Fandom involvement
Adam joined the furry fandom in part because he felt misunderstood by others. He sometimes visits The Prancing Skiltaire, showing up in necromancer's robes, a sythe, and a set of cat ears and tail on his first visit.

In addition to attending various conventions, Adam attends furmeets including Mountain Fur Meet and Abandoned Zoo Furmeet.

Writing
Some of Adam's notable work includes:

* Adam the Forsaken: Tales of Extraordinary Beings Book 1
* Neko the Inventive Wanderer: Tales of Extraordinary Beings Book 2
* Kit Kit & Kit Kat: Tales of Extraordinary Beings Book 3
* Into the Mind Out to Nature: Musings of an Interesting Man

The Forsaken Scribe
At Califur 2016, Adam sold books, calligraphy, and poetry, using the name The Forsaken Scribe for the first time. The name was chosen to fit in with Califur's theme that year, which was "High Fantasy & Renaissance Faire: The Quest for the Dragon Sword". Since then he has kept the name for selling his work, tweaking the subject matter of his wares to keep with the theme of different conventions. He often uses a quill and ink.

Controversy
Adam was banned from selling at the Dealer's Den at Califur 2017, after being accused of violating its rules.clarify Afterwards, Adam vowed not to return to Califur.
Applebaum's books contain subject matter involving sex between young child characters as young as the age of 4, which has contributed to some opposition to the selling of his works at meetups.
Adam has also been known to self promote on Amazon reviews of his books, and in a Google review of The Prancing Skiltaire
