Historically, many furries have used this website to post Animation Memes, Animated Music Videos, and art. The Scratch Team has featured these type of projects and many have made it into top loved/top remixed. There are also multiple studios dedicated to furry projects. Many of these studios are also dedicated to ending online [[Anti-furry]] hate comments.

Furry role models exist on the site as well, such as OmbraTheFurry2, a highly popular furry artist and animation meme creator. She has inspired many people in both the animation meme community and the furry community.

Unfortunately, the mix in age ranges leads to much unfiltered toxicity and hate speech on the site, with people "recoloring" art (taking someone else's art and just changing the colors) without credit, claiming others' code as their own, reposting, and a lot of theft accusations made by young children who don't know the difference between "art theft" and "gift art," or that two different peoples' art styles can look similar, but not be the same. However, the #SaveScratch movement has worked hard to stop this, and, for the most part, their efforts have succeeded.

Primagens are [[furry]] [[cyborg]]s which most notably have an electronic visor/display as a face. A Primagen's facial visor shows computer-generated eyes, nostrils, and a mouth which can all move and change shape in response to the character's emotions. === Overview ===

Created by a species of higher intelligence known only as the "Premogenitors" in a universe known as ZOR (Zenith's Outer Reach), Protogens, and later, Primagens, were created to explore space and perform necessary jobs (such as factory workers, construction workers, etc.) on the planet. Protogens were 40% artificial and 60% biological, whereas Primagens were 60% artificial and 40% biological. A Protogen's typical lifespan is around 500 years, but it can live longer than this if it continues to update its biological and artificial components and internal firmware and operating system.

=== Creation ===

Protogens and Primagens are grown in tank chambers that simulate the womb. Microcrystals were originally added to the first Protogens, in order to prevent Protogen rebellions. The growth process takes around 14 days. After growth is complete the Protogen or Primagen, still not "born" yet, is given its cybernetic enhancements, then placed in a med pod, where its biological and artificial components are able to meld together and the Protogen or Primagen is able to heal. After this process, the Protogen or Primagen is "born," or achieves consciousness, and is taken to a virtual reality chamber, where it is educated in how to use its body and trained for its designated task.

Premogenitors used to control Protogen and Primagen creation, but Protogen and Primagen creation is now held on E-11, the Protogen and Primagen home moon.

=== Occupations and roles ===

Protogens were created for space travel and exploration, as well as manual labor jobs on-planet. Many Protogens hold occupations such as scientists/researchers, pilots/machine operators, doctors/medical response personnel, security guards/officers, militia, factory workers, construction workers, programmers, or just manual laborers. While many space exploration Protogens are still exploring and researching, many of the on-planet Protogens were used as non-sentient slave labor. Basic Protogens had limited consciousness and could be "mind-controlled" by a Premogenitor at any time. As a result, Protogens who had fully completed a task were often disposed of like waste. No one really knew what happened to the disposed-of Protogens, until it was discovered that they had started forming a colony on a nearby moon.

=== DNA Splicing and Rebellion ===

DNA splicing was introduced for Protogen modification so that the Protogen could customize its appearance. Common Protogens usually have 40% or less spliced DNA, Uncommon Protogens usually have around 40%-50% spliced DNA, and Rare Protogens have 50% or more spliced DNA.

As the Premogenitors started adding these DNA-spliced traits to their Protogens, they noticed there was a higher chance of the Protogen rebelling if it had more spliced DNA. The cause of this was an overload of the microcrystal stored in the cerebral fluid. As the microcrystals were initially implanted to allow Premogenitors to "mind-control" disobedient Protogens, high amounts spliced DNA could overload this microcrystal. Features like extra limbs and wings also caused nanite disruptions and glitches in Protogens.

These rebellious Protogens started an uprising. Using the new Protogen colony moon as a sort-of base of operations, there was a small amount of conflict between these Protogens and the Premogenitors. The Premogenitors and Protogens/Primagens now live in a tense peace.

==== Protogens ====

Protogens typically have a slender, usually circular visor over their face, (shorter than the Primagen's) composed of nanites that can be reshaped to allow the Protogen to consume food. An electronic display on the visor displays the Protogen's face. On the visor is a fin, usually with a symbol on the attachment piece. They have biological ears, usually with one or two sets, and rarer ones having three or more. However, Protogens NEVER have mechanical ears, as this is a Primagen-only trait. Uncommon Protogens can also have attached hors, while Rare Protogens can have floating horns. Protogens also have the options for top-of-head or chest plate screens, but only rare Protogens can have both. They have a biological neck, usually furred, and a chest plate underneath the neck. Connected to the shoulders are the "plug-and-play" arms. Arms can be any combination of biological and artificial components. (Common and Uncommon Protogens have one set of arms, while Rare Protogens can have two or more sets) Underneath the chest plate is the biological stomach, the groin plate, the "plug-and-play" tail, and the "plug-and-play" legs. The stomach has a biological digestive tract, and nutrition digested here is split into two forms of energy: natural energy, to power the biological parts, and electrical energy, to power the artificial parts. (Rare cases of Protogens surviving on only Arcai energy or another form of power have been recorded, but are rare, and dangerous to the Protogen.) The groin plate is connected to the "plug-and-play" tail, which can have any combination of biological and artificial components. The legs have artificial thigh plates, usually with a glowing symbol near the top, and the lower leg can have any combination of biological and artificial components, as long as the leg does not resemble a raptor leg. (This is a Primagen-only feature.) (Common and Uncommon Protogens have one set of legs and one tail, while rare Protogens can have two or more sets of legs, and two or more tails.) Uncommon Protogens can also have features such as small wings that are either aesthetic only or glide assistants, as well as short-time use jetpacks. Rare Protogens can have fully functional and full-size wings or jetpacks. Rare Protogens can also have fine nanite control, allowing them to manipulate their nanites to grab objects or even create a nanite-only clone.

Primagens are similar to Protogens, with a few key differences. Their visors are longer and more angular, but have the same display and nanite features. They have two sets of mechanical ears, and are mostly artificial. They resemble raptors, not wolves. Their limbs also work on the same "plug-and-play" system as the Protogens. Their lower legs, however, are fully artificial and resemble raptor legs. Primagens are also usually a little bit taller than Protogens

While all Common and Uncommon traits are open to the public, rare traits must be acquired, via auctions, purchase, or other method. Anyone is allowed to make a Common or Uncommon Protogen, but no one can make a Rare Protogen without owning the Rare trait. == Design ==

Primagens are [[furry]] [[cyborg]]s which most notably have an electronic visor/display as a face. A Primagen's facial visor shows computer-generated eyes, nostrils, and a mouth which can all move and change shape in response to the character's emotions. Created by a species of higher intelligence known only as the "Premogenitors" in a universe known as ZOR (Zenith's Outer Reach), Protogens, and later, Primagens, were created to explore space and perform necessary jobs (such as factory workers, construction workers, etc.) on the planet. Protogens were 40% artificial and 60% biological, whereas Primagens were 60% artificial and 40% biological. A Protogen's typical lifespan is around 500 years, but it can live longer than this if it continues to update its biological and artificial components and internal firmware and operating system.

=== Creation ===

Protogens and Primagens are grown in tank chambers that simulate the womb. Microcrystals were originally added to the first Protogens, in order to prevent Protogen rebellions. The growth process takes around 14 days. After growth is complete the Protogen or Primagen, still not "born" yet, is given its cybernetic enhancements, then placed in a med pod, where its biological and artificial components are able to meld together and the Protogen or Primagen is able to heal. After this process, the Protogen or Primagen is "born," or achieves consciousness, and is taken to a virtual reality chamber, where it is educated in how to use its body and trained for its designated task.

Premogenitors used to control Protogen and Primagen creation, but Protogen and Primagen creation is now held on E-11, the Protogen and Primagen home moon.

=== Occupations and roles ===

Protogens were created for space travel and exploration, as well as manual labor jobs on-planet. Many Protogens hold occupations such as scientists/researchers, pilots/machine operators, doctors/medical response personnel, security guards/officers, militia, factory workers, construction workers, programmers, or just manual laborers. While many space exploration Protogens are still exploring and researching, many of the on-planet Protogens were used as non-sentient slave labor. Basic Protogens had limited consciousness and could be "mind-controlled" by a Premogenitor at any time. As a result, Protogens who had fully completed a task were often disposed of like waste. No one really knew what happened to the disposed-of Protogens, until it was discovered that they had started forming a colony on a nearby moon.

=== DNA Splicing and Rebellion ===

DNA splicing was introduced for Protogen modification so that the Protogen could customize its appearance. Common Protogens usually have 40% or less spliced DNA, Uncommon Protogens usually have around 40%-50% spliced DNA, and Rare Protogens have 50% or more spliced DNA.

As the Premogenitors started adding these DNA-spliced traits to their Protogens, they noticed there was a higher chance of the Protogen rebelling if it had more spliced DNA. The cause of this was an overload of the microcrystal stored in the cerebral fluid. As the microcrystals were initially implanted to allow Premogenitors to "mind-control" disobedient Protogens, high amounts spliced DNA could overload this microcrystal. Features like extra limbs and wings also caused nanite disruptions and glitches in Protogens.

These rebellious Protogens started an uprising. Using the new Protogen colony moon as a sort-of base of operations, there was a small amount of conflict between these Protogens and the Premogenitors. The Premogenitors and Protogens/Primagens now live in a tense peace.

Protogens typically have a slender, usually circular visor over their face, (shorter than the Primagen's) composed of nanites that can be reshaped to allow the Protogen to consume food. An electronic display on the visor displays the Protogen's face. On the visor is a fin, usually with a symbol on the attachment piece. They have biological ears, usually with one or two sets, and rarer ones having three or more. However, Protogens NEVER have mechanical ears, as this is a Primagen-only trait. Uncommon Protogens can also have attached hors, while Rare Protogens can have floating horns. Protogens also have the options for top-of-head or chest plate screens, but only rare Protogens can have both. They have a biological neck, usually furred, and a chest plate underneath the neck. Connected to the shoulders are the "plug-and-play" arms. Arms can be any combination of biological and artificial components. (Common and Uncommon Protogens have one set of arms, while Rare Protogens can have two or more sets) Underneath the chest plate is the biological stomach, the groin plate, the "plug-and-play" tail, and the "plug-and-play" legs. The stomach has a biological digestive tract, and nutrition digested here is split into two forms of energy: natural energy, to power the biological parts, and electrical energy, to power the artificial parts. (Rare cases of Protogens surviving on only Arcai energy or another form of power have been recorded, but are rare, and dangerous to the Protogen.) The groin plate is connected to the "plug-and-play" tail, which can have any combination of biological and artificial components. The legs have artificial thigh plates, usually with a glowing symbol near the top, and the lower leg can have any combination of biological and artificial components, as long as the leg does not resemble a raptor leg. (This is a Primagen-only feature.) (Common and Uncommon Protogens have one set of legs and one tail, while rare Protogens can have two or more sets of legs, and two or more tails.) Uncommon Protogens can also have features such as small wings that are either aesthetic only or glide assistants, as well as short-time use jetpacks. Rare Protogens can have fully functional and full-size wings or jetpacks.
