YuumaKuma is an artist from Longframlington,[1] United Kingdom.[2]

Fandom involvement[edit]

She's been in the furry fandom for about four years and making art for a couple of years more. She created the furry species Makemeä along with Sweetie The Protogen.

She specializes in digital anime-type furry art but sometimes branches out into painting type digital drawings.

Fursona[edit]

YuumaKuma's fursona is a tall, female teddy bear plushie called Yuuma. She also has a bunny plush fursona, and a fursona of the Makemeä species of her creation.

Makemeä[edit]

The Makemeä, also known as the Sweet Deer, is a tiny species that live in small colonies on the planet Irka. The colonies are run under the same royal family, made up out of Alpha Makemeä, which are all female. Females are usually built stronger and taller, within their classifications. Males are usually a bit less thick but are also less common and shorter.

Physiology[edit]

They are about 2 feet 6 inches to 5 feet tall, depending on what classification the character is. They have deer-like tails and ears, round heads like rabbits, and feline or human torsos. They are naturally curvy with childbearing hips. Eyes always have dark sclera, They have brightly colored tongues. Hair is used as attractive plumage to find mates (think birds of paradise and the males' feathers)

They usually wear clothes and have their class of species on their left little finger. Weapons and homes are made of hard candies.

Classification[edit]

The Makemeä species is split into 3 categories, called classifications'. These are determined on the height, size, sterilization, strength, and, in the case of Alphas, gender. The three classifications are Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

  • Alphas (α) - Female only (part of lore). Generally slimmer. Larger horns and longer fur. Aggressive. Warriors and royalty. Taller and more muscular (4'+). Inspired by the Gerudo. Based on hard candies like pear drops, mint humbugs, etc. Can be slightly translucent
  • Betas (β)- Can be male or female. Curvy legs. Medium or small horns. Pretty peaceful. Basic citizens, 90% of the population. Average height (3'-4'). Based on tougher candies such as chewitz, maoams, chocolate, and cakes/patisserie
  • Omegas (Ω) - Curvy legs. Tiny horns for males but both can have no horns. Complacent and pliant. Lowest class. Very short. Females can have children but males are sterile. Based on soft candy and drinks like hot chocolate, energy drinks, Fanta, marshmallows, Squishems, etc

Lore[edit]

Makemeä started off their evolution as a feral species, living on a very cold and desolate planet. In order to adapt to this environment, they developed more fat and a pack mentality to survive and keep more heat. This pack mentality led to small societies forming with slight variations between the stronger and weaker of the species. The Makemeä began to develop stronger hind legs and eventually became bipedal, and variations between the species became so great that they led to the classifications that we have today.

From the very start, the females have been stronger and similar to the alpha males that we refer to today. They became the leaders of the growing societies and the weaker classifications got less and less recognition in their societies. Buildings began to appear as well as clothing. Each society bore a different style of clothing, putting them apart from the others and making them similar to sports teams, bringing those in societies closer together.

Royalty[edit]

At this point, there were three main societies, Ystävä, Lääkalo, and Rakaat; named after the three lines of the alphas leading these societies.

Ystävä valued allies and equality, men and omegas being rather the same in value to the betas, however, the alphas still had a higher class than the others. Lääkalo had a very high crime rate, and drug use, after discovery, was used in abundance. Rakaat is the now only kingdom left out of the three, being the one with the largest amount of Makemeä. It held its value close of strength being the most important feature in someone, and it's army and royalty was valued above all else. However due to this value, alphas were placed far above ordinary citizens and the lower classed omegas and with the males in general. This sparked uprising with these citizens.

The males and omegas started a petition to get a democratic right: For example to vote and get higher in Rakaat's hierarchy (think the UK and Ireland's, suffragettes.) This was a massive battle that went on for many many years. Police and the army got involved trying to stop the rather violent protests made by the lower classes.

After 50 years, and some alphas backing the movement, a law was finally changed that meant that omegas and beta men could work for the royal family and were allowed to vote on certain things. (Omegas only worked for the royal family as consorts of sorts before this time.)

Religion[edit]

Religion is a very touchy subject with the Makemeä. Some may choose to worship the Queen of the kingdom, or of their society, as worshipping Gods and other sorts of deities is outlawed. Small groups of Makemeä will form devout groups like friaries and worship their Gods from there, far away from civilization as to not get arrested.

Extra[edit]

I feel like the Makemeä has developed a firm structure over time with gender roles, but transgender Makemeä have always existed and aren't oppressed or anything, nonbinary Makemeä also can exist either through being born intersex or through their own identification, as the Makemeä's male and female forms are very similar.

Although horns are a symbol of power and high status, they are sometimes surgically removed to suit the Makemeä's tastes. This can be for aesthetic reasons or to combat dysphoria or disconnect that they may have towards them. Makemeä can have any personality, and there are cliques for all!
