Rainhopper, formerly known as AlpineFox, is a long standing member of the furry community. The appearance of his character, an 80's arctic rocker Kangaroo, takes visual cues from Vince Neil of Motley Crue, and from Rainhopper's rock idol David Lee Roth. His character stands as the poster-child of the 1980s heavy metal stereotype.

During Anthrocon 2003, he passed out paint pens, asking people to cover his 1987 Lincoln Town car in furry art and signatures of attendees. The first contributors were Babs Bunny and Revvy Rabbit, who helped kick off the project before his arrival, setting the stage for a follow up project. The date of completion for this new project is currently not set in stone, however a goal of 2009 has been set.

Rainhopper and his late husband Pouchhopper held their wedding on January 27th, 2007, conducted by the fandom's own former priest, 2, The Ranting Gryphon, after making the leap from the East Coast area of the United States to the West Coast the previous year. He currently lives in California at his residence, known as the Anaheim Fur House, also home to Waggs Wulf and Alphawolf (aka PrimaryLupine).

In April 2008, Rainhopper was named co-chair of the Southern California convention Califur. Califur is an extension of what once was the old ConFurence conventions which his late husband had been a large part of. Rainhopper hopes to carry on the legacy and passion that pouchhopper left behind for all of the furry fandom.

In his spare time the roo likes to fursuit around Los Angeles and Malibu catching the sights and adding to every little bit of weirdness that is California as well as long hikes through the canyons in Malibu and Eastern OC. He has a firm belief that anyone can get in touch with their inner feral side if they wish so long as they open their heart to such things and embrace their inner self, whatever that may be.

Currently the Anaheim Fur House holds parties which have a typical draw of 70-110 furs at a time. Rainhopper, Waggs, Alphawolf and Summercat all contribute to preparing the house for each of these parties.
Thank you for uploading Rainhopper-Version-2.jpg to Wikifur. The reason my second edit summary said I removed the photobucket image, but the image was still in the article is because I was distracted by pain.
The Anaheim Fur House located at 616 S. Adria in Anaheim California is a furry house in Orange County, California, U.S.A. It is home to Rainhopper Roo, Waggs Wolf, Alphawolf, and Summercat, and is the site of a number of very large parties, often called minicons due to their size and layout.

Layout
The house, which is just half a mile from Disneyland, is roughly 1700 sq ft and, in its current configuration, houses three main social areas:

* The Living Room is home to the main social gatherings at the parties. This, in conjunction with the back patio, is where most visitors meet.

* The Theater Room is a 20ft-by-20ft beanbag-filled plushie room containing a full-scale theater with a 120" projection screen and a surround-sound system that is kept calibrated by Alphawolf and Kips.<br>This theater is used to show movies that vary in range from completely furry to completely-off-the-wall horror films from the 1940s.

* The Garage has been converted into a gaming area with a second projector that is set up for events with full screen tourneys. Along the rest of the walls are stations for the Wii, 360, PS2, and a dedicated rockband station.

Attendees to the AFH have sometimes brought professional light and fog rigs, and offered a full DJ setup for the parties.

History
Historically, the AFH parties have always been (and will always be) G-rated drug-and-booze-free parties. Several attendees have chosen this venue to introduce their parents to the furry fandom. The Hosts welcome people from all walks of life, from furry to non-furry to celebrity alike. Some furs have come from as far away as the other side of the country to attend parties at the AFH.

The AFH was also the venue of the wedding between Rainhopper and Pouchhopper Roo, and a memorial of this event can be found hanging by the mantle, in the form of a hand-drawn piece of artwork by Skadjer.

The Anaheim Fur House is based in Orange County California. Home to Rainhopper Roo, Waggs Wulf, Alphawolf and Summercat, This site is home to a number of very large parties often called minicons due to thier size and layout.

The house which is just 1/2 a mile from Disneyland is roughly 1700 sq ft and in its current configuration houses 3 main social areas.

The Living room is home to the main social gatherings at the parties. This in conjunction with the back patio is where you will meet most of the fandom crunched together in a walking talking mass of fuzzyness.

The theater room is a full scale theater with a 120" projection screen and a decent surround sound system calibrated by both Alphawolf and the very skilled Kips all contained in a 20ft by 20ft beanbag filled plushie room. This theater ususally shows movies varying in range from completely furry to completely off the wall horror films form the 1940s. While the housemates like to keep a wide selection of movies, its very hard to choose what to buy and often the decision lands them with several copies of the same movie.

The garage is converted into a completely designated gaming area with a second projector that is set up for events for full screen tourneys. Along the rest of the walls are stations for the Wii, 360, PS2 and a dedicated rockband station. Future developments include a dedicated DDR station as well.

There is plans in the works for a 4th area dedicated to dance in the backyard. recent attendees have brought professional light and fog rigs and offered a full DJ setup for the parties. Depending on the organization, this may be a perminate factor for the furhouse parties.

Historically the AFH parties have always been and will always be g rated drug and booze free parties. Several attendees usually are coming for the first time and choose this venue to bring thier parents to to help introduce the fandom as well as the typical party environments they are caught scurrying off too. The Hosts are always happy to welcome all walks of life from furry to non furry to celebrity alike and have done so for many in the past and hope to do so for many to come. Some furs have come from as far away as the other side of the country to attend these parties. We are still baffled, confused and humbled by this fact!

There have been talks about expanding the house to a full gathering area in some type of venue however this is dispelled as a rumor at this time as the hosts find they have more than ample room (at this time) to host at this time.

The AFH was also home to the wedding between Rainhopper and Pouchhopper Roo and a memorial of this event can be found hanging by the mantle as a hand drawn piece of artwork by the very talented Skadjer.

Califur is a convention that succeeded the long-running ConFurence as the annual furry event of Southern California. Califur is organized by FENEC Adventures. Related events include Califur Train, and Califur Diego. Attendance has grown from 328 persons in the first year to 587 as of 2008.

Origin of FENEC and Califur
FENEC ("Furries Enjoying the Natural Environments of California") was conceived by Robert "Alohawolf" Johnson Jr., Dawn Britt, and Dennis Carr with the initial idea of having a furry-themed campout. While riding home from the southern California FurBQ, Dawn had commented to Dennis and his wife, Karmin, about the lack of other camping events such as Feral! in Southern California. Dennis pointed this out while chatting on the Furnet IRC Network, and Robert took charge from there.

As the campout was being planned, additional staffers including Glen Wooten, Zsanene "Zee" Stevens, Tank "Trapa" Winters, "Drew kitty" along with ConFurence co-founders Mark Merlino and Rod O'Riley were brought on board. With the demise of ConFurence in 2003, Mark and Robert expressed a desire to see a regional convention maintained in Southern California. The decision was made in early autumn of 2003 to plan a traditional hotel-based convention to succeed 2003 with Califur 0 the following year.

History
Califur 0
The first Califur was held May 28-30, 2004 at the Atrium Hotel in Irvine, California. Though original expectations were modest, this inaugural dry run had an unexpected 328 attendees, over five times that of Confurence 0.

Between 2004 and 2005, there were many staffing changes, but significant growth was achieved in both room registrations and attendance.

Califur 1
The second Califur was held May 20-22, 2005 with an island theme and had 383 attendees at The Holiday Inn in Costa Mesa, California, a 15% gain over the previous year.

After 2005, there were some minor staff changes, with Zsanene "TigerEyes" Stevens being selected by the FENEC board to succeed original Califur founder Robert "Alohawolf" Johnson Jr. as the new chairperson.

Califur 2
The third Califur was held May 5-7, 2006 with a pirate theme and had 434 attendees at the same location as the previous year.

Califur 3
The fourth Califur was held May 4-6, 2007 and had 496 registered attendees at the same location as Califur 1 and 2. The theme was "Our Favorite Furry Villains" (Scar, Professor Ratigan, Don Karnage, Jack Salem, Bun Bun, and many more). The Artist Guests of Honor were Balaa and Roz Gibson, and the Musical Guest of Honor was Marc Gunn (creator of Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers). The 2006 Ursa Major Awards was held on the opening night of the convention. Dealers Den spaces were sold out at least a month before the event, indicating that the con had again outgrown its venue.

Califur 4
The fifth Califur was 15-18, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, California. The steampunk theme was announced on the last day of Califur 3.

Califur 5
The sixth Califur, CF2.5, is to be held June 5th through 7th at the Irvine Marriott in Irvine, California. The theme is announced to be 'On Safari', and was revealed as part of the convention packet.

Related events
Califur Train
A train trip has been organized each May by co-chair Trapa to help Vancouver and Seattle area furries make the long journey to Califur in Southern California.

Califur Diego
Califur Diego is "a furry artist reception" held during the annual Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. This furmeet was inspired by the now-defunct CritterConDiego which also scheduled its events in the evening after the Comic-Con dealer rooms were closed. It was most recently held on July 22, 2006 at the Horton Grand Hotel. It is next scheduled to be held on July 27-28, 2007.
