The inaugural 2017 event was notable in having the support of airport and airline staff allowing [[Fursuit|fursuiting]] in the terminal and in the flights themselves. ==2017 Flight Details==
The flight was organized by [[Mike Folf]] under ''CanisVulpes'' and booked on [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_America Virgin America], picked specifically for its marketed party vibe<ref>[http://canisvulpes.com/forming-furflight/ Forming FurFlight - CanisVulpes]</ref>. The 66 furries were divided as follows:
* 56 in coach
* 5 in premium economy (marketed as Main Cabin Select)
* 5 in first class

While based in San Francisco International Airport, Midwest Furflight attracted furries from Seattle, Southern California, Las Vegas, and further places such as Singapore and Washington DC<ref>[https://twitter.com/GoCanisVulpes/status/921531770721275906 Furflight Statistics from CanisVulpes twitter account]</ref>

Fursuiters were escorted by security into their own priority line to expedite the screening process, with suiting permitted afterwards. Furries were also given their own boarding group after first class. This unsurprisingly managed to catch the eye of several passing passengers, one of which [https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/7gp1yn/apparently_booked_a_business_trip_on_a_furry/ posted on and briefly made the front page of reddit]. Due to a failure to achieve any direct contact with O'Hare officials, fursuiting wasn't permitted in the latter airport with all suiters having to take the heads off upon exit of the plane. ==Future Flights==
On April 13, 2018 it was announced that Midwest FurFlight would be reprised and expanded to three cities along the west coast: Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles <ref>[https://twitter.com/GoCanisVulpes/status/984923261484941314 @GoCanisVulpes announcement]</ref>. These flights are operated by Alaska Airlines and would be ran with an additional flight from Wednesday.
