Furry camping

Furry camping is a type of furry get-together in which most of the events takes place outdoors. As in normal camping outings, the participants are likely to either take temporary shelter in a tent, cabin, or lodge, particularly in a wooded or climatologically partially-inhospitable area.

While not technically regarded as camping, ski events also mostly take place outside of manmade buildings (while the participants are likely to take shelter in a hotel). Waterborne cruises such as Furry Cruise, however, mostly fall outside of the outdoor event genre, since most of the subevents within the cruise take place in or on a boat, where hotel-style accommodations and amenities are readily available.

At present, Oklacon is the largest single furry camping convention in the world, and is also the first and longest running outdoor furry convention in the United States. However, Camp Feral! is the longest running furry camping convention in the world.

Outdoor events overview
Furry camping, in comparison to indoor furmeets and conventions, tend to have less constant worries about attendee capacity, as the main incentive for campers is to bring their own temporary shelter and gear. However, as most furry camping events as of 2009 take place in the summer in continental climate zones, the main worry for organizers is the safety and self-regulation of furry campers in a less-constrained, less-tamed atmosphere.

Typical tracks and events
* Barbecue and outdoors cooking
* Dancing
* Games
* Geocaching
* Large-scale outdoor games such as Predator and Prey, Tag, or Capture the Flag

Furstock - a yearly event for furries in Poland. It is not a convention in the classical sense of the term, however due to its amount of attendees (more than 35 in 2008) and length (3-5 days) it is closer in form to a Convention than a Furmeet. Furstock occurs every year during the weekend dividing July and August, in Kostrzyn nad Odrą during the largest open-air music festival in Europe named Przystanek Woodstock.

Furstock 2011 will take place 4 – 6 August 2011.

Form
Furstock escapes from the classical nature of conventions with its laid back, unorganised character. It is a meeting in the form of a campsite, without registration, fees, a programme of events or defined organisers. The convention takes place on the terrain of the music festival and its participants are also participants of the music festival itself, and take advantage of its facilities such as running water, medical huts, 'woodstock trains' and fast-food stands - and also take part in the parties and attractions taking place as part of the music festival.

Traditionally, Furstock takes place under the Polfurs flag. The tents of the participants are arranged in a circle, creating a mini colony in the centre of which which the tenants take part in various invented 'ad-hoc' attractions and games. Despite the lack of an official events programme, many events typical of conventions take place - drawing workshops, RPG game sessions, themed group discussions, shows - such as poi-poi juggling, use of Nunchuks, but also some completely spontaneous things such as group howling to the moon, 1001 jokes in the manner of "Your mom so...", or a discussion on the topic of "Religion and Anthropomorphism" with a Catholic priest invited from the Przystanek Jezus group.

History
Furstock has been taking place since 2005, when 6 members of Polfurs attended together.

In 2006, around 12 furries were present and the idea of naming the congregation of furries at the festival began to circulate.

Furstock 2007 had around 26 attendees and was the largest Furry meeting in Poland at the time.

Furstock 2008, over 35 attendees and another record (though it was soon beaten by Futrzakon 2008), the more persistent attendees stayed for 5 days.

Furstock 2009 was held from July 31st to August 2nd. The camp, unlike the years before, wasn't placed on the Woodstock field near the water taps, but moved near the Krishna's Peace Village after original location was claimed for motorists camp.

Furstock 2010 (27 July - 1 August) was held in the same place.

The provided attendance counts are approximate, because nobody makes an official headcount, and many furries arrive with Mundane friends, whom it is difficult to determine as either actual Furstock attendees or just Woodstock attendees resident at the Furstock camp.

Interesting facts
* Thanks to the technical interests of the attendees, the Furstock camp is one of the best technically equipped camps at the festival. The campers have power generators, several laptops and cellphones with internet access, palmtops, halogen floodlighting, a cooker, refrigerator and other equipment not usually available in primitive campsite conditions.
* Since there is always someone at camp, no reported incidents of theft have occurred, that usually plague the Przystanek Woodstock music festival.
* The traditional identifying symbol of the Furstock campsite is the large yellow airblown advertisement balloon located at the centre of the site, that shelters the attendees from severe sunshine or drizzle.
* The Polfurs flag that flies at the campsite is 'nomadic', in that it is entrusted to a different attendee each year to take care of it until the next year's Furstock.

Futrzakon is the first full-scale furry convention organized in Poland. Plans to hold this convention were made for a considerable amount of time until the first edition of the con took place in the fall of 2008. The name of the con quite simply derives from the polish words for Furry (Futrzak) and Convention (Konwent). The convention was organized in conjunction with heavy support from the polfurs.org web service, which provided site coding, publicity and hosting.

Futrzakon 2008
The initial edition of the convention took place from the 26th to the 28th of September in a place called Dzierżązna (in Polish), close to the city of Łódź in Poland. There were 37 attendees to the convention, all Polish nationals. Included in the con agenda were events such as a large bonfire, a moviemaking workshop, an art competition, LARPs, RPG sessions, a volleyball tournament and many others.

During the second evening of the convention, a charity auction took place to raise money for the WWF's "Save the
European Lynx" fund. Congoers were to bring furry-related items from home that they could afford to part with and
put them up for sale. The winning pieces of the art competition were also sold, alongside some commission slots from artists. The auction raised 1380 PLN in total (approx. $430 USD or £280 GBP) and was donated for pixels on the Support the Lynx: Buy a Pixel website.

Staff
The main organizers of the convention were Ryan and Kudłaty. The t-shirts and other technical support was provided by Leniwiec. Various events on the agenda were prepared by Cubey, Edi, Q-nik, Garou_(person), LV and Solon.

Futrzakon 2009
The second edition took place from 13-16 August 2009, at the same venue as the previous convention. One notable opinion of the attendees from the first edition was that it was too short, so an extra day was added.

As of 10 March 2009, all available reservation places at the convention site were taken, counting at least 50 prospective attendees (not including visiting con-goers attending only during the day and staying elsewhere).

The main organizer was Ryan. Cubey was programming coordinator, while Leniwiec, Huskion and Vethuleion provided logistical and technical support..

Events
Events at the convention included:

* Bonfire/Socialising
* Tai-Chi
* Furry Soccer
* Furry Volleyball
* Water Fights
* Jenga Workshop
* DDR Competition
* Karaoke Competition
* Charity Auction (at which 1810zł (~US$645) was raised)
* Art Competition
* "Movie" Workshop
* "Who wants to be a Millionaire" game
* The Dance, including many additional minor competitions such as "Name that Melody"

In Demand
Prior to the convention taking place, some criticism arose due to the limit of available places and the underestimation of public interest - as the only furry convention organised in Poland at present, Futrzakon caters to a population of several hundred (active users on Polfurs.org), who are mostly unwilling or unable to travel abroad to other conventions in Europe. Subsequently, the second edition of the convention has not grown enough to accommodate the amount of furries willing to participate. The third edition of Futrzakon will attempt to remedy this by changing the venue to a larger one.

Futrzakon 3
The third edition of the event is to take place 11-14 August 2010. It has a theme of "Colorful 70s" and is primarily organized by Cubey. 67 attendees are planned.

Futrzakon 4
The third edition of the event will take place 10 - 13 August 2011. It's organized by Cubey. 70 attendees are planned.

Policies and content
This board does not feature a list of people that draw furries that don't want them posted. Although polite takedown requests from said people are usually heeded, impolite or impatient takedown requests from artists are often disregarded. Due to pressure from furry artist Jeremy Bernal, whose filed repeated DMCA takedown notices for WTFur, posting of his art or other media from Sexyfur.com is considered a bannable offense.

As it was with WTFux, its main furry directory image is a singular topical board called /furi/. This allows all manner of media topics to be displayed, ranging from clean art to adult material, to straight to gay sexual content, to vore, scat and cub art, all posted side-by-side.

Because of this, there have been several requests by users to subdivide this master board into smaller categories, using a model similar to other imageboards such as Fchan. The official stance of the moderation team is that requests of this nature will be ignored, and when questioned about this decision, ex-moderator Mellis responded thus why the reason of a single unified board:
