Editing Protection[edit]

It's ironic to see that a page inviting users to 'add something here' is protected from editing. Almafeta 12:19, 21 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Y'know, I was noticing the same thing. Given that it appears that it was initially protected after the vandalism on 15 Aug and those problems are long past, I'm going to go ahead and unprotect it. --Duncan da Husky 12:30, 21 Aug 2005 (UTC)

> Not anymore. It seems to be unlocked as of the move. As well, my account was dropped, which is never, ever fun. --Sar'ras Fae'lynn 04:45, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry - we tried to get most of them, but if you registered in the last year and didn't make any edits, we may have missed you. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:48, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
It's fine Reaper - I'm used to places dropping all the time because of inactivity, and the latest contribution would have been more than four months ago. Granted, not a long time in the grand scheme of things, but long in terms of net. --Sar'ras Fae'lynn 04:53, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, that's odd - if you've made any edits it should have required you to login. Are you sure you used that username? Check the history of the articles you edited. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Same one I reregistered for, GreenReaper. User name is copb.phoenix; Sar'ras is my fursona's name. After rotating my passwords, and making sure I didn't use an alt, I've come to the conclusion that there's a failure somewhere in between. That's fine - nothing of personal value was lost, and I make contributions according to standards (mostly spell/grammar structure checking). BTW: Added a heading to this - why not? --Sar'ras Fae'lynn 05:01, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Kemono picture[edit]

(This seems to be the WikiFur version of Wikipedia:Tavern, so...)

I'm about to write an article on Kemono, and I'm looking for a particular picture. It's a painting from the 13th century, and it depicts anthropomorphic female foxes, wolves (?), and a third species, as a high-class family out in the country. It looked like a watercolor, and I'm pretty sure it's entered the public domain by now. Does anyone know where a high-quality scan of this painting is? Almafeta 13:38, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I haven't yet found the scan you're looking for, but what you describe sounds like Toba Sojo's Choujuugiga ("Animal Scrolls"), depicted here (scroll halfway down the page). The picture is small, but is that what you're looking for? --Duncan da Husky 13:50, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Ah. Here's a bigger version.
No... totally different art style. But that could go in the Kemono article, too... Almafeta 13:55, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Neat picture. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 02:48, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Just so you guys know, you were an Awful link of the day at somethingawful.com. so... yeah

We know. That was like an age ago though. At least in the edit history terms. So many vandalism attempts in a short time. It's been written in the WikiFur history.

New version discussion[edit]

I'm liking this look so far. :) Will wait to see a more complete version. ^^ Should also applogise maybe for withdrawing a little from the community but I still hop on everyday. ^_^; Just with Uni restarting, a recent programming project of my own that I'm working on and NaNoWriMo next month, I'm being a little busy to do more than basic RC monitoring. ^^; --Nidonocu - talk Nidonocu 08:05, 11 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! And don't worry, we all have other commitments as well. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 13:51, 11 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I got tired of waiting with an obviously inadequate community portal, so I decided to replace it now. Commends or just direct changes welcome! --GreenReaper(talk) 06:40, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Help Desk[edit]

Should WikiFur:Help_Desk be on this page yet, or is someone waiting until it gets renamed? -- Siege 23:02, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Finding a definite name for it could probably take a while, so I don't think we should wait for that to happen first... The fact that it is indeed functional is what matters the most at any rate. :)
Regarding where to put it though, I guess the 'Get involved!' box would do fine (although it's getting a bit long as it is) - if you don't have a better place in mind. --MKerris 11:39, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Now that we've had a proper forum installed here, shouldn't we perhaps consider archiving and disabling the other help desk? I think it's a bit redundant having two such boards on this wiki, unless the community has exploded overnight or something :)

Thoughts, please? --MKerris 21:53, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Probably a good idea. There are already plenty of other ways they can get help if the forum doesn't. --GreenReaper(talk) 00:06, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thanks - I'll just change the links that are currently pointing to it (that do not refer to any specific posts there) to lead to the forum instead, for a start. I'm not entirely sure what to do with the page itself, though, other than removing the header template... should it just be left as it is, or should there rather be some text at the top stating that "this page is no longer in use, and is archived for posterity" or some such? Also; if the latter is the most appropriate alternative, do we have a template to go for that? --MKerris 02:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Popular pages[edit]

The popular pages link doesn't seem to be working at this moment. Spaz Kitty 10:39, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

No, it does not work, and will not for the foreseeable future. Hit counting has been disabled on Wikia for performance reasons. If we want to know the popular pages, we have to use the analytics stats. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:10, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Does this page have a purpose?[edit]

It seems to me that the Community Central page here is used very little. Nor does it seem to be updated very often (with the possible exception of the new articles/categories bars) - the "latest" news story is from September 2006. We probably don't even need a news section here anymore thanks to the News:Front Page and overall the page is starting to look pretty outdated.

I personally doubt that many people even use this page that much anymore, preferring the more commonly updated Main Page.

I propose that the Community Central page have a group of people who specifically update it (or, if possible, write some scripts to automatically update parts, as seen on Template:WikiFur Central/WikiFur News) or - if this is considered a lot cause - to delete the page outright.

Thoughts? — beeps (talk, contribs) 10:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Are you volunteering? :-) We have DPL now, which can do all sorts of things. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:52, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, there's this random thing I made way back when I first proposed some changes. Could possibly be improved? :P — beeps (talk, contribs) 11:48, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Ok desu ka?[edit]

I've noticed that there's a lot of folks with pages here, some members, some not. I wanted to ask: What's the conditionals for having a page for yourself, as opposed to just your User::[user] page? --Sar'ras Fae'lynn 04:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

WikiFur has no notability requirements, nor do we normally restrict people from editing articles about themselves. It is sufficient to merely be a member of the fandom, or of interest to furry fans for some other reason. If you wish to start the page about yourself, you are welcome to do so, though bear in mind that it can and probably will be edited by others. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:46, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Oy. I'm only notable in a few small circles, but I actually just wanted to get a head start. I'll start at my UP and swap it when I've got together something presentable. --Sar'ras Fae'lynn 04:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Life of a 14 year old Furry in progress[edit]

Hey furry friends or people who just come here to read furry things, I need some help please. You see I watch furry videos on the internet. FYI I hate the mursuit part of the fandom. No doing it please. My dad and mom have now just recently searched my history and have found the videos I watch. My mom has not currently said anything about furries but my dad sure has. We saw a dog today playing with her owner and I said "WOW What a cute dog!" My dad replied "Stupid animals." We got into a discussions about why or why not animals should die and why they are cute. I said out of the blue "I like to dress up like animals." He got into a talk about how being a furry is WEIRD. I said "It's just like mascots. We continued to argue. I feel like if I still dream of being a full furry when I'm older then my dad will secretly hate me for it. Should I continue to be a furry in secret??

Madison County Library System[edit]

Hi!

I noticed there is no article on Madison County Library System (you know, the public library furries saved?). Could I create an article about that, or would you rather not?

Best wishes

PS. I have no account here, LOL? xD - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 77.255.24.116 (talkcontribs) .

It will be fine, I see that page has yet to be created, but if you wish to start it go for it. I'm still working on the not-yet-ready article, Fernando's Cafe, but time and RL work, you know?. Good luck - Spirou (talk) 01:29, 16 April 2023 (EDT)
