FurJAM

2011-10-05T16:06:03Z

122.108.134.150:

FurJAM is a large furry gathering held once a year in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

FurJAM is an outdoor, socially interactive event based around city sightseeing, social networking, and having a great day (or two). The ideals of FurJAM are that it should not be restricted to a single location or venue, but be a roving occurrence, allowing people the freedom to come and go as they wish.

FurJAM maintains an official webpage, superseding the old webpage at furjam.com.au.

History
Started by Ana and Rubberfox in 2004, FurJAM initially saw 46 attendees during the all-day event, which included visits to Paddy's Markets, Darling Harbour, Rocks Markets, and dinner at Rubberfox's house. The venture began as a proof of concept that furries did actually exist in Sydney. This endeavor succeeded as otherwise hard-to-find furs were discovered.

The following year, in 2005, this number jumped to almost 70 attendees over the course of the day. However, there was no FurJAM held in 2006 due to a lack of interest in organising it.

2007
The 2007 FurJAM was held on the weekend of September 21st to 23rd, 2007.

After Flaydramon and Anakaine decided they did not have the time to plan FurJAM 07, it was postponed. After complaints from various furs about it being abandoned, AussieHusky took over the FurJAM Website and planning for the 2007 event.

On the 19th of August, links to the FurJAM website were placed on /b/ with the intention of flooding the forums and messing with the poll choices for event activities. Following this, the polls and forum were closed, leaving the site less interactive.

2008
FurJAM 2008 was held on the 26th to 28th of September.

AussieHusky had originally stated that he would not be organising FurJam 2008, as he had his own smaller events, but discontent over Alexander's apparent lack of action due to other commitments prompted AussieHusky to take control of the event.

2009
FurJam 2009 was held between the 25th and 27th of September.

AussieHusky started planning early and designed a much more advanced website for users to register, purchase merchandise, and edit their registration. However, technical difficulties forced the website to be temporarily taken down, causing many potential attendees to speculate that the meet had be canceled. Website functionality was restored on June 17th, but with the loss of all registration details. Nevertheless, FurJam 2009 resumed its normal dates.

The meet also suffered from disruption when an anonymous individual claiming to be AussieHusky changed the booking dates for several events just a week before FurJAM was set to go ahead. However, the sabotage attempt was quickly thwarted, with all venues restoring the bookings within 24 hours. FurJAM 2009 went ahead without further incident, excepting a minor physical altercation on Friday night between one of the attendees and a friend of Timon_b, who was seen at events on both Friday and Saturday despite being officially prohibited from attending the meet.

2010
FurJAM 2010 was held between September 24th - September 26, and organised by Ray Liehm, with many other furs and non-furs contributing both their time and assistance to ensure a smooth hassle-free event. The furmeet saw attendance of approximately 70-80 people, making it one of the largest FurJAM's yet. The weekend's event schedule included dinner & drinks at the Rose on Friday, a BBQ & Art Jam in Centennial Park on Saturday, followed by a room party in the evening featuring dancing, competitions and a stand-up comedy performance by Anthrax, with laser tag, a scavenger hunt and dinner at the Docks Hotel in Darling Harbour on Sunday completing the lineup. Only disruption was Timon_b attending and been refused entry during Furjam 2010 to the Eastern Suburbs Legion Club on the Saturday night following an earlier incident by RayLiehm

2011
FurJAM 2011, to be held over the weekend of October 7th - 9th, is being organised under the supervision of Bane Ranaura, Auri and Foxdale, with the assistance of previous FurJAM staff. The schedule of events planned for the 2011 meet builds upon the format set out in previous years, with a pub night, BBQ, dance party and scavenger hunt among the listed activities. One significant change is the new pub venue for Friday night, which has now moved to the Forresters Hotel in Surry Hills. Shirts for the meet are also being sold, and are available via the FurJAM website.

122.108.134.150:

Hello;

The paragraph in question refers to a non-furry related police incident that does not affect furry fandom in any way possible. Simpler: It's Mainstream, not furry, not Wikifur - Spirou 20:41, 3 October 2011 (EDT)

:The vehicle was pulled over cause the police know Timon, know he is a furry, and the vehicle was the one used for the Furry Enforcement Agency - Registered furry business, the police know of the FEA dislike the FEA and often conduct vehicle stops on the FEA vehicle. This major outcome to the FEA work vehicle is very much so, Furry Related. --122.108.134.150 02:41, 4 October 2011 (EDT) --122.108.134.150 07:27, 4 October 2011 (EDT)

::Did the pullover affect Furry fandom at all , no. Furries have been stopped in the past, even been present when one was asked to de-mask (fursuiter), and show ID. That wasn't a controversy, it did not affect fandom. A pull-over is not a controversy, even if he was a furry, or the Queen of England - Spirou 02:57, 4 October 2011 (EDT)

:::Pullover has affected the Furry Fandom as the FEA can no longer drive there patrol vehicle to furry events. --122.108.134.150 07:28, 4 October 2011 (EDT)

::::That's a "problem", not... a controversy. Yes, the car cannot be "showcased", Timon B is not impaired by this event, is he?. He can be attend furry events, the vehicle can't, not a controversy.

::::"Timon was pulled over by Police in his FEA Patrol Vehicle... The outcome of the search was one defect notice, 7 days to repair the defects.",... problem, not controversy. Repair vehicle, Timon can showcased it again at furry events, end of problem, nite - Spirou 08:38, 4 October 2011 (EDT)

Vehicle did not have real problems with it, it was cleared today after the 3rd try.. Police harassment.

Raifox is a furry from wollongong NSW that has been apart of the sydney furry fandom for around 2 years.

Raifox has spent some time with some infamouse furs in the past but is now trying to forget that past and get back into the fur community. Despite many attemps by a infamouse fur to try and ruin his reputation by making fake emails in his name on the ozfurmailing list he tends to shrug off things said about him with a laugh.
Raifoxes fursona is a fox part tiger thought up by many personal experiences in life,
Altho having spent 2 years in the fandom he has learnt that the fandom isnt all that it seems learning about all the stupid drama that happens in the fandom but pays no attention and trys to live
life in the furry fandom to the fullest despite not taking part in anything furry for awhile to let things blow over.

Timon b is a furry from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, whose fursona is a meerkat. Timon b has been a furry since the early 1990s, when he started high school. Timon b thinks of himself as a fur, but with beliefs leaning towards anti-fur. He is one of the founders of the Furry Enforcement Agency.

Timon b is into watersports, which he openly loves, and once was an op in #Watersports and #Ozfetishfurs on Furnet.fact He is is currently Founder of #Watersports, op of #nonanthro and an avid user of #Dirtyanimals, #AnythingGoes and %#Messplay on AnthroChat

Timon currently works for a Wildlife Organisation in Sydney and has been with them since 2003, holds a Cert II in Animal Care and Management and a Licence to rescue and foster native fauna, and more recently he has began work with a Traffic Control Company that covers Sydney and outer Sydney regions, his duties as an Authorized RTA Traffic Control Officer are to guard gates, ensure the safety of the public and workers on site and to conduct Point Duty where necessary.

Controversy
*Timon b is now unwelcome at some local furmeets and IRC channels.fact
*He is akilled on (IRC) for generally instigating fights and unrest, and, later, for trying to evading bans via proxy.fact
*As of October 2007, Timon b is banned from the Furstralia forums.fact
*Timon b was also banned from the OzFurry mailing list on 6 March 2008 for faking emails, both from a former housemate, Cloud, and the list's owner, Ch'marr.
*Timon has been banned from FurJAM 2007, FurJAM 2008, Furjam 2009, and was refused entry during Furjam 2010 to the Eastern Suburbs Legion Club on the Saturday night following an earlier incident by RayLiehmfact
*After an altercation with a supposed underage user, Inugami, on Furnet he was removed from the channel access list for attempting to remove Inugami for being underage; however, #watersports does not condone the assumption of one's age with no viable proof. He was then banned (and K-Lined a short time later) (A note from the founder of #Watersports of Furnet (and the one who edited this): See http://starczar.tzo.com:8088/main.php?view=watersports for the rules and regulations of the channel. The channel relies more on maturity than age, because "legal age" is, in and of itself, controversial.) With the reminder that Furnet server itself is 16+ as stated in the MOTD..
*Timon b had a restraining order taken out against him by Flaydramon, just before FurJAM 2007 to stop him from posting webpages threatening violence against Flaydramon, and to stop him from attending FurJAM 2007.fact After FurJam 2007, Timon b fought the restraining order in court, and won.fact
