NotFurNet, also known as NFN, is a small furry-oriented IRC network targeted towards those who prefer an environment somewhat different from either Anthrochat or Furnet.

History
April 2009
NotFurNet began with Fae'liin M'taali's personal IRC server that had been running since late 2008, which would later become naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com. Around June of 2009, Keyla started an IRCd on his personal server and linked it into the network as whiteforest.notfurnet.com. Early on it was primarily an invite-only network - it was difficult to find without being explicitly invited to it.

July 2009
The network became more open to the public around July of 2009. It was around this time that NotFurNet formed a partnership with FurSpace and frostedbutts.notfurnet.com (hosted on the same server as furspace.com) was linked into the network. Also around this time, wolf.notfurnet.com was brought online.

Early 2010
Due to connectivity issues with naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com, services were moved to wolf.notfurnet.com with the intent of moving back once the connection issues were resolved. However, the move has remained permanent so far as there have been no stability issues with services since.

Summer 2010
In mid-2010, caocao.notfurnet.com was added to the network. However, due to oper issues, the server was delinked a short while after it had been brought online, and should be considered indefinitely offline.

September 2010
In late September of 2010, wolf.notfurnet.com was upgraded from a 12Mbps DSL connection to an 18Mbps connection. Unfortunately due to bad wiring, this caused the network to suffer as many as 15 netsplits daily for approximately a week, as the DSL connection continuously dropped. As of October 2010, however, this issue is resolved.

Future Plans
Keyla will be bringing back a server of his own, hosted on basementcat.net, as basementcat.notfurnet.com. As of October 2010 there is no definite date that the server will be online.

Connection Options
* All servers are listening on the standard IRC port, 6667 - some servers may listen on additional ports as listed in their MOTDs.
* All servers have SSL/TLS support on port 6697, though the certificates are self-signed and are therefore reported as "invalid" by most IRC clients.
* Due to FreeBSD port of the UnrealIRCD having an IPv6-related bug, IPv6 connectivity is currently unavailable.

FurSpace is a social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, images, music and videos for the furry fandom community. It was created as a way for those in the furry fandom, or possibly new to the fandom, to have a personalized profile to display their creations and share their ideas; as well as meet and keep in touch with others in the fandom. FurSpace was opened on November 13, 2008 and has grown very quickly since then. On December 8, 2008 FurSpace reached 1,000 registered members, and as of April 2010 now has over 8,000.

History & Timeline
FurSpace was founded by Kisuka in November 2008, the website was created as a way for furries to meet and stay in touch. The domain name (FurSpace.com) was owned by Foxberance and was to be used as a community based project. Kisuka purchased the domain and started the furry social networking site, FurSpace.

On March 30, 2009 the Arcade section was released on FurSpace, this section of the website allows users to play flash games and submit their scores to a high score ladder. Users can also challenge other users to try and beat their high score.

On April 14, 2009 FurSpace released the beta version of their Literature feature. This feature allows users to post any forms of literature they have created. Users can search through the database of writings to view, rate, and comment them.

On July 17, 2009 FurSpace moved their whole website to a dedicated server due to their shared hosting provider disabling the website because it used double the amount of CPU allowed on shared hosting.

FurSpace remained somewhat unchanged for nearly a year; However, on April 12, 2010 FurSpace released its completely redesigned website, based on phpFox 2.0. This redesign brought a more modern and user friendly look and feel to the website. Some old FurSpace features such as the Arcade and Literature sections were not included in the initial release of the new design, however, these sections will be returning soon.
