==History==
In June, 2006 the site announced an impending upgrade to the site called "Project Ferrox"<ref>[http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?t=1470 FA Code Update: Project Ferrox] posted by Dragoneer on June 17, 2006</ref>; Fur Affinity opting to eschew the version numbers (i.e. v1, v2 and v3) it had previously used.

Status announcements were regular during the following month, with Dragoneer announcing that a closed beta would begin soon<ref>[http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?t=1641 Questions and Poll on the Ferrox Code] posted by Dragoneer on July 4, 2006</ref> and Alkora posting (now removed) screenshots of Ferrox to his Fur Affinity gallery.<ref>[http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?t=1948 Project ferrox updates (screenshots)] posted by Alkora on July 23, 2006</ref>

The code reached an estimated 60% completion{{fact}} before being pushed back to an early Winter/Spring 2007 release in effort to follow new quality and coding standards. The effective release date was "when it's ready" as Ferrox was not going to be released until Fur Affinity staff felt it had undergone sufficient testing and bug hunting.{{fact}}

As months passed with no announcements, Ferrox was derided as vaporware.<ref>[http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?t=5070#7 Ferrox - any time now?]</ref>

Eevee intended to release Ferrox as open source at some point<ref>[http://forums.furaffinity.net/showpost.php?p=537547&postcount=5 Open source?] post by Net-cat on August 6, 2008</ref> and, in October 2008, Ferrox's code was made publicly available.

===Current development===
On Tuesday, March 17, 2009, RossyFox announces that Eevee relayed him a message of his resignatoin, "I quit," noting that it is not at the fault of Eevee for the further delay in the project but at the community itself.<ref>[http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?p=917490#post917490 Eevee resigns from Ferrox Project?]
