Thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus) also known as the Tasmanian tiger or the Tasmanian wolf, is a large carnivorous marsupial native to Australia. They are now extinct due to hunting, habitat loss, disease, and English settlements and the last individual died at the Hobart Zoo in 1936.

Thylacines look similar to dogs, but with a long, stiff, kangaroo-like tail. They are golden-brown in color with dark stripes along their back and tail (providing the "tiger" nickname). Being a marsupial, thylacines also have a pouch.
