A Gryphon, also known as Gryffin, Gryphen, Griffin, Griffon, or Gryphin, is a legendary creature. Traditionally, it is a combination of an eagle and a lion. However, many different bird-mammal combinations are recognized in the furry fandom, as well as more unusual variations.

Griffie
A dual meaning term, it is both a cute variant to describe a griffin and a demeaning Anti-furry label for any furry fan and/or artist fond of such creatures.cn

Anatomy
A typical gryphon has the head, fore half, front legs and wings of an eagle, and the hind legs and rear half of a lion. The wings are attached at the shoulders and typically fold against the gryphon's back or sides when not in use. The avian and mammalian parts are scaled to compatible proportions. Being winged, gryphons are generally capable of flight, although like dragons, they may be too heavy to be physically able to fly and may use magical means.

A common feature of gryphons in the furry fandom is to have lion-like ears (matching the gryphon's half species) rather than the avian ears, which are hidden under the feathers. Gryphon genitalia corresponds to that on mammals.

Gryphon tails often lie on the boundary between eagle and lion and are subject to interpretation. Different variations include:

* Fully avian tail
* Fully mammalian tail
* Mammalian-avian hybrid tail (generally a mammalian tail ending in a fan of feathers)
* Feathered dinosaur tail (a thick, meaty tail with a fan of feathers down part of its length)
* Two tails, avian and mammalian
* Rarely, the Gryphon may have a snake for a tail

Reptiles are a cold-blooded class of animals, typically identified by being covered in scales.

The most typical reptile is probably the lizard, of which there are many kinds. More specialised reptiles include snakes (which lack legs), tortoises (which are protected by a thick shell), and crocodiles (which have bony plates under their scales).

Dragons often have reptilian features.

Reptiles are one of the oldest forms of animal life on Earth coming from dinosaurs, meaning "terrible lizards".

Primate

2601:283:C201:78D0:0:0:0:5EF9: /* Apes */

unref

A primate is any member of the biological order Primate, the group that contains all the species commonly related to the lemurs, monkeys, and apes, with the latter category including humans.

Appearance
Primates are generally characterized as having five fingers, a generalized dental pattern, and a primitive (unspecialized) body plan. Another distinguishing feature of primates is fingernails. Opposing thumbs are also a characteristic primate feature.

Monkeys
Monkeys are known for their long prehensile tails and extreme agility. In captivity, they have a habit of imitating the movements of people watching them, which gave rise to the term "ape", meaning to mimic. Monkeys are usually characterized as mischievous and rude. The monkey is a sign of the Chinese zodiac.

Apes
Apes include orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans. A few other primates have the word "ape" in their common names, but they are not regarded as true apes by most authorities.

Except for gorillas and humans, all true apes are agile climbers of trees. They are best described as omnivorous, their diet consisting of fruit, grass seeds, and in most cases some quantities of meat and invertebrates—either hunted or scavenged—along with anything else available and easily digested. They are native to Africa and Asia, although humans have spread to all parts of the world.

**The budget shooter The Monkey King on Wii features two in the form of Wukong (Michael in Japan) and Mei Mei, a female monkey with hair buns in a chinese dress.

Apes
*The most famous human who thinks he's a non-human ape is Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. Tarzan was an infant, reared by a family of gorillas and believes he too is a gorilla until he meets others like him. This story has been parodied as well in George of the Jungle.
*A fictional race of anthropomorphic highly intelligent gorillas exist in the DC Comics universe in a secret city of gorillas, including a Flash villain named Gorilla Grodd.
*The giant gorilla is a recurring theme in film, especially in the various incarnations of King Kong and Mighty Joe Young.

Animal

2019-09-03T01:44:33Z

2601:283:C201:78D0:0:0:0:5EF9:

Animals are a group of organisms, classified as the kingdom Animalia or Metazoa. In general they are multicellular, capable of locomotion and responsive to their environment, and feed by consuming other organisms. Their body plan becomes fixed as they develop, usually early on in their development as embryos, although some undergo a process of metamorphosis later on.

Biologically, humans fall under the animal kingdom, and are in this sense animals. However, sometimes confusion arises because the word is also used contrastively with human-- that is, to indicate non-human animals.
