Furmania is a furry clothing and accessories business based in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom run by Sara the Snow Leopard and her partner Ruffy the Husky.<br />

The idea for Furmania happened when my partner wanted to buy a furry based t-shirt but we had to buy it from America. After paying for the T-shirt we waited for about 2 -3 weeks for it to arrive. When it did arrive, the postman wouldn't hand it over without us paying about £30 in import charges! <br />

We didn't have the money on us at the time and he couldn't accept card so he had to take it back to the depot, which was heartbreaking after waiting so long for it to arrive, nearly having it and then having it taken away. We went to the bank and withdrew the money and then had to go to the depot to pick it up so we could get it on the same day. <br />

All the while I was thinking there is a huge community of furries in the UK why isn't there a UK based furry shop for T-shirts and stuff. So I thought we'll make one!<br />

I wanted to make sure that furs would love Furmania so I looked at the problems we'd had and built from there. <br />
<br /><br />

As I wanted waiting time to be kept to a minimum and I didn't want to have to rely on a middle man to print our T-shirts which would take time and more chance of things going wrong, I decided to research ways of how to print everything myself. This proved a bit of a challenge as we wanted people to be able to send us a picture of their fursona and get it printed onto a T-shirt. <br />

Screen printing was out as it is normally used for multiple copies of one design, so we looked at sublimation. Sublimation got ruled out as it can only be printed on certain materials and can only really be used on light coloured T-shirts and we wanted to offer dark coloured T-shirts aswell. <br />
<br /><br />
<br />
We also had the problem that a lot of Fursonas contain white colouring which wouldn't show up very well on a colour T-shirt. So after a lot of research we decided to invest £5000 on equipment which included a top of the line OKI printer which gave us the ability to print white ink! <br />
<br /><br />
<br />
This means we can print any fursona or design on to a T-shirt of hoodie and depending on what time the order arrives we can print the order and get it sent off the same day so your not waiting forever for your items.<br />
