WikiFur talk:Proposed deletion

I nominate this proposed policy for ratification. It addresses an obvious need (marking pages for deletion which do not meet Speedy Deletion criteria), it has a dispute mechanism in place, it is well documented, and it has a working template. --CodyDenton 08:47, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Updating needed[edit]

We use templates including Template:Delete and Template:Context, rather than one named Prod, and have not had a strict timeline. With those changes to accurately reflect practice, I'm for moving this template from porposed to policy. -- Sine 14:06, 24 May 2013 (EDT)

Sounds good. We don't have the traffic to adhere to a strict timeline, anyway. (Also, did you mean porpoised? :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 14:14, 24 May 2013 (EDT)
Clearly what suggested policy pages need are pictures of porpoises! -- Sine 14:18, 24 May 2013 (EDT)
They lie just below the surface, waiting to strike . . . --GreenReaper(talk) 14:20, 24 May 2013 (EDT)

What are the real advantages of {{proposed deletion}} over {{approp}}, exactly?. (Prod) does entice people to make a decision sooner (5 days [Wikipedia 7, odd]), on its fate vs the (long, long, long) grace period of (Appr). But, imho, we have a smaller staff than Wikipedia, coupled with Colleagues and editors' real lives calls, I think it may not give an article a fair amount of time for debate or consideration (duly noted though the "Contesting a proposed deletion" section). Could "grace periods" be allowed around such events as Holidays and/or Conventions dates?.

Just a point of contention. "For" if it works as suggested, just worried about the small window of opportunity for any possible discussions for or against the "article", that's all - Spirou 02:13, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

I didn't write this proposed policy. My suggestion above is to update it to reflect what we actually use and do on WikiFur. -- Sine 02:20, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Ah, It was thee DuncanDaHusky, my bad. Great, just argued against an self-agreed to settled Wikifur guideline (way to comprehend, self) >.< - Spirou 02:44, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

Policy on Deletion[edit]

Because of unnecessary drama involving the user User:Spirou, I propose that article deletion should be discussed beforehand, rather than immediately. I created two articles, Canternet and Ponychat which were deleted by Spirou. They were later re-added with support from the staff of WikiFur. The template for “Maybe it doesn't belong here” was added with it. Rather than deleting an article immediately, I believe that a discussion should be created on the talk page, or the wikifur IRC channel on Freenode, and through a short discussion the article will be deleted. --Chocolate Chip (talk) 03:45, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
