything classified as an anthropomorphic animal and/or creature could be called a furry. That could be anything from Scooby Doo to various sports mascots to Omaha the Cat Dancer. Since mainstream characters are generally not created with furries in mind, the furry context is presumed by most outsiders to not be present despite subcultural interest.

Any art showcasing anthropomorphic animals is generally considered furry artwork. Artwork that contains furries in sexual situations may be called yiff or spooge art.

Non-furry furries
Anthropomorphic creatures that are also considered to be furry (even with the lack of pelt or fur) include (but are not limited to): dragons and lizards (also known as scalies and herps, respectively), Cetaceans (dolphins and Orcas), birds and gryphons (also known as featheries or avians), and taurs (centaurs being the prime example).
