'''Macro''' (a Greek [[W:Prefix|prefix]] meaning "''large''" or "''long''"), also known as a '''macrofurry''', and (less commonly) as a '''furry giant''', is a [[furspeak]] term used to describe any [[furry]] [[character]] who is much larger in size than a normal being.

== Overview ==

Commonly, macros start around anything above 50 feet (15 meters), which means anything from a character larger than a normal [[human]] (8-9 feet = 2.44 to 2.74 meters tall), to [[W:Titan (mythology)|titans]] that dwarf cities, with the most common type of locomotion being either [[bipedal]], [[quadrupedal]] ([[quad]]s or [[taur]]s), or [[pentapedal]]. Intelligence-wise, macros can be either [[feral]] or [[anthro]] (sentient).

Macros occur by various means: Growth methods via pills or a ray of some description (alien abductions normally, or mad doctors), or excessive food consumption ([[Doug Winger]]), birthed as a macro-[[creature]] to begin with (e.g. [[dragon]]s-like beings), mutations (a la [[Hulk Bunny]] <nowiki>[</nowiki>Earth-8311's [[Spider-Ham]] universe<nowiki>]</nowiki>), and/or magic, among others.

Macros are the opposite of [[micro]]s, which are furry characters that are smaller than the normal size.

=== Paraphilia ===

The attraction or [[W:Sexual fantasy|sexual fantasy]] to macro characters is known as [[macrophilia]].

== Sites ==

Originally, one of the best-known older sites dedicated to macro furs was [[Macrophile.com]], while other sites included [[Temdant's Macro Furry and Animal in Media Page]], a website of macro transformations in the media, and [[The Giants' Club]], a hangout and archive of macro stories.

But macros can now be found in most modern archives such as [[DeviantArt]], [[Fur Affinity]], [[InkBunny]], [[SoFurry]], [[Weasyl]], etc. and [[W:Social site|social sites]] like [[Twitter]], [[W:Discord|Discord]], [[W:Telegram (software)|Telegram]], et al.

== Artists ==

Noted [[furry artist]]s and [[writer|story writers]] include people such as [[Kenneth Sample]], [[Lisa Jennings]], [[Wolfkidd]], [[Rogue]], [[Kolt]], [[Gideon Hoss|Gideon]], [[Brahma]], [[Timbawulf]], '''Doug Winger''' (until his passing), [[SusanDeer]], [[Bennie]], [[Jolly Jack]], [[Chaswari]], [[Ducky]], [[Astor]], [[Viggen]], [[Temdant]], and many others.

''The Lion Guard'' is a sequel to ''The Lion King'' and takes place during the time-gap within the 1998 film ''[[The Lion King II: Simba's Pride]],'' with the third and final season taking place in parallel with the film's second act, followed by the final two episodes of the series serving as a continuation to the film.

The second season premiered on July 7, 2017. A third season was commissioned on March 15, 2017, and premiered on August 3, 2019, and the series finale aired on November 3, 2019.

==Plot==
Prince [[Kion]] is the son of King [[Simba (The Lion King)|Simba]] and Queen [[Nala]] and the younger brother of Princess [[Kiara]]. As the second-born cub of the royal family, he is gifted with a power called the Roar of the Elders and becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, a team who protects the Pride Lands and defends the Circle of Life. Despite the tradition that the Lion Guard has always been made of lions, Kion appoints his friends Bunga the honey badger, Beshte the hippopotamus, Fuli the cheetah, and Ono the egret, and together, they set out to keep their homeland safe and protect it from animals who do not respect the Circle of Life like [[Janja]] and his clan.

Starting in season 2, the Lion Guard's mission becomes harder when Kion's deceased great-uncle [[Scar]] returns as a fiery spirit and plans to destroy the Pride Lands. Scar forms an army consisted of animals from the Outlands. This eventually leads to an all-out battle between the Pridelanders and the Outlanders.

At the beginning of season 3, the Lion Guard have become teenagers and defeat Scar. They then leave the Pride Lands and travel out of Africa to get to the Tree of Life in Asia to cure Kion and Ono’s battle injuries. Kion's team also gets a new member, a martial eagle named Anga who replaces Ono's position as the keenest of sight after Ono temporarily loses his eyesight, while he gains a new position as the smartest.

Once reaching the Tree of Life, the Lion Guard assists in defending the haven from intruders together with the Night Pride, the group who protects the Tree of Life. After Kion and Ono are healed and their enemies are defeated, hyenas Jasiri and Janja come looking for them and alert them that [[Zira]] and her pride are back. The Lion Guard returns to the Pride Lands, only to find out that the conflict has already been settled. Zira's daughter, [[Vitani]], has formed her own Lion Guard in their absence, causing an argument between them and Kion's Lion Guard. However, after seeing Vitani's confidence in becoming a leader even without the Roar, Kion allows Vitani's Lion Guard to succeed his Guard as defenders of the Pride Lands. Kion and his friends return to the Tree of Life where Kion marries the Night Pride’s leader, Queen Rani, and is crowned King of the Tree of Life with his family and friends attending.

'''Equine''' is the collective name for species of the [[wikipedia:Genus|genus]] ''[[wikipedia:Equus_(genus)|Equus]]'', including [[horse]]s, [[Donkey (species)|donkey]]s, [[zebra]]s and their various [[hybrid]]s. A famous now extinct species was the [[quagga]].

== Systematics ==
'Equus' is the only surviving genus of the family ''[[wikipedia:Equidae|Equidae]]'', one of the families of the order ''[[wikipedia:Perissodactyla|Perissodactyla]]'', part of the superorder ''[[Ungulate]]''. The close relation between the species allows for [[Hybrid|interbreeding]], the result of which are [[wikipedia:mule|mule]]s, [[wikipedia:hinny|hinnies]], [[wikipedia:zorse|zorse]]s, and zonkeys, for example. These are usually sterile.

'''Horses''' are a very common species of animal in the real world. Domesticated horses play an important role in the [[human]] history. The adjective referring to horses is [[equine]].

==Physical characteristics==

Horses are large, heavy, [[hoof]]ed [[mammal]]s. They are [[herbivores]], and feed by grazing, commonly on grass.

Despite their large size and weight (up to 2500 pounds, or 1134 kg), horses are generally thought of as gentle creatures; however, their [[hoof|hooves]] can cause great damage by kicking or trampling.

The [[fur]] of a horse is mostly very short, forming an almost skintight covering, except on the head and back of the neck, which grows long into a formation called the [[fur|mane]]; and the tail, which is specialized in horses for protecting the rear from [[fly|flies]]: it has a bunch of long, very fine hairs which are swiped to disturb the flies. Horsetails are prized for their silk-like hairs.

==Terminology==

A [[male]] horse is called a '''stallion''', a [[female]] horse is called a '''mare''', and an offspring less than one year old a '''foal''' (male: '''colt''', female: '''filly''').

===Hybrids===

A '''mule''' is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. The much rarer successful mating of a male horse and a female donkey produces a '''hinny'''. The offspring of a zebra-horse cross is called a '''zorse''', '''zebroid''', '''horsebra''', '''zebrula''', or '''zebrule'''; "zebra mule" is an older term, but still used in some regions today. The foregoing terms generally refer to these hybrids. '''Hebra''' and '''zebret''' all refer to the cross of a female zebra with a male horse.

==Breeds==

The horse is largely a domestic animal and has been bred for centuries. The species which produced the horse no longer exists in the wild, although some wild horse species exist.

Horses have been selectively bred to enhance various qualities, enabling them to fulfill various roles in their work for humans. Draft horses are bred for power, and are thus large and heavy; show horses are bred for grace and beauty; racehorses, for speed.

== Horses and furry ==

In [[furry artwork]], [[Anthropomorphic|anthro]] horses are often represented with hooved hands - either as full hooves that are somehow able to manipulate objects, or as more humanoid hands with hooflike nails.

Rocket Raccoon

[[File:Rocketraccoon.png|right|thumb|200px|Rocket Raccoon.]]
'''Rocket Raccoon''' is a fictional [[character]], a superhero who appears in [[comic book]]s published by [[Wikipedia:Marvel Comics|Marvel Comics]]. Created by writer [[Wikipedia:Bill Mantlo|Bill Mantlo]] and [[artist]] [[Wikipedia:Keith Giffen|Keith Giffen]], the character first appeared in ''[[Wikipedia:Marvel Preview|Marvel Preview]]'' #7 (Summer 1976). He is an intelligent, [[anthropomorphic]] [[raccoon]], who is an expert marksman and master tactician. He is also a Halfworlder, a species of genetically and artificially-engineered of anthropomorphic animals created by being given experiments on Halfworld.

Rocket Raccoon appeared as a prominent member in the 2008 relaunch of the superhero team [[Wikipedia:Guardians of the Galaxy (2008 team)|Guardians of the Galaxy]]. The character has appeared in several media adaptations as a member of that team, including animated television series, toys, and [[video game]]s. He also appears in the 2014 live-action adaptation [[Wikipedia:Guardians of the Galaxy (film)|of the comic of the same name]], where he was performed and voiced by [[Wikipedia:Bradley Cooper|Bradley Cooper]].

==Publication history==
The character was created by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen and consciously inspired by the classic [[Wikipedia:the Beatles|Beatles]] song "Rocky Raccoon"<ref name="CBRArticle">[http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2007/06/12/365-reasons-to-love-comics-163/ "Reasons to Love Comics #163"] by Bill Reed on Comic Book Resources. Retrieved May 4, 2013</ref> which included a reference to "[[Wikipedia:Gideons International|Gideon's Bible]]" (in the comic book limited series it was a book that contained the sum of all knowledge on the "loony colony").

Rocket Raccoon first appeared in ''Marvel Preview'' #7 (Summer 1976), in the back-up feature ''The Sword in the Star''.<ref>[http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/earthswordinthestar.htm "Earth - Sword in the Star"] in the Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe. In 1985, he received his own four-issue [[Wikipedia:Rocket Raccoon (limited series)|limited series]] (in an afterword to the first issue, Mantlo himself asserted that this was the same character seen in ''Preview''), penciled by [[Wikipedia:Mike Mignola|Mike Mignola]] and inked by [[Wikipedia:Al Gordon (comics)|Al Gordon]] with [[Wikipedia:Al Milgrom|Al Milgrom]]. Rocket appeared in a 1990 issue of ''[[Wikipedia:Quasar (Wendell Vaughn)|Quasar]]'' (#15); he later appeared in three issues of ''[[Wikipedia:She-Hulk|She-Hulk]]'' in 1992 (#44-46) as a prisoner on a Skrull ship.

During [[Wikipedia:Peter David|Peter David]]'s run on the ''Hulk'' series, Hulk went into space and David addressed reader requests for Rocket's reappearance by implying that he had been killed by the aliens known as the Troyjans, who had a pelt mounted on the wall that looked like Rocket's.<ref name="Hulk413-416">''The Incredible Hulk'' #413-16 ("The Troyjan War"), 1994, Marvel Comics, writer Peter David</ref>

Rocket Raccoon was seen again in 2007's ''[[Wikipedia:Annihilation: Conquest|Annihilation: Conquest]]'' and ''Annihilation: Conquest - Star-Lord'' limited series,<ref>[http://web.archive.org/web/20070330005815/http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/003641508.cfm "GETTING EXCLUSIVE AT MARVEL’S CUP O’ JOE"] on WizardUniverse.com (archived on archive.org). He remained a regular member of the series cast until it was canceled with #25 in 2010, also appearing in the follow-up limited series ''[[Wikipedia:The Thanos Imperative|The Thanos Imperative]]''. Along with fellow Guardian Groot, Rocket starred in backup features in ''[[Wikipedia:Annihilators|Annihilators]]'' #1-4 (Mar-Jun 2011) and ''Annihilators: Earthfall'' #1-4 (Sept-Dec 2011).

Rocket Raccoon, along with the other members of the Guardians, appeared in issues #4-8 of ''[[Wikipedia:Avengers Assemble (comics)|Avengers Assemble]]'',<ref name="AvengersAssemble">[http://whatculture.com/film/marvel-teasing-guardians-of-the-galaxy-as-next-movie.php "Marvel Teasing Guardians of the Galaxy As Next Movie?"] - article on WhatCulture! by Robert Beames. Rocket Raccoon acts as the "Guardian of the Keystone Quadrant", an area of outer space sealed off from the rest of the cosmos by the so-called Galacian Wall. Rocket is captain of the starship ''Rack 'n' Ruin'', and he and his first mate Wal Russ (a talking walrus) come from the planet Halfworld, in the Keystone Quadrant, an abandoned colony for the mentally ill where the animal companions were genetically manipulated to grant them human level intelligence and bipedal body construction for many to become caretakers of the inmates. Rocket was Halfworld's chief law officer ("ranger") who protected the colony against various threats.<ref name="Hulk271">"Rocket Raccoon!" in ''The Incredible Hulk'' issue 271 (May 1982, Marvel Comics). The crises that Rocket half-remembered had been caused by the psychic supervillain the Star Thief, who had been admitted as an inmate and used his psychic powers to turn the inhabitants against each other. Rocket had turned the warders into a biological "key" to keep Star-Thief locked up, and deliberately altered his mind and left Halfworld so it could never be opened - but he was tricked into returning by the Thief, whose mind had escaped into the asylum after his host body died.<ref name="Annihilators3">"Wraithfire" in ''Annihilators'' issue 3 (July 2011, Marvel Comics) Writer Dan Abnett, cowriter Andy Lanning, penciller Tan Eng Huat, inker Victor Olazaba</ref>

==Powers and abilities==
Rocket Raccoon possesses the normal attributes of an Earth raccoon, including speed (which has been additionally amplified by his training) an acute sense of smell, sight, hearing and touch. He is an accomplished starship pilot, an excellent marksman with the two laser pistols he carries as well as having an affinity for heavy weapons. He is also an excellent military tactician and leader, attributes that help him take charge of the Guardians of the Galaxy when Starlord is unavailable.
