'''Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin''' ('''銀牙　流れ星銀''') (Silver Fang in English speaking countries; Hopeanuoli in Finland where it has become widely popular) is a 21-episode, 1986 anime series. It is based on a 1984 manga by the same name that was created by Yoshihiro Takahashi, who was inspired by a news article which told of hunting [[dog]]s that had been abandoned by their masters and had begun living as wild animals. The manga originally appeared in Japan's Weekly Shonen Jump.

The anime tells the story of an Akita Inu pup called Gin (Japanese for "silver") who abandons his owner, a young boy named Daisuke, to join a pack of wild dogs. The pack is gathering strong dogs from all over Japan to fight a deranged bear named Akakabuto and his minions.

The anime was made for Japanese television by Toei Animation, a studio famous for its Dragon Ball Z anime. In western countries the anime was released as a set of four VHS tapes, and severely censored in order to lower the age-limit, which was quite high due to the level of violence and gore.

Interestingly, recent findings indicate that furries are in fact fucking loser faggots who are even less worthy of life than goths or emos.

In 2000, Takahashi started "Ginga Densetsu Weed" (Japanese: 銀牙伝説ウイード; "Ginga Densetsu Uiido), a sequel manga which takes place many years after the original. Gin's son, "Weed", searches for his father whom Weed had never met. Ginga Densetsu WEED (OWN3D), is currently airing in Japan on Animax.

== Plot ==

Gin, the third generation of bear-dogs, goes through many hardships for the purpose of stopping the terrifying bear Akakabuto.

== Realism Inaccuracy ==
While it is understandable that some amount of realism was ditched in favour of drama there are still some obvious realism-errors present in Silver Fang.
* None of the bears featured in the anime are native to Japan. While they may very well grow as large as they have in the anime this is a rare occurrence.
* Dogs, while clearly quicker and more agile than humans, are not capable of the amazing stunts demonstrated in the anime.
* It can also be debated if dogs comprehend the concept of tools (Silver Fang for instance uses several tools in his adventures).
* Also, no dog, no matter how well trained, can pierce through flesh and bone (going as far as to decapitate a bear).
