The Panda, full Giant Panda or Panda bear (Ailuropoda melanoleuca), is a mammal of the bear family (Ursidae), that is native to central China's mountainous regions, like Sichuan and Tibet.

Overview
Easily recognizable through its large, distinctive black patches on the eyes, ears, and on its rotund body, the panda is considered a "vulnerable" species, with an estimated 1800-2060 pandas living in the wild, according to a 2018 census.

Despite being taxonomically a carnivore, their diet is overwhelmingly herbivorous. The panda eats shoots and leaves, living almost entirely on bamboo. Pandas are also omnivores, as they are known to eat eggs and some insects along with their bamboo diet. These are necessary sources of protein.

For many decades the precise taxonomic classification of the panda was under debate as both the giant panda and the distantly related red panda share characteristics of both bears and raccoons. However, genetic testing has revealed that giant pandas are true bears and part of the Ursidae family, though it differentiated earlier in history than most ursines and could be considered a living fossil. Its closest extant relative is the Andean bear.

The giant panda has an unusual paw, with a "thumb" and five fingers; the "thumb" is actually a modified wrist bone. The giant panda has a short tail, approximately 15 cm long.

Orca (species)

The killer whale (Orcinus orca), also called by some by the Latin word orca, is the largest member of the dolphin family Delphinadae. Their coloration is a striking pattern of black and white: they are black except on their undersides, a large white patch above each eye, a white swoop from their belly to the middle of their sides, white underside on their tail flukes, and a pale grey "saddle patch" behind the dorsal fin.

The name "Orca" was derived from the Latin name orcinus orca, which was assigned to the species at a time when the species was considered a menace and a danger to man, and was often shot by fishermen. Orcinus orca, loosely translated, means a kind of whale of or belonging to the realms of the dead, but some have stated the translation to be closer to devil whale. Researchers seldom use the term Orca and some have even been reported to have corrected people from using the name due to its origin.

In the area around Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, studies of the killer whale populations began in 1973. These studies include the important technique of photo-identifying individual whales by means of distinctive physical characteristics of the animal's dorsal fin and saddle patch area such as an oddly-shaped dorsal fin, markings or scars (Ford et al, 29-30). Current understanding is of three distinct populations: residents, transients, and offshores, which have different ranges, typical behaviour, and to some extent physical characteristics.

Worgen

2601:18D:4701:F00:551F:EE6F:BD26:B6C5: /* Overview */

The Worgen are a race of werewolves from the MMORPG World of Warcraft.

Overview
Worgen became playable characters inworld on December 7, 2010, with the release of the Cataclysm expansion. Playable Worgen are natives of the until-recently isolated nation of Gilneas who were infected by a form of lycanthropy caused by an ancient druidic curse (called the worgen curse, the curse of the worgen, or simply, the Curse) that can be passed to humans and night elves.

They are now members of the Alliance. When out of combat, Worgen can switch between human and anthropomorphic wolf forms. As with the werewolf, they do not have tails. Worgens not only have yellow eyes, but can also come in other colors such as blue. The males are more muscular than the females and have four fingers and three toes with dewclaws.

History
Pre-Cataclysm, Worgen were monsters hostile to both the Alliance and the Horde. They were believed to come from a horrible parallel dimension. Worgens were summoned on several occasions to fight invaders, but in all instances, they managed to break free of control. By transmitting the "Worgen's curse" via bite they were able to greatly expand their numbers.

The human nation of Gilneas was self-isolated from the world by a giant wall, but they had no protection from the Worgen plague. By the time of the Cataclysm, most citizens of Gilneas were infected by the curse. A special treatment allowed them to retain their human personality and to shapechange into human form.

When the Cataclysm struck, Gilneas became vulnerable to the Forsaken's attack. The undead were relentless in their search for the Scythe of Elune, the artifact that Gilneas swore to protect. Soon the nation had to evacuate from their ancient homelands to Night Elves' hospitality. Elves revealed that the Worgen descended from ancient Elven druids who followed the way of the Wolf. The wolf-druids became too close to the bestial side and had to be contained in the Emerald Dream, a mystical parallel dimension.

Did you know?: Worgen directly reference the furry fandom in one of their in-game jokes (played after entering the /silly command): "Are you into... furries??".

Rhinoceros

Rhinoceros (Greek rhino- for nose and keras for horn), full rhinoceroses, also known as just rhinos, are any one of five living species from the family Rhinocerotidae (including the White, Black, Javan, Indian, and Sumatran rhinoceroses), found in Africa, southern Asia, and Indonesia. They are in the same order of animals as horses and tapirs.

Overview
Rhinoceros are most widely recognized for the one or two large horns (depending on the species) found on the tip of their noses. These horns are used for defense and are made of keratin, the same material that composes hair and nails. Unlike true horns, they lack a bony core and grow back if broken or cut off.

Due to the poaching of these horns by humans for the purpose of decoration and an ingredient for traditional medicine, all species of rhinoceros are considered at risk for extinction, with one species classified as near threatened and one vulnerable, with the black, Javan, and Sumatran rhinos critically endangered. The northern rhino subspecies was functionally extinct on March 19, 2018, after the last male, Sudan died, and there are only two known rhinos of this subspecies left, named Najin and Fatu.

Rhinoceros in mainstream culture/religion
Rhinos are found on such mainstream comic strips as Storyline of Kevin and Kell, Européen Chateau, Pluggers, and Endtown, as well as in the television show Street Sharks.

* Lord Rataxes (Babar)
* Rocksteady (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
* Neff (Disney's Wreck-It Ralph)

Rhinos and furry
Rhinos are one of the rare mammals found in the furry fandom. Due to their large stature, thick skin, and horns, rhinos are often portrayed as powerful, buff characters, and are rarely portrayed as females.
