Primagen (/ˈpɹi.mə.dʒɛn/) are a robotic [[closed species]] created by [https://twitter.com/CoolKoinu Malice-risu] on Furaffinity. Primagen characters can be obtained through auctions held on the Furaffinity page. These auctions have been known to reach bids upwards of $1,200.<ref name="blog">[https://runesfurryblog.wordpress.com/2017/04/11/protogens-are-the-new-craze/ Protogens are the the new craze!!! - Rune's Furry Blog] retrieved June 10th 2020</ref> It is important to understand that while preexisting characters or works of art created by an individual are illegal to use without consent, the use of a fictional species or races are within public domain and allows anyone to use them freely without harassment or discrimination against the individual.<br />

Primagen are cyborgs which most notably have an electronic visor as a face. A primagen's facial visor displays eyes, nostrils, and a mouth which can all move and change shape in response to the character's emotions. A primagen's visor forms a long snout shape. Primagen also have four robotic ears.<ref name="design-doc">[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r88WxqjujYICV_P-vX2009K5zX4uqgfucmidLoKZ70Y PRIMAGENS] retrieved June 10th 2020</ref><br />
<br />
The Primagen body plan is humanoid with very large thighs and digitigrade feet. Primagen feature a large raptor-like claw on each of their feet. The species is stated to be "70% artificial," only having an organic brain, spine, and skin/fur. They purportedly also have an inactive organic digestive system.<ref name="design-doc"/><br />
<br />
According to lore primagen were created in another universe by alien scientists to scout out planets. They apparently learned how to escape from their owner and spread across their universe.<ref name="design-doc"/><br />

== Protogen ==<br />
<br />
Protogens (/ˈpɹoʊ.toʊ.dʒɛn/, /ˈpɹoʊ.tə.dʒɛn/) are a [[regulated species]] based on primagen. They are more open than primagen in that anyone can create protogen characters, but they are still limited in that certain design features are not allowed. These features are disallowed as they would make them look too similar to primagen. Protogens may not be hybrids, and they must be bipedal.<ref name="blog"/><br />
<br />
Protogen are shorter than primagen and have smaller, more rounded visors. Their visors are made of very small machines which can effectively chew food which is then swallowed. Protogen have working digestive systems, unlike primagen. They are stated to be earlier prototype creatures which were eventually modified into the primagen.<ref name="blog"/><br />
<br />
Certain "rare" protogen features are allowed to be included freely. These elements include three sets of ears, multiple tails, wings, supernumerary limbs, etc.<ref name="blog"/><br />
