"Boofus is a furry who is married to Boofus."... Really?, this is the fifth article with this type of error... and, again, do NOT use Twitter, which has been superseded by X. Continous exact behavior could indicate ED style vandalism, so, don't. - Spirou (talk) 18:17, 8 October 2023 (EDT)

Edit fix
I fixed the CoyHuggins page just now.

Klaus Doberman

2023-10-08T20:25:24Z

2601:18D:4700:72A0:11EE:4F8D:6E7:99F5:

Wikify
copyedit
unref
Klaus Doberman is a furry artist from the United Kingdom, now currently living in Germany whose artwork is primarily non-morphic and erotic. His personal fursona is a Doberman Pinscher. He is best known for his furotic fan art of many movies and series, including:

* 101 Dalmatians
* All Dogs Go to Heaven
* Balto
* Bambi
* Brother Bear
* Lady and the Tramp
* Oliver & Company (especially the Doberman Pinscher characters Roscoe and DeSoto)
* Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
* The Fox and the Hound

Klaus reported having received a threatening cease and desist-type letter from the corporation owning Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and he quickly pulled all of his fan art furotica offline, posted several messages requesting it never be reposted nor redistributed anywhere, and gradually replaced them with more original and generic pieces, and a few lightly disguised fan art pieces.

Klaus described himself to Chibiabos as having been inspired by TOR and aspiring to match TOR's mastery for non-morphic furry art, then retire from making furry art.

As of 2023, he is now taking a break from the fandom, possibly indefinitely. However, he later returned.

Online art and disputed reappearances
Klaus announced in 2004 that he was moving that year to Dubai for a job, and would return after an unspecified amount of time. As part of the move, expressing concern over stringent anti-pornography laws in the United Arab Emirates, he requested all of his artwork (including his original and non-adult pieces) be taken offline. This included the archives of several furotic Yahoo! groups (especially those featuring his works based on characters from mainstream animated films) and Yiffstar.

Since that time, despite Klaus' posted and private requests prior to his disappearance, various furs have re-posted much of his art, especially the fan art pieces Klaus had pulled offline following the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron cease and desist notice on Yahoo! groups, fchan and other forums. A few brief re-surfacings purporting to be Klaus Dobermann have been made that other furs, claiming to be still in contact with Klaus, have accused as being unauthorized impersonations. Most of these brief, disputed reappearances used the klausdoberman Yahoo! account, which after the first "reappearance" was believed by some to have been hacked. This has not been confirmed, but despite word that Klaus has been working on new artwork while in the UAE (drawn, just not scanned in nor uploaded anywhere), none of the artwork uploaded to various Yahoo! groups under the klausdoberman Yahoo! account has been new (every piece had already been online in various archives prior to Klaus' move to Dubai), and much of it was fan art Klaus had originally pulled offline after the legal threat from the makers of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

A notable "reappearance" happened on Jul 15, 2006, when a person claiming to be Klaus posted a message on a yahoo group in German (I don't think Klaus speaks or writes in German) and claimed to be from East Germany and that the East German government had very strict internet laws. He was obviously fake seeing as East Germany ceased to exist in 1990, so East Germany and the "modern" internet never existed at the same time.

September — October 2006 return
In a Yahoo! group recreated after Klaus' original group (that was deleted and recreated seemingly by an impostor), AnimalCartoons, a member purporting to be Klaus Dobermann posted a message with the subject line of "ALL NEW NEVER SEEN BEFORE KLAUS ART!" on 24 September 2006, linking to a new group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Klausart/

The post contained a similar claim to a previous post claiming to be the "real Klaus" with new art but instead was just a re-upload of old Klaus art. This new group differs in that it does, indeed, have genuine new art that has not been seen before. While the coloring in some is primitive, the art is described as unfinished sketches at this point, and the line art appears reminiscent of Klaus' talent, style, and subject preferences.

Given there does appear to be new original art in Klaus' style, this reappearance seems to be genuine.

Shortly after the new group was opened with more than two dozen uploads in the first two days, an individual calling themselves "Richard Paine" posted to the group providing a link to an older archive of Klaus' art that included Klaus' erotic fan art of copyrighted characters. The Klaus Doberman who opened the group and uploaded the new, original art responded (after several Yahoo! group users pointed out the archive violated Klaus' requests prior to his original withdrawal from the Internet) that the archive, stamped with Klaus' e-mail and stamp dated 09/22/2005 for the archive (well within Klaus' apparent 2004-to-2006 disappearance), was fraudulently attributed to him. Included in the archive of Klaus' old art is fan art long forbidden by Klaus due to "cease and desist" legal threats made to Klaus by the intellectual property owners of the movies Klaus drew characters from, and in his debunking of the archive against having been uploaded by himself, Klaus re-iterated banishment of fan art he had drawn from being reposted anywhere.

No, this gallery has got nothing to do with me. I have been away since
September 2004, these were uploaded seemingly just shy of a year later
and I've not been back at any point until now and had access to
an uncensored Internet. As such, I could never have set this gallery up.

Also, I would certainly never have included any of the art I did
featuring that certain horse. I might draw him for myself, but after
my run-in, I'm never going to put them online.

I guess it was naive in many ways for me to assume people would not
stick my art in all sorts of places I wouldn't want it to be, but with
this newer stuff, I would hope people might think before doing so.
Then again, this is the Internet and there are som right fuck-ups out
there.

By the way, should anyone fancy colouring these new pics, please feel
free. I have to scan a few more pieces.

On 4 October 2006, however, Klaus had returned to Saudi Arabia and his incommunicado status. He did, this time, leave up his new art archive in the Yahoo! group.

Klaus had been visiting England and Los Angeles. He has updated his Fur Affinity and SoFurry pages during this time.

Werecat

Werecats, also written in a hyphenated form as were-cats, (lesser known as ailuranthropes), are feline therianthropic creatures of folklore, fantasy fiction, horror fiction and occultism that are generally described as shapeshifters who are similar to werewolves, except that they turn into creatures that are based on some species of feline instead of being based on a wolf.

Etymology
Ailuranthropy comes from the Greek root words ailouros meaning "cat", and anthropos, meaning "human" and refers to human/feline transformations, or to other beings that combine feline and human characteristics, or to other beings that combine feline and human characteristics. Its root word ailouros is also used in ailurophilia, the most common term for a deep love of cats.

Folklore
Werecat folklore is found on all continents except Antarctica and Australia and is generally based on wild felines native to the area.

Europe
European folklore usually depicts werecats who transform into domestic cats. Some European werecats became giant domestic cats. They are generally labeled witches, even though they may have just the one magical ability, of self-transformation.

Africa
African legends describe people who turn into lions or leopards. In the case of leopards, this is often because the creature is really a leopard god or goddess masquerading as human. When these gods mate with humans, offspring can be produced, and these children sometimes grow up to be shapeshifters; Those who do not transform may instead have other powers. In reference to werecats who turn into lions, their ability is often associated with royalty.

Such a being may have been a king or queen in a former life or maybe destined for leadership in this life. This quality of heroic warriorship can be seen in the lions of Tsavo, which were reputed to be kings in lion shape, attempting to repel the invading Europeans by stopping their railroad.

Asia
Mainland Asian werecats usually become tigers. In India, the weretiger is often a dangerous sorcerer, portrayed as a menace to livestock, who might at any time turn to man-eating. Chinese legends often describe weretigers as the victims of either heredity or vindictive ghost. Ancient teachings held that every race except the Han Chinese were really animals in disguise so there was nothing extraordinary about some of these false humans reverting to their true natures. Alternately, the ghosts of people who had been killed by tigers could become malevolent supernatural beings, devoting all their energy to making sure that tigers killed more humans. Some of these ghosts were responsible for transforming ordinary humans into man-eating weretigers. Also, in Japanese folklore there are creatures called bakeneko that are similar to kitsune (fox spirits) and tanuki (raccoon dogs).

In both Indonesia and Malaysia, we meet with another kind of were-tiger. The power of transformation is regarded as due to inheritance, to the use of spells, to fasting and will-power, to the use of charms, etc. Save when it is hungry or has just cause for revenge, it is not hostile to man; in fact, it is said to take its animal form only at night and to guard the plantations from wild pigs, exactly as the balams (magicians) of Yucatán were said to guard the maize fields in animal form. Variants of this belief assert that the shapeshifter does not recognize his friends unless they call him by name, or that he goes out as a mendicant and transforms himself to take vengeance on those who refuse him alms. Somewhat similar is the belief of the Khonds; for them the tiger is friendly, and he reserves his wrath for their enemies. A man is said to take the form of a tiger in order to wreak a just vengeance.

South America
South American werecats usually became jaguars. In some tribes, all shamans were thought to have the ability to become jaguars. There are also urban legends about jaguar shapeshifters lurking along highways in tales similar to the modern vanishing hitchhiker, and of their being assassins secretly employed by the government or organized crime.

North America
Present-day North American werecat legends are usually based on the European model, with domestic cats, either normal-sized or giant, being the favored shape. Cougars appear rarely, and jaguars only appear south of the American border. In what is now Mexico, Aztec folklore described jaguar people as being specially blessed by one of the gods, but modern Mexican folklore is more likely to attribute such transformation powers to the devil. American urban legends tell of encounters with feline bipeds; beings similar to the Bigfoot having cat heads, tails and paws. Feline bipeds are sometimes classified as part of cryptozoology, but more often they are interpreted as werecats.

Fiction
Werecats are increasingly featured in popular culture, although not as often as werewolves. Fictional werecats tend to be portrayed as less influenced by the lunar cycle than werewolves, and they appear in heroic roles slightly more often. In addition, the females seem to outnumber the males, which is the opposite of the tradition in werewolf fiction.

Films
* The movie Cat People was the most influential item of werecat fiction, about a real sex kitten who turns into a black panther. It was followed forty years later by Cat People, a remake in name only with a vastly changed storyline that now included two shapeshifters, brother and sister.
* The movie Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island consists of werecats that drain life forces to preserve their immortality.
* The film Night Watch featured a character named Tiger Cub who was a weretiger.
* The film Sleepwalkers portrayed hairless werecats as the basis for vampire legends.

Feline bipeds are sometimes classified as part of cryptozoology, but more often they are interpreted as werecats.. Feline therians do exist, though they do not necessarily classify their beliefs as religious or supernatural, nor do they necessarily believe in the possibility of physical transformation.
