[[File:Rain_Silves.jpg|right|thumb|General Rain with her armor]]
'''General Rain Silves''' is a female [[Sergal]] character, a creation of [[Mick39]].
Rain is the leader of the tribe of Northern Sergals, also known as the "Shigu Clan". The members of this tribe are distinguishable due to their long fur, cold colors, and facing eyes. (in comparison to other sergals, Southern, Eastern and so on.)

She is different from the average Sergal due to her mutation. She is much taller and has an eye color mutation which causes her eyes to have a golden pigment instead of grey or blue. She is known to wear ceramic armor into battle and wields what seems to be a double-bladed lance of some sort. She uses the blood of her enemies to paint the 'blood-trails' that originate from her eyes. The most interesting part of her anatomy is the [[Wikipedia:prehensile|prehensile]] clitoral hood as common anatomy of female sergals, which a lot of people mistake for a penis and think that Rain is a [[hermaphrodite]]; however, she is [[female]].

== History ==
[[Image:11662205221334736.jpg|right|thumb|141px|General Rain Silves]]
She is the main character of the series of stories Mick wrote about the world of Vilous, where she is the supreme commander of the Shigu clan. Throughout the storyline, Rain is shown as a cruel and cold creature, with a passion for bloodshed.
The author has confirmed this brutal General loves to eat living prey, especially other Sergal children due to her lopsided attachment that was caused by her trauma. In ''Old Canon'' novella, however despite her violent and cruel nature, Rain seems to have some sort of "friendship" with the Werefenle(Old Talyxian) named Zyn, as well as affection for the character of Calcatto Lucien, who is of indeterminate race(human). In ''New Age'' storyline, she spent a very bad childhood with much abuse by her mother and other people of her village, due to her mutation. Then she disappeared in the forest. And she was brought up by Zyn who is the Talyxian-Associator, wolf in Vilous. New Age's Zyn is completely feral, wildlife species unlike Old Age's. Hence Rain is able to be said as "wolf-girl", like the San from [[Wikipedia:Princesse_Mononoké|Princess Mononoké]].

In the internet, a whole of Sergals have often been considered and been misunderstood as same the Rain due to her popularity. But her characteristics and behavior confine to Rain and her vassals, not common feature of Sergals.

== The meme ==

It is unknown who first thought of the "Rain likes to rape" meme, but quickly Rain's popularity on [[4chan]] skyrocketed to match that of [[Pyramid Head]] (which she has also been depicted as raping). Her nightmarish appearance and the prehensile clit hood quickly caught the acceptance of the wider audience. A large amount of fan art followed, with themes ranging from 'tame' to outright parody, where we can see Rain dressed up as a nurse, a schoolgirl or even a tennis player.

Rain's position as a furry icon is getting stronger day by day, and it is possible that she may soon join the [[anthro]] Hall of Fame with other noticeable furry characters.

Some on [[7chan]] consider Rain the [[mascot]] of their furry board and like her image in an easily locatable thread as decoration.

'''Purple Pussy''' is a [[funny animal]] "''comic for girls''," and was created by [[Shmorky]] (nom de plume for artist Dave Kelly.)

== Premise ==
[[Image:Puss20040818-1.png|left|160px]]
The comic covered several of the time's social and political issues, as well as the personal things that happen in a women's day to day life, as told by a cast of (mostly) [[anthropomorphic]] [[female]] characters.

This offensive ensemble were well known for their foul language and and violent behaviour.

Many comments were made about Foxy being "a damn slut", some of the [[yiff|sexual favours]] between Betty and Purple, Roofie displaying a [[Wikipedia:Yeast infection|yeast infection]], and Shelly praying to God to kill everyone.

Religious figures are also poked at, such as [[Wikipedia:Jesus Christ|Jesus Christ]] being referred to as '''Jeebus Crow'''.

After a while, the comic diminished somewhat in crude humor and violence, and there were even a few notably touching moments{{fact}}.

== Cancellation ==

The demise of the comic started when many of the characters started to find their own separate ways. The first to leave was Foxy who left for [[Wikipedia:Florida|Florida]], calling it "The Penis of America".<ref>[http://www.purplepussy.net/d/20050606.html Foxy Fox leaving for Florida]</ref> Then Roofie got a TV show offer.<ref>[http://www.purplepussy.net/d/20050610.html Roofie joins Show Biz]</ref> Three days later we find out that Poopie is going to participate in the war.<ref>[http://www.purplepussy.net/d/20050613.html Poopie is off to war]</ref> The only two that are left are Purple and Betty. Deciding they had a good comic run, they go through a [[human]] [[transformation]] together,<ref>[http://www.purplepussy.net/d/20050615.html Purple and Betty's happy ending]</ref> and walk off into the sunset holding hands.

== The book yet to be ==

{{q|Hey kids, remember a long time ago (two years ago, actually!) when I said there would be a Purple Pussy book and it kept being delayed? Originally I was going to make Purple Pussy in book form all the time. You can now see how it all began. It's not pretty, and only funny sometimes. This comic is embarrassing and bad, but just think of it as seeing how far the comic has gone.'' - David Kelly}}

Purple became enraged in early January 2002 about a review from a major comic publisher, over not being able to distribute Purple Pussy because it did not meet their quality or specific requirements.<ref>[http://www.purplepussy.net/d/20020104.html Purplepussy.net and quality standards]</ref>

== Fandom involvement ==

James "Jim" Hardiman was a known [[furry fandom|fandom]] cartoonist and illustrator most active during the 1990s and early 2000s.<ref>[https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/alt.fan.furry/jim$20hardiman%7Csort:date/alt.fan.furry/IS0V4QRZdSo/ntlw7R-B4C0J ''The final favorite furry artist list''] post on [[alt.fan.furry]]. Retrieved September 17, 2014.</ref> He is best known for his ''[[Skunkworks]]'', ''[[Caterwaul Incorporated]]'' and ''[[The Ups and Downs]]'' [[comic]] series, and the creation of a trio of young [[skunk]] [[character]]s, [[Lori Parks]], [[Oynx]] and [[Skunkworks (characters)|Natasha]].

Jim often worked alongside fellow furry artists such as [[Shawntae Howard]], [[Max Black Rabbit]] and [[Desiree Lee]] (among others), in various personal and third party projects, such as [[A Study in Black and White]], [[AnthropoMORPHINE]] and [[In The Zone]], a 64-page comic book intended to cover the costs of [[W:Cancer (disease)|cancer]] treatment for [[Michael-Scott McMurry]] ('''Zonie'''). In 2010 he was approached by [[Jason Canty]] of ''[[Angry Viking Press]]'' to work on further Skunkworks and Caterwaul Inc. comic books and even some [[animation|animated shorts]] ideas.

Jim Hardiman's works and contributions were submitted for consideration for both the 2002<ref>[http://www.ursamajorawards.org/RL2002.htm ''James M. In 2012, Jim teamed up with ''Angry Viking Press'' to conduct a '''''Angry Viking Press: Moving into 2013 with new publishing''''' [[W:Kickstarter|Kickstarter]] campaign, offering ''[[The Collected Skunkworks]]'' TPB, [[commission]]s and [[W:Dakimakura|dakimakuras]] featuring a selection of Jim works as campaign perks.<ref>''[https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jasoncanty/angry-viking-press-going-forward-with-great-new-pu Angry Viking Press: Moving into 2013 with new publishing]'' - Post by [[Jason Canty]] on [[W:Kickstarter|Kickstarter]]. Posted October 4, 2012. Retrieved ?.</ref> Part of the goal was also to raise funds to publish a revised edition of the ''Skunkworks'' paperback, along with new Caterwaul Incorporated comics and the first [[Penance The Bear]] collected works book.

On May 31, 2015, 9 months after his death, Hardiman's mother, '''Pauline Hardiman''', announced that she and her family would scan all the media that Hardiman had promised Jason Canty for the ''The Collected Skunkworks'' project after a face to face meeting with Canty so it would finally be published.<ref>[https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jasoncanty/angry-viking-press-going-forward-with-great-new-pu/posts/1248825 ''An open Letter from Jim's Family to his Fans''] post by Pauline Hardiman on the ''Angry Viking Press''<nowiki>'</nowiki> [[W:Kickstarter|Kickstarter]] page. On August 31, 2015, just over a year since Jim's passing, Jason Canty announced on his Kickstarter that the Skunkworks book is finally done and will be sent out for printing. == Death ==

Jim Hardiman died on August 29, 2014 due to kidney failure. Jim was a double transplant patient. He was a diabetic since the age of three. At the age of thirty-five he was dying of kidney failure and was blessed to receive a donor kidney and pancreas so he was no longer a diabetic. === Comic series ===

* '''''Skunkworks''''' - ''Skunkworks'' features stories (often [[sexual]]) of three sassy young skunk girls, '''Lori Parks''', '''Oynx''' and '''Natasha'''. Some stories also feature their mother [[Valencia]] and the alter egos of Jim himself and Desiree Lee.
:Even with the [[adult]] nature of the series,, but with a dose of humor and wit. The girls are often shown as being exhibitionists, and their antics frequently get them into trouble, along with making life hell for Jim.
* '''''Caterwaul Incorporated''''' -
* '''''The Ups and Downs''''' -
* '''''Penance The Bear''''' - This series would have collected all published stories of Penance The Bear. It was one of the perks offered during ''Angry Viking Press''<nowiki>'</nowiki> 2013 '''''Angry Viking Press: Moving into 2013 with new publishing''''' Kickstarter campaign.

=== Webcomics ===

* ''[[Cats N' Cameras]]'' - Jim was the [[illustrator]] for Chapter 6 of the webcomic '''''Cats N' Cameras''''', contributing guest art afterwards.
* '''''By The Tail''''' - ''By The Tail'' was a collaborative webcomic between Hardiman and Desiree.

=== April Fools' art gags ===

* '''''Spunkworks''''' - On [[W:April Fools' Day|April Fools' Day]] 2008, skunked.com announced that due to changes in the [[furry fandom]] since Skunkworks was first published, the books would be rewritten to with new content to reflect such changes, initially with the introduction of four [[gay]] [[male]] characters, '''Vance''' and his three sons, '''Nathan''', '''Ollie''' and '''Larry'''.<ref>[http://www.skunked.com/ Main page of skunked.com]. Retrieved 2008 April 28.</ref> gay male counterparts of Val and her three girls.
* '''''Skankworks''''' - Another gag using the "change in the fandom" idea featured the three girls as [[W:Emo|emo]]/[[W:Goth|goth]] types on the fake cover of "Skankworks". These pictures were in fact, little jokes poking fun at such different aspects of the furry fandom, and, despite some opinions,{{fact}} they were not meant as malicious attacks on any one person or clique.
* '''''Cubworks''''' - Another gag bemoaning the state of the fandom concept featured the three girls as [[cub art]] characters types on the sugary cover of the aptly named "Cubworks". Hardiman himself kept an alternate account for cub art on [[Inkbunny]], a site known for being very cub-positive, under the name "Bulletsoup", where he claimed to be an anonymous artist whose style was inspired by James Hardiman.<ref>[https://inkbunny.net/Bulletsoup Bulletsoup account on Inkbunny]</ref>
* '''''Pumpworks''''' - This gag page tackles the [[W:Muscle|muscular]] and [[sex|sexual]] [[hyper]]sizing of [[character|furry characters]] on the fandom, depicting the girls with massive physiques and [[hyper-sexed|enlarged sexual parts]], or, as he puts it: "''Poorly rendered steroid freaks covered in fur.''"
* '''''Animeworks''''' - This gag page takes on the over-saturated [[anime]] influence on the fandom by depicting almost every Japanese [[manga]] cliche using the girls, plus bonus characters .
* '''''WTFworks''''' - No data

== Controversy ==

Jim Hardiman had said on several occasions{{cn}} that Radio Comix never paid him for any artwork submitted, nor did he received any of the financial aid derived from the ''Skunkworks Reflections'' tribute book:
{{q|I never saw a dime from that, nor did I receive anything from the graphic novel or the "Ups & Downs" comic. It's all water under the bridge at this point, however.{{cn}}}}
