WikiFur talk:WikiProject Second Life/Archive 1
So, yeah, the project is more or less dead now. It never was really alive.
Let me start by saying that I never really considered this 'my' project. I mean, I started it, certainly, and I was pretty much the only person working on it... but I always figured that it was the community's project, and if enough people got working on it, my name might not even appear on it. Although, now that I look back on what I just typed, I think I'm rambling. Whatever.
What I was trying to say in the last paragraph is that... well, I dunno. I think I'll come back to that later.
Anyway, there are a couple reasons why the project didn't get off the ground...
- It was the first project I ever tried to start... heck, it was the first project I ever took part in, for that matter. Big inexperience factor there.
- I was the only one working on it. I'm sure Wikipedia has pages and pages of info and discussion on projects, and could tell me several reasons why nobody else jumped on it. But I'm not going to get into that.
- I more or less abandoned it. I lost interest in SL, and then later had a hiatus from Wikifur... so nobody was working on it for quite some time.
Anyway, if anyone wants to take over the project, they're more than welcome to it.
Let me just close by saying that I am not at all bitter from this experience. And I'm not being sarcastic. I know what I did wrong, and what I could have done right, and perhaps most importantly of all, I learned a lot. I made (imported) a template, learned lots of wikicode, read some policies, so on and so forth. And once I get some more time on my hands, who knows. I might just give this project another try, or start on a new one. Making a IRC project, or at least an infobox template, is something I've been thinking about for a while. But for now, I need to get back to work. KaloFoxfire 13:08, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
