The Ursa Major Awards are intended to be the furry fandom award for outstanding achievement in anthropomorphic and furry arts, equivalent to the science fiction fandom's Hugo Awards. The awards were first presented in 2001 at 12. Due to the early misconception that the Awards were intended for the ConFurence alone, in 2003 it was decided that the awards would be presented at as many furry conventions as possible. To that end, the UMA's were presented at C-ACE in 2004, at Anthrocon in 2005, and at Rocket City FurMeet in 2006.

This has nothing to do with the entry, but would you just listen to me for a little bit? See, I went to the local Yoshinoya today. Right. Yoshinoya. And the damn place was packed so full of people, I couldn't even find a seat. So I looked around a bit, and I found a sign that said "150 yen off". What the hell is wrong with you people? Are you idiots or something? Any other day you wouldn't even think of going to Yoshinoya, but if it's 150 yen off, you all flock in here? It's just 150 fucking yen! 150 yen! And you're bringing the kids too. Look at that, a family of four going to Yoshinoya. Con-fucking-gratulations. And now the guy's going, "All right! Daddy's going to order the extra-large!" Shit, I can't watch any more of this.

Yoshinoya should be fucking brutal. Two guys sit facing each other across a U-shaped table, and you never quite know if they'll suddenly just start a fight right there. It's stab-or-be-stabbed, and that's what so damn great about the place. Women and kids should stay the fuck away.

Well, I finally found a seat, but then the guy next to me goes, "I'll have an large bowl with extra gravy!". So now I'm pissed off again. Who the fuck orders extra gravy these days? Why are you looking so goddamn proud when you say that? I was gonna ask you, are you really going to fucking eat all that gravy? I wanted to fucking interrogate you. For about a fucking hour. You know what? I think you just wanted to say "extra gravy".

Now, take it from the Yoshinoya veteran. The latest thing among the Yoshinoya pros is this: Extra green onions. That's the ticket. A large bowl with extra onions, and egg. This is what someone who knows his shit orders. They put in more onions, and less meat. A large bowl with the raw egg, that's really fucking awesome. Now, you should know, if you keep ordering this, there's a risk employees might write you up. This really is a double-edged sword. I really can't recommend this for amateurs.

Cow Scritching
To start with, most cows absolutely love to be brushed, scritched, petted. One almost universally well-known spot most cows love to be scritched over, is over their hips, and down the back of their hindlegs. It does happen that some cows when I am scritching them there, deliberately move their rear towards me, so that I will touch their privates.

Most people who are caring about their cows will scritch over their hindlegs and hips, because the cows enjoy it. I am guessing those who are not zoo will move their hand away in case the cow leans their genitals into the scritching. Me, and other cow-loving zoos will just keep touching them, as long as the cow shows that she is enjoying it. So, in a lot of cases, it's actually the cow herself making the first move.

Sometimes, I will instead make the first move, and gently move my hand closer to their genitals. It's like asking a question: "Do you like this right now?" They show extremely clearly wheter they enjoy the touch or not. If they enjoy it, they raise their tail up to the side, allowing easier access, sometimes leaning into my touch. If they don't enjoy it, they lower their tail, and/or step away from me. It's very clear. I don't even touch their genitals, just nearby. And if they show they don't enjoy it, their will is always respected, and I will scritch them in the places they want to be scritched in at the OH SHIT IT'S A LION GET IN THE CAR

I have seen non-furries at AnthroCon asking what a furry is, and at least once had asked me as well. Trying to answer the question is a very tricky subject without some line of reference that most people can relate to commonly. For me when describing what furries are, I ask them in return "Have you ever watched Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny?" And wait for their answers on that. I go on to tell tham that some furries are like those characters, or think of similar characters of their own devising as their alter egos. Everyone at Anthrocon basically has their own answers for the question, and some do not use anthromporhic animals as their fursonas. It may also fall into the catagory of "furry fandom", but I find that answering the question of "What is a furry" using Bugs Bunny as a reference point so people can make the link themselves with less confusion. --Markus 10:18, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
:I'm not sure, either. Wikipedia links mostly to the furry fandom and furry lifestyle pages, but we might not want to follow them, although we can always use information from those pages to construct stuff here (with proper attribution - see the bottom of Tapestries MUCK). --GreenReaper 14:07, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I'm wondering why the entry for "furry" was closed for editing? After all, what better way to attempt to define the meaning of furry than to allow the multitudes to come to some sort of collaborative definition?
I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

In West Philadelphia I was born and raised On the playground is where I spent most of my days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin all cool, And all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school.

When a couple of guys who were up to no good, Started makin' trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, And said "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in bel Air."

I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, The license plate said "fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cat was rare, But I thought "Nah forget it, Yo home to Bel Air."

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight, and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later." Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.
::::In fact, yes. However, it is usually better to list the information you want to add in this page and if it is workable, it'll go up. In this case, I will bring it to another admin's view for a second opinion. --Markus
