Heat is a furry fiction magazine published annually by Sofawolf Press. An all-orientations erotic anthology, Heat features “a mix of short fiction, comics, poetry, and assorted graphic arts pieces intended to evoke a sense of passion and romance.” While the vast majority of submissions published in Heat include explicit sexual themes, the series aspires to present developed stories driven by characters and their relationships, “in which sexuality is an important part of the way the plot plays out, but sex is not the only reason for the story.”

The first issue of Heat, edited by Jeff Eddy, was published in 2004, and subsequent issues edited by Alopex have been published each year thereafter (excepting the second issue, also published in 2004, and a hiatus in 2006). Heat has maintained a high standard of quality throughout the years of its history, earning recognition as Best Anthropomorphic Magazine in the 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Ursa Major Awards. It also contained 2007's short fiction winner, Don't Blink by Kyell Gold.

Heat is published as a perfect-bound volume with color covers on gloss-coated cardstock and grayscale interiors on matte paper. The first issue was printed at letter size, while all subsequent volumes have been 8 in × 10.5 in. The content of a typical issue of Heat has increased over time, with issues since #6 reaching a plateau in the area of 90-100 pages imposed primarily by cost restraints of printing and shipping. Although there is usually some thematic overlap between the submissions published in a given volume, issues of Heat do not conform to a tight topical theme, aiming instead for diversity in style, sexual orientation, and erotic intensity.
