David Ross, also known as Insane Kangaroo, is a furry fan and fursuiter who currently lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

Biography
Mr. Ross was born in California, and lived there for several years, where he enjoyed fishing for catfish and visiting ocean beaches. He moved to east Tennessee with his family around 1993. In Tennessee he enjoyed the colorful people of the Smoky Mountains, helping out with his communities, and being involved in after-school programs. In June of 2005, he moved to Alaska, where he obtained IT work in Homer.

After being laid off from the mental health center at the end of March 2010, he sought new employment. In May 2010, Ross found another long term employer in Pennsylvania. He relocated in July 2010, driving approximately 4300 miles starting from the Alaska highway and passing through Canada.

Open Carry
Mr. Ross is a practitioner of the right to open carry; exercising what proponents believe to be a constitutionally protected right to visibly bear firearms — in this case, a Springfield XD handgun.

Mr. Ross does not openly carry his weapon at conventions, but he has had two negative encounters with the police related to this practice.

Controversy
On several occasions Mr. Ross's actions have caused controversy within the fandom, and in some cases he appears to have courted this controversy.

Anthrocon 2010
On January 22, 2010, Mr. Ross' membership for the Anthrocon 2010 was revoked. In a brief letter, Anthrocon chairman and CEO Dr. Samuel Conway suggested that if the area was so dangerous as to require a firearm, it would be best not to come:

The response from Mr. Ross was as follows:

Open carry outside of convention space was not part of AC rules as of February 16, 2010. His ban was justified by allegations of public distress and police concern over his actions which reflected badly on Anthrocon, and the belief that such incidents would continue and escalate. The factual basis of these allegations is disputed.

e621
On August 30th of 2010, Mr. Ross was responsible for the temporary closure of the furry art website, e621.net. He had been in contact with the site's principle hosting facility, citing mature images on the website which he alleged to have violated US code 18 USC § 1466A (child pornography laws and copyright of artists). The owner of the site denied both of these allegations.

The site has since resumed service, having changed ownership. Mr. Ross subsequently encouraged artists to report the site for piracy, and expressed plans to contact the FBI and the UK government regarding the alleged cartoon pornography depicting minors present on the site.fact Later that year he expressed the desire to get in touch with US senators in regards to making explicit cub-related furry art illegal.

Inkbunny and SoFurry
In November 2010, Fur Affinity lost its payment processor, AlertPay, after they noted that cub pornography was not against the site's terms of service. Mr. Ross theorized that a member of SoFurry or Inkbunny might have been responsible for the change, and proceeded to report them in turn to AlertPay:

AlertPay had already informed the two sites that they were terminating their prior to FA's public announcement. Nevertheless, Mr. Ross's actions were roundly criticised, and he was subsequently banned from furrydrama_2:

DNH
On January 27th, 2011, David Ross launched the Do Not Hug (The unofficial don't hug me bro murrsuit database), a publically viewable listing of fursuiters who engage in sexual activities while in fursuit. The site states that its purpose is to inform the public of potential health and hygene issues regarding such activities. However, many are concerned that the site could be used maliciously to violate privacy and ruin reputations.

Postings to the site are done anonymously (no e-mail address or other identifying information is required of the user), and without the knowledge of the fursuiters being posted. At the time the site was launched, explicit photos of the fursuiters were included in the listing, but were removed the next day. In addition to gathering information from sites like Fur Affinity and XTube (to which links are provided), the site also solicits users to submit names, information, photos, and videos directly to the site. Any submissions must include evidence of sexual activity, in the form of photographs and/or videos, before addition.
