While officially founded in 2025, residents of El Furado have lived at the property as early as 2021. The building is owned by a Rabbi and his family, who live downstairs. The residents of El Furado have a strong relationship with the Rabbi built on trust, respect, and consideration.

== History ==

* April 2021 - The future El Furado is first discovered by Slava when searching for a room to rent. Slava moved in. While unable to afford more than one room at the time, the potential was noted.
* January 2022 - Slava and Jaxxie become friends. Talks of starting a furry house ensue but reach a dead end.
* June 2022 - Kate the Rat becomes friends with Slava and Jaxxie.
* November 2023 - Slava moves into a more prominent place, and Jaxxie rents his old room.
* October 2024 - Kate the Rat becomes unhoused. Slava and Jaxxie negotiate rent for Kate to move into the house.
* April 1, 2025 - Slava and Jaxxie enter a multi-year lease agreement for the second floor. Kate agrees to sub-let from the pair. Slava brings his [[dog]], '''Mochi''' (a [[W:Pomeranian dog|Pomeranian]]) in.

== About ==

There are four bedrooms, which are divided as follows:
* Kate the Rat has her bedroom.
* Slava and Jaxxie sleep in the same bedroom.
* A third bedroom is [[W:soundproof|soundproof]]ed, used by the residents and their partners for [[Adult|adult play]], and is frequently disinfected (El Furado is strictly an adults-only [21+] zone).
* The fourth bedroom is smaller and used as a [[computer room]] and [[W:Bedroom|guest bedroom.]] This is also where Mochi's hideaway and toy chest are located.

El Furado also features ample dining and living spaces, a compact but well-laid-out kitchen, one bathroom, and two covered outdoor balconies. It is a [[W:Marijuana|420]]-friendly household, and people may consume [[W:Cannabis|cannabis]] indoors if they so choose.

There is a twenty-year age gap between El Furado's oldest and youngest residents, and Slava is the only resident who owns a motor vehicle.

The residents of El Furado are grown children and suffer from intermittent depression often enough to need a chores list, and all are transplants to the area. Only one is native to the State of [[W:New York|New York]].

==Ammenities ==

El Furado is glad to entertain impromptu and prearranged visits from furries, whether visitors or locals. In order to maintain this policy, the household has set some rules. All visitors must be:

* Of fully privileged adult age, which is 21 in Albany County.
* Considerate of others and self-aware.
* Free of bigotry.
* Okay around dogs.
* Visitors of a temporary nature, with stays not to exceed five days.
* Appropriately hygienic.
* Unbothered by cannabis use.
* Willing to remove shoes upon entry

In addition, all visitors to El Furado must understand and accept that affirmative and continuing consent is the only consent that counts. Any visitor who disregards this will be reported to authorities.

== El Furado and furry ==

Slava is well-known for hosting [[Furry party|furry dinner parties]] and entertaining guests at his previous address, which he intends to continue at El Furado.

The residents of this furry house believe in practicing mutual aid within their community. ''Vyacheslav "Slava" I. Lisiy'' is a cross fox [[furry]] from [[W:Albany, New York|Albany, New York]] who has been involved in the fandom since 1996. He is known by the name "Slava" within the fandom as well in his general life.

==Furry Genesis==
Slava was born in 1984 and became obsessed with [[W:fox|Foxes]] at a very young age after seeing foxes in the wild. Repeat viewings of Robin Hood were an almost daily activity beginning at age three. At the age of twelve, Slava found the fandom via a [[W:Usenet_newsgroup|Usegroup]] dedicated to learning [[W:HTML|HTML]], where one of the users involved had posted art of their fox [[fursona]]. Furry art of foxes drew him in the moment he saw it, and the idea of creating his own fox character sealed the deal for good. His one and only fursona was created in 1996.

==Fandom Activity==
Slava was a full-time lurker on Wereforums until making contributions that assisted in the creation of the now-popular theta-delta symbol used by many [[therian]]s. He was later responsible for several higher-quality, more inclusive versions of the theta-delta symbol, including the Integrated Theta Delta.

Slava has operated in a mostly quiet fashion during his decades in the furry fandom. Although mostly unknown, he has operated multiple private trusts which had the aim of distributing funds to furries in need of assistance with medical bills and moving expenses, as well as other necessities and harm-reducing measures. Despite decades in the furry fandom, Slava has never owned a [[fursuit]]. In 2025, Slava founded the [[El Furado]] [[furry house]] along with [[Jaxxie]] and [[Kate the Rat]].
