BARA is an image board featuring images of muscle men. The name comes from the Japanese term Barazoku, which was a gay-oriented magazine in Japan for many years before the popularity of G-Men. It hosts primarily gay content, with no official support for content featuring females.

Content
The main image board contains four categories: Real, Drawn, Furry, and Alternate (containing anything that could be considered "objectionable" by certain users of the other boards, such as straight/bisexual, scat and guro). The board also has an oekaki board and social board for general discussion, generally about gay culture, anime and video games, and other general non-porn interests.

History
This board was originally a small but active sub-board of the now-defunct AnonIB, by the name "bara0" (derived from the URL of the board). When that site went down permanently due to numerous complaints of CP, IB4F took its place and bara0 followed there. The same problems that AnonIB faced struck IB4F as well, and their life cycles were vastly similar. When IB4F fell, the community felt it was in their best interests to remove themselves from such services and create their own board that would actually survive. Using the forum community hub at AdultForumHost.com as a base, user ZokuBL created the new website on December 3, 2010.

AnonIB was a website that hosted various imageboards, including some furry boards. AnonIB hosted AnthroArtists and Ritachan, and many others containing furry sub-boards. The site's servers have been down as of November 8, 2010 and there is no status notification available. There have been no publicly-made plans to revive the website.

AnonIB suffered from significant downtime, often caused by complaints of child pornography and other illegal activities, forcing the site to be shut down for eradication. The site's servers were allegedly seized by the FBI at least once due to these activities.

ImageBoard4Free
Another website offering similar services (though otherwise unrelated), known as ImageBoard4Free, or IB4F, was created during one of the lengthy downtimes of AnonIB. It hosted a similar series of boards and followed a similar life cycle, ending in much the same manner as AnonIB. Unlike AnonIB, however, any IB4F URL redirects to a downtime notice. Infinitus, the site's creator, states his desire to revive IB4F in some capacity after software and moderation improvements. The site's last update was made on November 16, 2010.
