Rocket Raccoon is a fictional character, a superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Keith Giffen, the character first appeared in Marvel Preview #7 (Summer 1976). He is an intelligent, anthropomorphic raccoon, who is an expert marksman and master tactician. His name and aspects of his character are a nod to The Beatles' 1968 song "Rocky Raccoon". He is also a Halfworlder, a species of cybernetically, genetically and artificially-engineered anthropomorphic animals created by being given experiments on Halfworld.

Rocket Raccoon appeared as a prominent member in the 2008 relaunch of the superhero team Guardians of the Galaxy. The character has appeared in several media adaptations as a member of that team, including animated television series, toys, and video games. He also appears in the 2014 live-action adaptation of the comic of the same name, where he was performed and voiced by Bradley Cooper, with motion capture provided by Sean Gunn. Rocket will return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023).

Publication history
The character was created by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen and consciously inspired by the classic Beatles song "Rocky Raccoon" which included a reference to "Gideon's Bible" (in the comic book limited series it was a book that contained the sum of all knowledge on the "loony colony").

Rocket Raccoon first appeared in Marvel Preview #7 (Summer 1976), in the back-up feature The Sword in the Star. He subsequently appeared in The Incredible Hulk #271 (May 1982). In 1985, he received his own four-issue limited series (in an afterword to the first issue, Mantlo himself asserted that this was the same character seen in Preview), penciled by Mike Mignola and inked by Al Gordon with Al Milgrom. Rocket appeared in a 1990 issue of Quasar (#15); he later appeared in three issues of She-Hulk in 1992 (#44-46) as a prisoner on a Skrull ship.

During Peter David's run on the Hulk series, Hulk went into space and David addressed reader requests for Rocket's reappearance by implying that he had been killed by the aliens known as the Troyjans, who had a pelt mounted on the wall that looked like Rocket's.

Rocket Raccoon was seen again in 2007's Annihilation: Conquest and Annihilation: Conquest - Star-Lord limited series,

Powers and abilities
Spider-Ham (real name Peter Porker), is an anthropomorphic pig character who is the funny animal parody version of Marvel Comics' popular Spider-Man character. He was created by Larry Hama, Tom DeFalco and Mark Armstrong.

His first appearance was in the 1983 one-shot humor comic book Marvel Tails Starring Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham #1, which was then followed by an ongoing bimonthly series, Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. The series lasted 17 issues, all of which were published under Marvel's Star Comics imprint. The character primarily exists on Earth-8311, which was a universe populated by other anthropomorphic animal parody versions of Marvel superheroes and supervillains.

Publication history
Spider-Ham was first featured as star of the 1983 humorous one-shot Marvel Tails, with a backup cast of other anthropomorphic talking-animal parody versions of popular Marvel superheroes, such as Captain Americat (a cat version of Captain America), Hulk-Bunny (a rabbit version of Hulk) and Goose Rider (a goose version of Ghost Rider).

Two years later, a solo series, titled Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham debuted under Marvel's Star Comics imprint. The series, published bi-monthly, lasted seventeen issues before its cancellation in 1987. With the cancellation of Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham, the character became a backup feature in Marvel Tales, a monthly reprint series showcasing Spider-Man's past adventures. Beginning with issue #201 (cover dated July 1987), these new Spider-Ham stories appeared in issues #201–212, 214–219, 223–230, 233, 236, 237, 239, 240, and 247 before ceasing altogether.

In issue #3 of What The--?! (cover dated October 1988), Porker meets with Raven the Hunter (a parody of Spider-Man's nemesis Kraven the Hunter) in a story that satirized the popular "Kraven's Last Hunt" storyline which had been featured a year earlier in Marvel's Spider-Man titles. Spider-Ham also makes appearances in issues #18, 20, 22, and 24 of What The--?! The 26th issue of What The--?! (cover dated fall 1993) features "Spider-Ham 15.88", a humorous take-off on Peter Parker's future counterpart, Miguel O'Hara a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099. The "15.88" is not seen as a year, but rather a humorous take on the price of a ham (the cover states that it was marked down from the original price of $20.99).

Spider-Ham has also appeared on the cover of Wha...Huh? #1, and was referred to as a fictional character in the Earth-616 Marvel Universe, in Generation X #52.

Fictional character biography
Spider-Ham was born a spider (simply named Peter). He resided in the basement lab of May Porker, a slightly goofy animal scientist who had created "the world's first atomic powered hairdryer", hoping that "the introduction of nuclear fusion into America's beauty salons" would "revolutionize the hair care industry". After dousing her head with water and activating the dryer, May Porker accidentally irradiated herself, and in a fit of delusion, bit Peter, who then found himself transformed into an anthropomorphic swine much like May Porker herself. Running from the Porker homestead disoriented, Peter soon came to realize that he still retained a spider's abilities:

<blockquote>"This is astounding! Am I a spider with the limitations of a pig? Or a pig with the proportionate strength and agility of a spider? I've become something greater than either spider or pig... I've become a Spider-Ham!" – Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham #15 (May 1987)</blockquote>

After this startling series of events, Peter (who adopted the surname "Porker", that of his benefactor May Porker, who after the accident mentally attuned to a state in which she believed she was Peter's loving aunt) dedicated himself and his new-found abilities to fighting injustice and the occasional animal parody of established Marvel Comics villains. May Porker's scientific genius was transferred to Peter, giving him the know-how to devise his webspinner gauntlets to replace his lost natural ability.

Spider-Ham begins to fight injustice and the occasional funny animal villain parodied of existing Marvel villains, such as Ducktor Doom, often alongside funny animal versions of Marvel heroes, such as Captain Americat and Hulk-Bunny. Another one of his enemies includes Pork Grind, who is an animal version of Venom whom he also fights among others that are also animal versions of Marvel villains.

Comic issues
The Spider-Ham series also included back up strips featuring such characters as Deerdevil (Daredevil), Goose Rider (Ghost Rider) and the Fantastic Fur (the Fantastic Four).

Some of these back-ups were contradictory, presenting different anthropomorphic versions of characters in different stories, such as two Namor counterparts: the Sub-Merchandizer (a dog) and the Sub-Marsupial (possibly an opossum).

However, the Asinine Torch (a donkey) that appeared in a story with the Sub-Marsupial and the Fantastic Fur's Simian Torch are not two variants of the Fantastic Four's Human Torch; since he was depicted as elderly in the 1980s, and referred to as an "old sparring partner" of the Sub-Marsupial's, he was obviously a counterpart to the Golden Age Human Torch.

Back into the mainstream
The character faded into cult status, alongside other funny animal super-heroes, such as DC's Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew. Until recently, the Marvel crew decided to give Spider-Ham another chance.

Returning triumphantly in 2005 by popular demand in a poll in variant cover art for Amazing Spider-Man #528 by artists Mike Wieringo and Karl Kesel, Spider-Man Family #1 featured a sixteen-page Spider-Girl story, in which May Parker (Peter Parker's daughter) watches a DVD showing a small portion of a fictional Spider-Ham animated series, discovering that it was created by one of Spider-Man's enemies, Jack O'Lantern. Also in the issue, there was a reprint of Marvel Tails #1.

Spider-Ham was selected by fans and retailers to be the focus of the final variant cover by Mike Wieringo to the Spider-Man: The Other crossover, Amazing Spider-Man #528.

Finally, after a nearly 20 year hiatus of Spider-Ham stories, in January 2007, J. Michael Straczynski authored the Ultimate Civil War Spider-Ham one-shot, featuring Spider-Ham's attempt to find his missing "thought balloons" against a Civil War parody.

Tom Defalco returned to Spider-Ham's world in 2009, in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man Family #4–5. He introduces Swiney-Girl, the daughter of Spider-Ham and counterpart of Defalco's other creation Spider-Girl. Once again, the story strays away from the established, albeit loose, continuity of the original Spider-Ham stories by altering the character's origin and supporting characters, most notably in establishing Peter Porker as a natural-born pig bitten by a radioactive spider (directly mirroring Spider-Man's origin) and altering his love interest (a counterpart of Mary Jane Watson) from a water buffalo to a crane.

He fights alongside the X-Babies in issue #4 (March 2010) of their four-issue miniseries from 2009–2010.

To mark the anniversary of Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham #1, Marvel released the Spider-Ham 25th Anniversary Special in July 2010, with Tom Defalco writing both Spider-Ham and Swiney-Girl stories. These stories feature most of Spider-Ham's original cast and origin, but incorporates the Mary Crane Watsow character from Amazing Spider-Man Family rather than her original counterpart.

In the 2019 comic, Amazing Spider-Man: Full Circle, Spider-Ham, along with Bombastic Bag-Ham and his symbiote suit are also featured.

In 2022, a graphic novel was published called Spider-Ham: Hollywood May-Ham. The book features Spider-Ham and Mary Jane Waterbuffalo to make a documentary about his status as a superhero with Alfred Peacock (a parody of Alfred Hitchcock). After noticing mysterious happenings on set, he realizes Peacock is actually Mysteriape and attempts to defeat him and the Swinester Six.

Television
* In the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Ham appears in two different forms.
** In the fifth episode "Flight of the Iron Spider", Spider-Ham makes a cameo appearance as one of the universes Spider-Man and Living Laser were transported in.
** In the season one episode "Run Pig Run", Loki disguises himself as as hot dog vendor to give Spider-Man an enchanted hot dog that turns him into an anthropomorphic pig resembling Spider-Ham on the day of Asgardsreia, a holiday where Asgardians go on a day long hunt which ends at sundown, as payback for foiling a previous scheme of his. With the help of Thor, Phil Coulson, Nick Fury, and his fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. trainees, "Spider-Ham" evades the Executioner and his Asgardian hunters until he turns back to normal at the end.
** Spider-Ham proper later appears in the multi-part episodes in seasons three and four, voiced by Benjamin Diskin. This version of Peter Porker was a pig who got his powers from a spider that fell into his Aunt May's vitamin pancake batter and transferred said vitamins and powers to him, turning him into Spider-Ham. He used his powers for good and even joined his world's Avengers, but J. Jonah Jackal turned the public against him and forced him to quit. In the episode "The Spider-Verse" Pt. 2, Spider-Man encounters him while he is relaxing on his farm. With his encouragement, Porker decides to become Spider-Ham once again and help him fight the Green Goblin. Following the battle, Iron-Mouse, who is Iron Man's animal counterpart, offers Spider-Ham a spot on the Avengers again, which he accepts. In "The Spider-Verse" Pt. 4, Spider-Ham joins forces with a group of alternate reality Spider-Men to help Spider-Man defeat the Spider-Goblin and Electro. In "Return to the Spider-Verse" Pt. 1, Spider-Ham ends up in Peter Parker's living room due to the effects of the shattered Siege Perilous. In "Return to the Spider-Verse" Pt. 4, Spider-Ham is captured by Wolf Spider, who seeks to drain all of his multiversal counterparts' life forces, before Spider-Man defeats Wolf Spider.

Film
* Spider-Ham appears in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, voiced by John Mulaney. This version follows similar cartoon animal behavior as seen in cartoons from the golden age of American animation and bears a resemblance to Porky Pig from the Looney Tunes franchise. Additionally, Spider-Ham's origin remains the same and he seems to be aware of the fact that anthropomorphic animals are not common in other universes. He arrives in Miles Morales' universe along with Spider-Man Noir and Peni Parker due to the Kingpin's machinations before teaming up with them, Morales, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Woman to get back to their respective home universes; using his unique skill set to fight off the Kingpin's henchmen along the way. Before returning home to his own universe, he leaves his cartoon mallet with Morales as a keepsake.
** Spider-Ham appears in the prequel short Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham, which is part of the home release of that film, with Mulaney reprising his role. When he is about to enjoy a hot dog, he gets kidnapped by Doctor Crawdaddy. He battles and defeats him in his typical cartoonish fashion until an interdimensional portal appears and affects him and his surroundings in a manner similar to the Looney Tunes short Duck Amuck before whisking him away, leading into his appearance in the film when he gets sucked into it and his hot dog pops out of it.
** Mulaney had also expressed interest in a potential film starring Spider-Ham, describing its plot as a Watergate-like story along the lines of The Post or All the President's Men while focusing on the character's career as a reporter.
* Mulaney returned to voice Spider-Ham in the animated short film Back on the Air, which was created to promote the character's appearance in the video game Marvel Contest of Champions.

* Spider-Ham appears as a support card in the "Heroes vs. Heralds" mode in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Regarding article exclusion (removal) from Wikifur
* Please consult the Wikifur's page about "article exclusion" first.
* The request must be made by the article's user, with some exceptions (next of kin, lawyer/barrister, etc...).
* The exclusion will delete the ability for others to edit it any further, plus a protection layer is added by Wikifur's curators so is no longer searchable on such sites such as Google.
* NOTE: Removal of personal information is normally not the same as exclusion, and it can be done without needing curator assistance.
* The request can be made in a myriad of ways (Email, Zoom/Skype, Twitter, Facebook, IRC, Fur Affinity's DM/Discord, etc...).

If you are trying to contact me specifically about an exclusion, please send me a DM via Twitter at "Spirou on Wikifur".

Nyinxie
The WikiFur page Nyinxie has been deleted on 22 September 2021 by Spirou, see https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Nyinxie.

Editor's summary: Not ready for prime time article. What does this mean? i don't understand - Nyinxie

:Hallo. As it was (a couple of links and request to expand the stub), the article was not ready for inclusion yet (see a full article like Splash Fusky as an example). If you still working on it, is best to build it on your user page, then copy/paste as an article when is ready to be published.

Hi;

I've already posted this request in GreenReaper's talk page and emailed him but I haven't received any feedback, yet. I apologize if I'm acting impatient.

Request: Source citations
Heyo Spirou, thanks for all your patience and help with my page so far.

I have some sources you can use for my WikiFur page, which I've put in the Talk page of my article.

I don't know how to add citations but if you can add an example I can just copy and paste stuff myself, which is entirely how I wrote the original article.

Here's a link to my blog where I reference my immigration, which you can add as a citation for my immigration under "early life" and change "at the age of 16" to "under the age of 18".

Thanks for everything,

Etrius WhiteTigerOfTheWest

Issues with citation templates
Hey Spirou, I'm curious as to your comment on this revision where you mention that the reference templates I've been working on lately were "bombing" Safari. I also use Safari as my main browser and haven't encountered issues. Are you able to provide more info on what's causing problems, or what affect it seems to be having? Thanks! 12:31, 23 February 2022 (EST)
:Saving on preview causes the page to lock, and eventually crash. Does not happen on (Apple-approved) Chrome or Edge (could be a Safari extension issue, maybe Grammarly). first page with this type of reference edit use instead of the ones we have been using since day one, is there a reason for using this type now?. If this is GreenReaper approved, no prob, but syntax that may cause a possible crash could be an issue (if extension related, could be a pain if I have to switch them off to just edit an article) - Spirou (talk) 14:51, 23 February 2022 (EST)
::My assumption would be that it would be extension related if it's not happening in other browsers. Nothing too weird in the syntax either, it's pretty much the same as what Wikipedia were using before they transitioned all their major templates over to Lua (which WikiFur doesn't support).
::I started updating and using citation templates (most already existed, just hadn't been used or updated for several years) to try and bring some consistency to citations. I personally find it easier to assemble them if there's a template with specific parameters and formats to use, and it of course removes some human error from the equation. Most other wiki projects I contribute to also use such templates, so WikiFur either lacking equivalents, or those equivalents being so massively out of step, was pretty jarring for me. They're not something I'm pushing to be a standard on WikiFur, but they're a tool I personally find useful. 15:15, 23 February 2022 (EST)

Block
Good evening,

I created the account GrantGraywolf about 7 hours ago. I can see why you blocked me, since I didn’t contribute anything and made no edits to my user page. My email address and IP are both blocked as well, so I’m sending this from my phone.

My intent was to edit the page for Longhorn Furs and create an article for its successor org, Longhorn Furries. I’m smack in the middle of finals season so I didn’t get to this right away. I’ve also read through WikiFur:About and understand wiki policy.

I would like to kindly request my block be lifted. If you need any sort of verification, I can happily send it. If the ban is permanent, I’ll also understand.

I apologize if I’ve made any mistakes, and I wish you well.

Thank you,
Grant

Edits
Hello!

I recently added some characters from SpongeBob to the Fish page as anthro characters. I was wondering why my edits were gone, then I saw the comment to go with it. This is my first time editing mind you but here are some links to the wikis where I found what their names are:
https://spongebob.fandom.com/wiki/Incidental_40
https://spongebob-new-fanon.fandom.com/wiki/Nat_Peterson
https://spongebob.fandom.com/wiki/Sandals

If they aren't major enough characters to add, I understand that though.
Cheers!

Feesh

:Except for Mrs. Puff on Sponge Bob Squarepants, we don't include incidental characters as it would quickly overtake the article. (+Spirou's User Talk page vandalized)... Hmmmnopers. But still, changing your ban from Permaban (gross misconduct overral) to six days from now (so, New Years' Eve 2022), to give you a chance and time to think about this rationally. - Spirou (talk) 22:11, 25 December 2022 (EST)

::::Fine I’ll think rationally…let’s crunch the numbers generously….I apologize for my incomcideracies….I’m just tired of having my work entirely destroyed…..cyber bullying is a thing you know?…honestly that was my first article in years….after my Wikipedia project went dark….I created. the information based on my own life…some people don’t get that….I’m an artist and a gamer…I have a fursona my nmed hiena qns i play Minecraft for a living….why erase an hour of contemplation without reasonable guidelines to brush up on the errors?.q…understood?….good….bye….guidelines are heavily requested…..goodbye - Thaddeus wolf

:::::(*Facepalm*). Oookay, using another account to circumvent the ban you should be in? (...disregard this time only once). Alright, again, as stated elsewhere, your "work" was not destroyed, it is still on your account's talk page (here).

:::::You created a "Create-n-Forget" (more than 24/48 hours with no further edits after the first creation time) article for Hiena Frappe, which you then left bareboned and incomplete. In the past, these types of articles were actually deleted, but now, if there is a minimum of data now, they are moved to the original creator's Talk Page (in your case, again, here), which it gives the original editor time to flesh out the article until is ready to post on the main page.

:::::That said, if I can understand your above response, I hope this is for another (human) user, which is fine. But if it is for your fursona only, nope. Unless the fursona is notable, fursona articles must remain inside a user's main article (your article). - Spirou (talk) 10:06, 28 December 2022 (EST)

Can a human write anything…yes…machines run on pre defined instructions….so get off your ass and so help me god…editors…noteworthy?…is this your game board…it’s not!…it’s a public domain and anyone can upload, whatever they feel necessary…and btw to all of you…don’t call me a machine….asshole btw you belong in the bottom of a cracker jack box - Thaddeus wolf

Request Page Removal
Hello! Could I please have the page https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Roman_Otter removed? I have also send a DM on Twitter with the same name. Thanks! Happy New Year!

Request for Spider-Ham page update
Back in 2022 last year, I added other forms of media Spider-Ham has appeared in. But even though it is said that Sub-Marsupial is an opossum, it is unknown what kind this character is so I added that this character is possibly one.

Clarify policy about infoboxes
Hello Spirou, recently you reverted an edit of mine where I added Template:Infobox person to an article, with the following reason given: -Peson infobox. Imfoboxes are used on special article only (notability, death, others), sry. I am confused about this, since the person whom the article is about is deceased and should therefore qualify. I am also confused about where this policy is found as I have not encountered it before. I have reviewed WikiFur:Policies and guidelines and I do not see any restrictions on where person infoboxes (which in my opinion, are simply a formatting tool) can be used. Can you please clarify where this policy is listed? I also request that you edit the Usage section of Template:Infobox person to include the policy there so that future editors can be aware of it. Thank you

:The policy is known among curators and long-time editors, as to why it has not been added to the "WikiFur:Policies and guidelines", is a matter of time and effort, as in it is another thing among hundreds of edits to be taken care off. - Spirou (talk) 10:48, 4 February 2023 (EST)

Please delete my wikifur page
I requested it deleted around 2018 sometime, right after I made it.

Yes I put a lot of work into the page, but I'd rather not be all stalked on the internet.

Also DMd on twitter.

Stop blocking T-Mobile IP addresses.
I don't expect you to understand the technical intricacies here, but the large majority of people who are blocked/banned are using mobile devices to make edits. This makes it difficult for anyone using T-Mobile Home Internet, such as myself, to actually use the website. Mobile IP addresses are random. Due to the nature of how cellular access (?) works, it is technologically impossible to assign a static IP address to anyone using a mobile device like a phone or tablet. Even some mobile workstations (laptops) have WWAN cards that also include cellular data connections. I had to *manually* change my IP address 10+ times to get one that wasn't blocked, which involves waiting 5 minutes for my router to restart. Mobile phones make ban evasion incredibly easy. Stop blocking IPs and just force some pages (like mine) so that only registered users can edit them. I am a fearless, loud, vocal, offensive asshole with fearless, loud, vocal, offensive opinions and that upsets a lot of people, hence the repeated vandalisms on my page. Many imageboard websites running booru forks do this as well, making it impossible to upload or comment. I understand that this is technically frustrating for everyone involved, but websites like this need better (aka modern) ways to identify and quickly deal with abuse. Gone are the days of static IPs being assigned to home internet. Even normal ISPs like Comcast and Verizon are starting to randomize IP addresses for user privacy. If you want to discuss an actual solution to the problem, you or someone who works on site backend can contact me at my registered email address.- WhiteTigerOfTheWest

Vandal articles
There are three articles that all seem to be a variation of the Kirru. All three have the same information and should be deleted. There are Kirrus, Kirridae and Kirrini. Tai 1 (talk) 19:29, 30 March 2023 (EDT)

About my page
I am a furry artist and specialise in Menophilia, Urophilia, and crossdressing art, just check my Furaffinity, I have come across others who have made nsfw involving menstruation fetish. Yes it is a thing, and yes it’s both furry and non-furry, you can also find things on pornhub and e621 involving menstruation fetish. I am nốt trying to vandalise, but provide info on this topic.—Lunarmoon21 (talk) 22:21, 3 April 2023 (EDT)

:It may be a thing, but is not furry common enough to start its own article; We don't want to start creating an article for every paraphilia there is in the world because some furries may be into a specific one, unless notable enough within the fandom, even if is connected to mainstream culture (i.e. vore, transformation, macro, etc). - Spirou (talk) 22:47, 3 April 2023 (EDT)

Article Deletion Request
Felidae fix
Can you fox Tom Cat on the Felidae article? I wanted it back the way it is.
