Bears (adjective form: ursine) are a group of animals. According to Pounced.org, bears are the 14th most popular phenotype among furs.

Types of bears
There are over twenty species of bears, including:

*American black bear
*Asiatic black bear
*Brown bear
*Cave bear (fictitious species from Dungeons & Dragons)
*Florida cave bear
*Polar bear
*Sun bear
*Panda (which is considered a bear)
Bears in media
Bears are rather uncommon in modern culture, compared to their mythological importance.

In the roleplaying game game Werewolf: the Apocalypse, werebears (known as the Gurhal) were tasked with being Gaia's healers. However, they had been routed by the wolves as being 'too weak' in the shapeshifter war, almost to a bear.

In the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons, werebears also make an appearance. Notably, in a game were most other species of were are considered to be evil, werebears are the only race that is of good alignment by default.

In the movie Brother Bear, an Inuit boy (Kenai) must deal with transforming into the animal he hates the most -- a bear -- while simultaneously gaining an unwanted 'brother'.

And of course, we've all had a teddy bear somewhere down the line.
