U-18Chan, sometimes spelled as U-18chan, is a mature furry imageboard hosted in Europe.

Etymology
The name U18chan, which is often misinterpreted as "under eighteen", is actually derived from the WWI era German Imperial German Navy's U-boat submarine, the SM U-18.

The site is in no way affiliated with any of the ideologies depicted through their heavy use of ww2 imagery for their brand, as explicitly stated in their FAQ:

The 2024 logo redesign was an effort to distance themselves from extremist groups like the Furry Raiders and highly controversial people like Foxler which would wear similar logos.

Boards
The site boards are split into five categories: Furry Related, The Basement, General, Indices, and Misc.

The lounge board is a board for general chatting and random threads, while the discussion board is for discussions, debates, or arguments.

The most popular of the furry boards is Gay Furry Comics, with double the number of threads of any other site's board.cn

The Indices section simply links to the catalogs of the first five boards in Furry Related.

Mascot
U-18Chan's first mascot, a cat wearing a WWII German Schutzstaffel's (SS) uniform, was taken from the German imageboard Krautchan.

The site's current mascot, Valkyria, a sergal also sporting a SS uniform, was drawn by Yuuri and then named Valkyria through a competition held by Jay. Further drawings of Valkyria have been done by SpazzyKoneko including different versions for each holiday so far.

Every drawing of the current mascot is hosted in full resolution on Valkyrias special page.

Site issues
Software switch
Due to the limitations of Kusaba X, U-18Chan was forced to switch over to the more efficient ImageBoard4Free software, which was provided to U-18Chan by Infinitus of ib4f.com.

It successfully switched to ImageBoard4Free during the Summer of 2011,clearing up some of the bugs created during the switch.

With the departure of the sole coder, whowhen there has been no further progress on installing new/updated software.

2012
On or before July 8, 2016, the site's user access was limited to the main page, where it displayed the following message:

2016
On or before 2016 September 14, an online announcement (with an incorrect date of "24/09/12") was posted on the website that something had happened at the host site that U18 used, resulting in the loss of data. Leonfox wrote that U18chan:

2023
Toward the end of August 2023, the site experienced another issue with their host server that caused it to go down. After two weeks, the website featured a message stating:

Still, by November 2023, the site was non-functional due to an ID7 Error, clarify forcing users to use image hosting links.clarify

2024
The site was down as of January 3, 2024, due to internal user vandalismcn (see the 2024 Zalgo/FNaF's site defacement section).

2026
On January 18, 2026, the site appears to be offline with the site returning 522 errors (connection timed out). No official announcement has been declared on the site shutting down.

Miscellaneous
2012 April Fool's Day
On April 1, 2012, the site's main page had an upside-down announcement that read:

Obviously, the site had not moved to Australia, but the news post remained on the front page with the April 1st time stamp and upside-down text for the rest of the day.

2024 Zalgo/FNaF's site defacement
In January 2024, the site became non-functional after users posted walls of Zalgo text (Cursed text) on all boards using Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF) copypasta imagery.cn
