The comic started as a joke comic by David to pass the time in his math class. His friends took a liking to the comic so he decided to continue it. At first the comic was in black and white with about 83 issues. Later, the comic was revised and was given color which had 31 issues.

After that, '''World Gates II: Chaotic Fantasty''' was made and contained 12 issues. Unlike the first, WGII does not use '''Vilitan''' in it, but instead uses a character named '''Sura Strike''' who is a [[werewolf]]. Even though the first two versions of World Gates was never uploaded onto DeviantArt, WGII was given that privilege.

The first WG was revised a second time and was placed onto DeviantArt before being revised for the last time, it had 7 issues. Currently, WG is on number 9 and is given "Filler" episodes as a type of time skip to episode 10. Also, '''World Gates III: Zeta Evolution''', another version with a different story line, was made and has 1 issue so far.
