Georgey Horsey

2007-04-27T05:11:36Z

24.21.77.23: Deleted Category 1987 Deaths; although published sporadically, Georgey has appeared in the additional publications since then

Georgey Horsey was a talking cartoon horse created by cartoonist Jeffrey H. Wood. He starred in a short series of four digest-size fanzines with "many many" contributors, published from 1983-1987 by Pseudo Comics (Seattle, WA). The initial print run was estimated at twenty copies, but multiple reprints and revisions followed.

Georgey was set in moderately "real" settings, such as pastures and barns, but was often embroiled in strange adventures (aliens invading the planet, evil rock stars turning the neighborhood children into rock 'n roll zombies, road races with snooty anthropomorphic import sports cars).

Georgey's owner was Elena, a teenage country girl, and his best friend was MetalHorse, a robotic pony created by a local gadgetmonger.

The original inspiration for the character was derived from a stuffed animal belonging to the artist's younger sister, and later the character was featured in a series of teaching aides for a 4th grade classroom.

According to the author, "Georgey Horsey was my first attempt at a graphic continuity (comics-style) story. Hopefully, the reader will note some improvement in my style since that time."

The character was originally named George the Horse, but was renamed to avoid confusion with Arn Saba's Neil the Horse.

Joshua Quagmire

24.21.77.23: /* External links */

Joshua Quagmire (nee Richard Lester) is a greymuzzle furry artist, best known for his character, Cutey Bunny. Alternatively known as QT Bunny, he self-published a number of comics with her and various supporting characters, dating back to the early 1980's. He also appeared in several early issues of Huzzah, and Critters #1.

Quagmire, who lives in Hollywood, maintains a Cutey Bunny website, but otherwise has mostly vanished from view.

Controversy
Many old-timers in the furry fandom are aware of Joshua's insistence that some artists are infringing on his copyright and trademark property. In particular, he maintains that cartoonist Jeff Wood stole his Cutey Bunny character to create SnowBuni. Wood denies the charges, citing ancestry in anime fandom, and a substantial publishing history behind his own character. The matter has never been litigated.

Dean Dodrill

Dean Dodrill (a.k.a. Noogy by many of his friends) is a professional animation artist. He lives in Colorado, and is married to Elizabeth, since early-September 2000.

Dean's dream of becoming an animator all started back during his time of junior-high/high school, when he was much inspired by the Foxglove bat-character, from one episode of Disney's Chip'N'Dale's Rescue Rangers series. He not only began drawing up fan art of Foxglove, but then he slowly began to create his own characters, such as Leddinger, a flying squirrel dude, and his much beloved pride-and-joy Bonnie, an attractive mouse-girl, who's created after his own blood-heritage as half-Korean. Together, these characters were developed in various film-shorts, such as Living On A Prayer.

The characters were initially created as short-bodied rodents. Since then, Dean has very much evolved his characters to have larger, more human-like anatomy. During this time he landed a short-lived job at Jagged Edge Studios in conjunction with EpicMegaGames, where he did animation for the Jazz Jackrabbit video games. Then when it came to doing Jazz Jackrabbit 2: The Secret Files, he created Lori Jackrabbit, a yellow athletic femme-jackrabbit, being Jazz and Spaz's sister. Though those characters live on through fans, Epic ended up failing to balance their books and were forced to lay off Dean.

Shortly afterward, Dean would get his well-deserved break at slowly starting to animate his dream-film, Elysian Tail (originally titled Elysium Tail), with Elizabeth and himself producing, directing, animating, and voicing the featured characters Bonnie, Leddinger, and Tika. Many of their fans/friends are impressed by the entire concept of animating this film, not to mention how heroic the characters ought to be.

As Dean continues to tackle Elysian Tail, he has withdrawn from online activities. He plans an online comeback once his current projects are completed.

Hi there Jhwood - thanks for your contributions to Joshua Quagmire, and welcome to WikiFur! Let me know on my user talk page if you need any help not already provided. :-) --GreenReaper 03:00, 11 Oct 2005 (UTC)

test test Hmmm, this interface is a lot different than the forum software than I'm used to. --jhw

:Well, this is really just a perversion of the main editing functions in order to make a useful way to talk to other contributors. Not perfect, but it works! Oh, and you can sign your name with three ~ marks, or four if you want the date and time, as so: --GreenReaper 04:09, 11 Oct 2005 (UTC)

The "jhwood9" page should probably auto-link to the existing "Jeffrey H Wood" page, since the content would be identical.
