Housepets! is an anthropomorphic webcomic by RickGriffin; the first strip was posted in June 2008. According to RickGriffin, "the idea [for the comic] was conceived in 2006 and came to fruition in 2008."

Usually, the comic centers around a purple cat and a brown dog; Grape and Peanut, respectively; and their "everyday" life, though each arc has its own main characters. Housepets! tends to use language and dialogue to its benefit, occasionally sprinkling an arc with light philosophy or an encouraging word, usually from Grape.

Main characters
Peanut Butter Sandwich, usually referred to as Peanut, is the dog of the Sandwich family. He has brown fur with a tan muzzle, chest and stomach. He wears a red collar adorned with a bone. Peanut is zealous, but is easily bored, "good-natured but on occasion has a one-track mind." He admits to like certain parts of cats (like the tail), but hasn't come out and said whether or not he is a "cat-lover." It's also fairly likely that Peanut is attracted to Grape, as shown in one strip, which concluded its arc.

Grape Jelly Sandwich, usually referred to as Grape, is the cat of the Sandwich family. She has purple fur with a white muzzle, chest and stomach. She wears a periwinkle-colored collar adorned with an orange fish. Between Peanut and Grape, Grape is more level-headed and rational, and she is different from Peanut because she lacks naivety. "Grape is lazy but creative, and sometimes a little too pragmatic. Has a mean streak and knows how to defend herself. Also, she is probably the most responsible pet in the neighborhood, except when she doesn’t want to be," according to RickGriffin. Many readers assumed that Grape was male at the comic's beginning, probably much to RickGriffin's delight. However, it was revealed that Grape is indeed female. Grape seems to be pretty wise when it comes to giving advice to Peanut, though often the wisdom is lost on him. Grape is good at taking care of problems when they arise, despite her laziness.

Mr. & Mrs. Sandwich are Peanut and Grape's owners and "parents." They are conscious of Peanut and Grape's anthropomorphic qualities. Both Mr. and Mrs. Sandwich have been shown only from the nose down. All in all, "they’re nice people, but they weren’t sure they were ready for children, so they got some pets instead. Hoo boy."

<div style="float:right"></div>

Bino, The leader of the neighborhood's dog club, The Good Ol' Dogs' Club (Peanut was kicked out of this club when he showed Bino & Crew the picture he drew). Bino, in general, does not have kind tendencies... nor does he have much intelligence, but he knows when to defer to someone smarter than him. Which is usually most of the other pets.

Joey, Bino's younger brother. The runt of his litter, he is often ignored. It was revealed that Joey is a fanatical cat-lover after Peanut shows him his drawing and Joey responds, "I want to wear her skin," which Peanut takes literally. It's also known that occasionally Joey dresses like a cat and roams the neighborhood.

Fox, Between Bino, Fox, and Rex, Fox is the most intelligent of the three. Which means he’s almost as smart as a cat. He wears dogtags on his collar.

Rex, Fox's brother. The largest and strongest. What he lacks in brains, he makes up for in his uncanny ability to taste minute differences in coffee blends. And strength.

Tiger, An unfortunately-named dog that is the recipient of the Good Ol' Dogs' Club's teasing. He is mentioned by Grape is a strip previous to his actual comic debut. He had it better as a pup, but once he moved into Babylon Gardens, things turned for the worse. This is the reason why you don’t name your kid ‘Flowerblossom’.

Marvin, The cat in Tiger's household. He’s more patient and understanding with Tiger than the dogs. In fact, most of the cats are more patient and understanding with Tiger, and that doesn’t help things one bit.

Fido is Bino and Joey's older brother. Fido is the "top dog" of the neighborhood. "All the dogs want to be him. Except the lady dogs, they have 'other intentions.'" Not much is currently known about Fido, but he recently graduated from the police dog academy, and his announced upcoming arrival caused a canine stampede to welcome him back home. It is strongly hinted that he may also be "feline-inclined" after Peanut and Grape see him secretly meet up with Sabrina in his basement.

Sasha, She’s one of those ‘flavor of the week’ kind of girls, having an on-again-off-again relationship with Bino depending on how his standing is with the neighborhood dogs, and whether or not she feels like it. she wears a heart on her collar. It's been shown that she is very ditzy, having misspelled the word "puppies." Twice. In the same minute.

Daisy, Amazingly enough, she is less intelligent than Sasha.

Maxwell, The ‘neighbor cat’, the one everyone is always getting into everyone’s business and caterwauling late at night. The fact that he wears a bell on his collar doesn’t seem to dissuade him.

Sabrina, The quiet, unassuming type. She just tries not to make much noise among the other pets. Currently having a relationship with Fido which must be kept secret because of the fact that she's a cat.
