Jerry Collins is an artist who lives in Macon, Georgia, USA.

Fandom involvement[edit]

His career extends back to the late 1970s, contributing to the pre-furry APA Vootie. His work has also appeared in Furrlough, Genus, and Furplay, and he has self-published a number of A5-format zines and portfolios, some of which have been sold through Ed Zolna's Mailbox Books.

In author's notes in early-1980s portfolios and samplers, Jerry describes the main influences on his art as a mixture of 1920's horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, anime pioneer Osamu Tezuka, and classic underground cartoonist Vaughn Bode. Jerry is still active, doing art on commission.

Fandom criticism[edit]

He had contributed some satirical caricature media poking fun at fandom figures to the site Crush! Yiff! Destroy! before the site demise, along with a couple of short pieces in which he reminisces about his experiences in the fandom. Personal essays: "I remember Brian" and "Critterology" vs. "Phurries", The first essay tells Jerry's side of a feud with furry artist Brian O'Connell; the second illustrates Jerry's view of a common attitude gap between early-period funny animal artists vs later furry fandom ones.

Haku Hasin (species)[edit]

Jerry is probably best known for his Haku Hasin, also known as Bambioids, a race of humanoid Cervidae (Deer) alien beings. Along with them, he is best known for his other two furry alien species, the Ganarfs and the Teijeinese/Cat-Bears.

These are merely the three most common of a collection of Collins Critters -- Ghouls, Gorts, Chipurra/"Chippies", Anuboids, Courtesanoids/"Panzerkitties", Gorilla Girls -- many of which were used only once or twice.

CC zoosemiotics[edit]

Wurf! is the all-purpose happy sound of Collins Critters. Depending on context and tone, it can mean anything from fun to orgasm.
