Fenris (born December 13, 1987) is an American furry artist and who lives in Houston, Texas. He is an editorial cartoonist for The Daily Cougar, a student newspaper based at the University of Houston, and a parttime humor writer and radio commentator for Taking Up Space.

His fursona is a southern red werewolf (Canis rufus). He is a fan of transformation and were-related artwork.

History
Born in Scotland, Fenris lived several years in the United Arab Emirates before coming to the United States in 1994. As of 2004, he is an American citizen.
Fenris has been published since the age of 13. He has appeared in a handful of school newspapers, in the form of cartoons or editorials prior to his current position at The Daily Cougar. As a longtime fan of werewolves, he was introduced to transformation in 2002, and later to furries themselves in 2004, via deviantART.

As of August 2006, he attends the University of Houston as a graphic design major, and hopes to graduate by 2010. That same year, Fenris released his website and took his job as editorial cartoonist for The Cougar.

Fursona
Even before he fully understood the furry fandom, Fenris drew pictures of himself as a werewolf as early as 2003. He later elaborated that he was a southern red wolf with solid carmine fur, stating on his website, "a southern red wolf seemed ideal for me because I'm a southerner, and as popular as wolves are as a personal avatar, I seldom see humanlike canis rufuses running around RP chats."

He often switches between representing himself as a red wolf, and Fenris as a separate entity to complement his human side. His name derives from Norse Mythology.

Art
While offering a variety of different artistic media, his style remains consistent in several ways. His cartoons were largely inspired by Garfield, and occasionally are compared to The Simpsons. He always depicts his characters as bug-eyed with no irises, thick fingers, defined outlines, and neutral angles. Inking in editorial cartoons is usually significantly scratchier than colored works on his website, due to the deadline required for such works.

Recently, Fenris started offering commissioned websites, coded from scratch.

Writings
Fenris started writing miniature essays in his deviantART journal in July 2005, and redistributed them on his website in 2007. His writing style is inspired by Maddox, something that Fenris does not keep secret. While he often writes rants, he sometimes satirizes or even praises aspects of the popular culture.

Podcasts
Since August 2007, Fenris hosted a segment on Taking Up Space and ACTfur On Air called "Fen Rants." He was invited at the time to join the crew by Kraden and has since become friends with the cast.

Intentionally modeled to imitate 2, the Ranting Gryphon, Fenris selects a subject every episode to rant about for about two minutes. Subjects discussed range from minor nuisances such as chain letters to more controversial matters such as the Darfur conflict. About one in every five rants focuses on debunking conspiracy theories.

Activism
An outspoken libertarian, Fenris is known in some circles for his many opinions and pet peeves. He is a vocal critic of organizations or individuals he perceives to be conspirational, cult-like, or resistant to personal liberties. He describes himself as a "former liberal" and Jewish.

In fall 2006, Fenris served as an intern for the campaign of Congressman Nick Lampson (D-TX.) He sporadically devotes volunteer time to a local animal shelter or children's art camp.

At least two activist groups have responded to his several writings so far, critical of his antagonistic style.

Kraden

2008-11-30T07:16:22Z

60.242.103.228: /* Podcast */

Kraden (born October 8th, 1986) is a furry artist who lives in Canberra, ACT, Australia. Starting off his time in the fandom as a low-calibre digital artist, he slowly expanded his skills and social circles. Now as a rather active member of the Australian Furry and Anthropomorphic scene he's rising as a local personality in the community.

Outlook
When asked about his outlook on the fandom.

"I used to feel weird about labeling myself as a furry, with the slight social stigmas attached and the difficulty in explaining what it was. Unlike most furs I'm first and foremost an Anthro artist, instead of feeling a lifestyle or desire to personify my fursona.

After a while though I decided to stop mincing thoughts on the topic and just say that yes, I'm a furry. I encourage others to do the same as just accepting that it's something you do makes it much easier and more enjoyable. I'm perfectly capable of laughing at the fandom and myself, honestly, what we do is pretty odd.
But therein lies the absurdity and magic, which is what makes it special"

Podcast
Kraden is one of the hosts of a geek themed podcast called Taking Up Space, a comedic talk show about the weird, wonderful and downright odd happenings in the news, geekdom, media and around the world.
Other regular hosts are Bairn (Emily), Almosee (Nat) and Ashura (Neil).

Other segments are provided by Kelthoraan & Ray Liehm from Australia, as well as Fenris and Nanaki XIII for the USA.

On August 25, 2008, Kraden announced that he would be working on another show under the title ACTfur on Air.

ACTfur on Air is a Furry\Anthro based podcast focusing on Interviews, Discussion and Events inside the local and international fandom and currently has no connections to Taking Up Space. Its first episode premiered on October 30th.

The hosts of the show are Kell Bengal, Jeneara and Kraden.
Each week they interview another person in the furry fandom.

ACTFur on air is broadcast live every second Thursday though Radio Furture. The podcast is then placed online a few days later on its (podbean account.)

Fursona
Kraden describes his fursona species as a "WolfCyoteFoxJellybean".
Originally named 'Echo' and drawn as a blue wolf, the design was inspired by the artist Spunky.

Kraden\Echo's personality and color scheme slowly evolved into a very outgoing, eccentric and unique character. Kraden says that many of Echo's characteristics have leaked into his own personality, so now he doesn't separate his own character form his fursona (as in some earlier art). When asked about this he said

"Initially when I made my first furry character Echo I was planning on a whole bunch more to draw and create dynamics between. It's been over 5 years now and I still haven't gotten around to making the others. Perhaps it's just that the little blue fuzzball took a hold of my brain and won't let go"
