== Premise ==

'''Montimer''' is a [[bat]]. He is a [[carnivore]] and a [[predator]]. '''Larry''' is a [[mouse]], and he is nothing but [[prey]]. One day running through the forest, Larry is trapped by Montimer and is forced to raise a baby mouse in exchange for not taking her place as Montimer's dinner. But is this bat telling the truth? Who is he?. Maybe he's just an angel.

The comic as a whole takes place in what looks like a nuclear winter since there has never been a strip portraying it in a warmer climate (yet) and humans have somehow gone extinct.

== Characters ==

* '''Montimer''' - a blue male bat and the main character of the comic. Unlike his species, he hates eating mice, in part because he befriended one as a pup who needed help. Unfortunately this branded him a freak by his species and even his own father wasn't very pleasant toward him, and after his father killed his friend, Monti became protective of mice in general, rescuing them from his own kind even if the mice themselves don't express gratitude or even acknowledge his existence, one being Larry, which he rescued twice before they became a thing. His mother was an omega bat (a separate race) and was killed by a bird of prey, and he assumed his brother was too, though his brother turned out to be alive, and they reunited at the human house, although the relationship is rocky at most. After finding Ron and taking her in, he forcibly recruited Larry to play daddy, and they ended up falling in love, solidifying it in the mouse-borrow. A wolf tore his right wing after he saved Vincent the fox from the human house and, as such, was rendered flightless for a while, until getting a prosthetic wing of sorts more recently.
* '''Larry''' - a male mouse and one of the two main characters. He was saved twice by Montimer but was forcibly recruited to play the role of Ron's parent. Though naturally fearful of Monti at first, even while cooperative, they end up bonding and even become married. As a child, Larry lost his parents to an [[owl]] (and felt responsible for it) and had been living with his grandmother as a result, though like Monti, Larry didn't have the best childhood, and had left the borough at one point. He also healed Maurice at Jack's request and, as such, gained two more allies (and fellow gays) as friends.
*Ronnie (Ron) - a young female lab mouse. She was originally from a human-lab, but she and her mother broke out. Unfortunately, because the wilderness is so punishing compared to the lab, Ron was abandoned by her mother in the snow. She was thankfully found by Monti and taken in by him, but she needed Larry to care for her. She hasn't forgotten her real parents, but she prefers not to think about them, viewing Larry, Montimer, and Richie as her real family now. She even got Monti to open up more to others, and had nicknamed him "angel", and was never afraid of him at all.
*Richard (Richie) - a young male dark-brown bat with a deformed right wing. As a result, his parents abandoned him, not even bothering to give him a name, and by chance he wandered into Monti and Larry's house, where they reluctantly took him in. He does find his parents at the human-house, but after hearing their rejection of him, was heartbroken, but it made him more caring toward Monti and Larry (the latter giving him his name too), and becoming a brother of sorts to Ron.
*Ronnie (other mouse) - a young female brown mouse. Monti befriended her when he found her stuck in a hole, though initially hid his species from her at first to avoid scaring her. After freeing her she does find out he's a bat, but was so grateful that she wasn't completely bothered by it and she became the only friend Monti ever had. Tragically, Montimer's father later killed her, though kept her pelt, which Monti later brought to the human-house and burned it, and named the lab mouse Ronnie after her.
*Deborah - a female [[squirrel]] who resided in the human-house. Later becomes a firm ally of Monti and Larry. After the house was destroyed by the wolf-raid, she joined Larry and Monti's ever growing group of interesting characters. She apparently had a relationship with another kind of animal once, and even became pregnant from it, though sadly she seemed to have suffered a miscarriage. She also seems to have a crush on the doctor mouse Noah, though he turned her down.
*Noah - a male adult lab mouse. He was the only lab mouse living in the human-house. After Monti was wounded in another one of his mouse-rescues, Deborah brought Noah to treat the bat, and he wasn't afraid to do so despite the species. He was also surprised to see Ronnie with them, having assumed he was the last of his kind until meeting her. Much later, when Ronnie suddenly fell ill and brought to him, he treated her as well, but caught the disease inflicting her. Luckily he is cured by Larry with the medicine from the lab mouse's home.
*Mardoqueo - Montimer's father. He was an alpha of the bat colony, but fell in love with a female omega-bat named Grace, which is taboo among his race, and at some point his wife was killed by a bird of prey. He did however have two sons: Montimer and Oliver, though tragically the latter all but disappeared, causing a strain in his relationship with the former. He killed Monti's only friend Ronnie, was known to subject Monti to cold-baths, and more recently kidnapped his son, held him prisoner and forced him to eat meat since their species are supposed to. Despite his cruelty he clearly cared about both sons as he was hopeful Oliver was still alive and went looking for him frequently, and was right, though was horrified to see Monti was injured and remorseful, and after the reunion he at some point died offscreen. He was often seen wearing a feather-cloak made from the bird that killed his wife.
*Oliver - Montimer's long-lost brother with the omega-colors. He disappeared after their mother was killed, and while Monti assumed him dead, their father was hopeful and kept looking for him. Turns out Oliver had been living with a rat, but said rat was rather cruel to him. He debuted with the bats at the human-house, and helped the residing wolves raid the place. Upon attempting to attack a mouse, he is foiled by Monti, starting a fight between them where Oliver almost cannibalized on Monti, but chose to leave him alive. Even so Monti went searching for him, where Oliver had been squabbling with other bats, which infuriated Monti so much that he killed the one responsible for Oliver's beating. They then got taken prisoners by the wolves, and Oliver wasn't all that happy to see Monti. After they escaped with help from the fox Vincent, he reunites with Mardoqueo. He went looking for Monti after their father dies, but was furious at his brother for missing the funeral and clawed him and Larry, and was baffled that Monti would reject their father's position. He still has some anger issues to work out due to his past, but got some help from Marcus.
*Vincent - a male [[fox]]. He was initially aligned with the wolves at the human-house, but defected to help Monti and Larry, having never been on good grounds with the wolves anyway (he was basically a slave, and they killed his son). Was later rescued by a wolf named Jasper, though like with Larry to Montimer, Vincent was wary of the wolf, but they later bond and become a thing.
*Jack - a bright-brown male bat. Like Monti he is gay and has a relationship with another bat named Maurice, although this was taboo among bats. He helped the wolves trash the human-house, but fled after the wolves betrayed the bats. After that he kidnapped Larry out of desperation to find help for an injured Maurice, and promised to let the mouse go if he cooperated, which he did. As such they became firm friends with Larry, however they also have some (bad) history with Montimer, having bullied him for being half-omega and coincidentally happened to be some of the bats Monti saved Larry from. Monti eventually sees them as friends though. He later admitted his gayness to his mother, but his siblings overheard and turned him in to the alphas, but really Jack turned out to be half-alpha and was beaten up because of it, though was thankfully saved by Maurice and Monti. One day when they visited a city, they were attacked by the resident bats, and Jack was captured. The mob's leader attempted to claim him as his own mate, but Jack snapped and killed the leader. After reuniting with Maurice and later the rest of the gang, Jack becomes a surrogate father to the abandoned bat pup Maurice found, but is left traumatized by his captivity.
*Maurice - a dark-brown male bat. Like Monti he is gay and has a relationship with another bat named Jack, although this was taboo among bats. He helped the wolves trash the human-house, but fled after the wolves betrayed the bats, though Maurice was injured in the process, but was helped by Larry and as such they became loyal to him, however they also have some (bad) history with Montimer, having bullied him for being half-omega and coincidentally happened to be some of the bats Monti saved Larry from. Monti eventually sees them as friends though. It was later revealed Maurice was an orphan. One day when they visited a city, they were attacked by the resident bats, though Maurice escaped, and later found an abandoned newborn bat in the alleyways, which he and Jack adopt.
*Grace - Montimer and Oliver's mother, she and Mardoqueo hooked up after he saved her from a more aggressive male, but due to alphas and omegas being forbidden from dating each other, they were forced to move out to be happy. Tragically though she was eaten by a bird of prey, and while Mardoqueo avenged her, he and his sons began drifting apart as a result of her death.
*Jasper - a male [[wolf]]. He found Vincent alone in the snow and near-freezing, but took him in, and in a parallel to Larry and Montimer, Vincent was afraid of him, but grew attached and they become a couple themselves. Like Monti Jasper defied the norm of wolves, refusing to hunt live animals, which got him branded as an outcast among his pack, and he eventually deserted. Despite this the pack tracked him down and brought him back by force, then began to beat him up until Vincent saved him.
*Lucas - a male albino bat. He saved Larry from an owl and tagged along with him and his friends ever since. As a child he was adopted by a wolf and taught about various human-made concoctions. Unfortunately his father was killed by the bad wolves who raided the human-house, forcing Lucas to burn the lab they lived in to lay his father to rest. He also burned the house in an attempt at revenge. He later revealed himself to be asexual, meaning he had no interest in the same or opposite sex.
*Paco - a non-anthropomorphic [[snail]] that was out in the snow for some reason, but was found by Ronnie and given to Richard as a pet.
*Melquicedec - Montimer and Oliver's paternal grandfather. Much like Mardoqueo, Melquicedec was a harsh father and one of the reasons his son left the bat colony to be with Grace, something Melquicedec later regretted. He doesn't however, have anything against Monti or how he lives, even coming to his aid when the current alpha bats threatened to kill his grandson, and supported his relationship with Larry. He also got his grandson his own ship as a mobile-home. After his friends found Marcus, Melquicedec was beginning to feel unwell, and he believed he was nearing the end of his lifespan.
*Marcus - a male blue-tailed mouse like Larry. He lives in the abandoned human-city and works as a doctor. One day he was kidnapped by two thuggish rats for ransom, but upon realizing that was pointless, beat him up, tied him up and set him adrift in a boat down a river away from the city. Luckily he was encountered by Monti's gang and taken in, where he returned the favor by healing Melquicedec and agreed to tutor Lucas. He also made a prosthetic wing for Montimer and Richie. Tragically, he was stripped of his job and kicked out of the city. As a child, he was abandoned by his mother the second he was born, and had spent his childhood in an orphanage. Is now dating a rat named Ravi.
*Ravi - a male adult brown [[rat]] who's gay himself. He has romantic interest in Marcus, and upon hearing he was kidnapped went to rescue him, but upon finding out that he was assumed dead, took his anger out on the kidnappers, killing one of them. He later moved out of the city to avoid persecution and luckily found Marcus was alive and well. He then gave Maurice some parenting-advice and began having feelings for Marcus. He even invited the latter on a picnic, though it went awry when Marcus disappeared for two days after falling into a hole, and Ravi ended up joining him, where they become a thing before being rescued.
*Abel - a male young rat who is Ravi's little brother.
*Harry - a male infant bat from the city. He was abandoned upon birth, but was found by Maurice and taken in by him and Jack.
