<!-- Sadly, people tend to want to vandalise this page. Please note that if you do, your changes will be reverted, most likely within a few minutes of doing so. If you have something to say about furry that isn't part of a definition of it, try the discussion page. :-) -->
So what is this furry thing, anyway?

That's a tricky question, because everyone has a different answer!

* Some people would say that a furry is a person in the furry fandom
* Still more equate it with a style of anthropomorphic artwork
* If you've stumbled across this website by accident, chances are you would think of a funny animal (although you probably wouldn't use that term)
* Others think that furry is a way of life
* Some believe in various forms of furry spirituality (and, just like mainstream religions, some are faking it)
* People who've just read the Vanity Fair article or watched CSI probably think that a furry is an overweight middle-aged guy with a bestiality fetish and a habit of dressing up in fursuits and getting it on with poor, defenceless plushies

Any of these definitions may be accurate, to some extent. It depends who's using it, and when.

What's your definition? Discuss!

There seems to be some dispute about the last sentence in the article. I think it's pretty obvious that it belongs, because it is almost universally accepted in the furry community. 199.77.211.66 16:10, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC) Tracks and a howl

A player is a person who creates a fursona in a multi-player world, such as a MUD, MUSH, or MOO. Players typically have the ability to communicate to one another through text messages, and they may perform a limited number of actions which may affect other players for the environment of the world.

The term player can also refer to one who routinely seeks others for casual sex. This is derived from the phrase that one who routinely does does this "playing the field", or moving between sexual partners in a indiscrete or rapid manner. This term may indicate a negative connotation, but not necessarily so.

It should also be noted that many furries consider themselves "playa hatas".
